Chapter 79 It’s an Auction 

At six on the dot, Alexander pulled up right on schedule. 

Meanwhile, with the makeup artist lending a hand, Emily emerged from Carter Manor. 

It was still early, and Ryan and the rest of the family hadn’t returned yet. So, only a few servants caught sight of Emily leaving.

Concerned about her family’s worry, she told the servants, “If Ryan or the others ask about me later, just tell them I’ve headed to the library to hit the books.”

It was fall, and the setting sun painted everything in a warm orange glow. There was Alexander, standing with the sun at his back, casually propped against the car. His arms were crossed, and his trench coat flapped in the light breeze. 

Hearing the commotion, he glanced up. And there was Emily, bathed in the orange sunset. That bright red evening dress complemented her complexion beautifully, and her flawless makeup gave her the glamor of a lollywood starlet. 

She was a real head–turner, just standing there.

Emily had an awesome figure, and that V–neck dress made it easy for Alexander to catch an accidental peek.

At the mention of Ethan, Emily lost her enthusiasm. “I don’t think I wanna go,” she said. 

Alexander replied, “You promised. You’re not the type to back out at the last minute.” 

Emily fell silent. She had given her word, after all. 

Finally, she got into the car.

“Come to think of it, I haven’t. This is the first time. Who on earth is she? Is she on the rich women’s list?” 

The chatter was loud enough for Emily to catch most of it.
