Chapter 115

Lisa’s POV

+25 Points

Rylan carried me inside the Frostbane mansion as if I weighed nothing. My arms circled around his neck and my cheek rested against his chest. I could hear the steady beat of his heart beneath my ear

After everything I had just been through, this moment felt unreal. Rylan’s warmth wrapped around me. His scent of pine and smoke filled my senses. I felt safe again

He climbed the stairs with steady strides. My breath caught when he pushed open the door to his bedroom. It was exactly as I remembered: the large bed with dark sheets, the tall windows framed with heavy curtains and the faint glow of moonlight spilling inside

He set me down gently on the bed, as though I might break if he let go too fast. My body sank into the softness of the mattress. I didn’t want him to step away, not even for a second

But instead of moving back, Rylan reached for the door. His hand gripped the handle, and with a sharp

click, he locked it

My pulse quickened

Sierra chuckled softly in my mind. He doesn’t plan to let anyone disturb you tonight

Heat rushed into my cheeks. I whispered inside myself, I don’t mind

When Rylan turned back to me, his expression was different. He looked so sexy. His eyes glowed faintly

with his wolf. His chest rose and fell faster than before

Lisa,he murmured, his voice deep and husky. Do you know how many nights I have dreamed of this? Of

you coming back?”

My breath caught. My fingers twisted in the blanket. Rylan”

He strode to me and sat at the edge of the bed, leaning closer until his face hovered just above mine. His

hand brushed a strand of hair away from my cheek. His thumb lingered against my skin

I thought I had lost you,” he whispered, his forehead touching mine. I thought I would never get the chance to hold you again. And it killed me, Lisa. Every second without you killed me.”

My throat tightened. I’m sorry,I said softly. I doubted you. I should have trusted you. I let Fenric’s lies

come between us. I almost let him win.”

Rylan’s lips curved in a faint smile, though his eyes glistened. You’re here now. That’s all that matters.”

His mouth brushed against mine, featherlight at first, as though he was afraid I might pull away. But I didn’t. I leaned into him. The kiss deepened, and all the pain and longing spilled into it

Sierra sighed happily in my head. Finally

Rylan pulled back just enough to look at me. His grin was mischievous now. Do you know how much I’ve

missed this mouth of yours? How much I’ve missed you?”

1 flushed. Rylan”

He chuckled softly. The sound was vibrating through me. You blush so easily. I love it.”

I swatted at his chest lightly, but he caught my hand and kissed the inside of my wrist. The heat of his lips

against my skin sent a shiver racing through me

You drive me crazy, Lisa,he murmured. Crazy enough that when I thought you believed I had betrayed

youit broke me. But I knew. I knew you would come back to me.”

Tears stung my eyes. I laid my head against his chest and listened to his racing heartbeat. I don’t deserve

you,I whispered. I doubted your loyalty to me.”

Yes, you do,he said fiercely. You’re mine. Always.”

His arms wrapped tight around me. For a long while, we just held each other in silence. There were no

words and only the sound of our breaths mingling. The warmth of his body seeped into mine and soothed every wound left inside me

Eventually, the passion that had been simmering between us ignited. We made love, slow and desperate

full of whispered promises and soft laughter. In his arms, I felt whole again

Afterward, I lay against his bare chest. My head was rising and falling with his breaths. His fingers traced

idle circles on my back

You’re never leaving me again,he murmured, his voice thick with exhaustion and contentment

I smiled against his skin. Not if I can help it.”

Sierra hummed in my head. She was content. This is where you belong

For the first time in what felt like forever, I drifted to sleep in peace. I was safely wrapped in Rylan’s arms

A knock at the door startled me awake. It was morning. Light filtered through the curtains. I blinked. I was

still pressed against Rylan’s chest. He stirred beneath me and groaned softly

The knock came again, firmer this time. Alpha Rylan,a guard called from outside. Morana has arrived

She waits in the main hall.”

I sat up quickly. MoranaMy heart raced. The diary

Rylan rubbed his face with his hands, then pushed himself up to sit beside me. She didn’t waste time,he muttered

We dressed quickly while stealing a few soft kisses in between. My cheeks were still warm with the memory of the previous night

When we finally stepped into the hall, hand in hand, my heart felt light. But the moment we entered the main hall, my chest tightened again

Kael was already there

+25 Point

He sat beside Morana on the couch. His posture was straight and stiff. His silver eyes locked instantly on our joined hands. His expression darkened

Sierra’s sly voice echoed in my mind. He hates it. Look at him….jealous already

I swallowed hard. I could almost feel the tension rolling off him

Morana, however, seemed unaffected. She rose slowly. Her long silver braid swayed down her back. In her hands was a thick and worn leather diary. The cover was cracked with age. It smelled faintly of old parchment and something floral, as though it had absorbed the scent of the woman who once held it

This, she said gravely, belonged to your mother, Althea.”

My breath hitched as she placed it in my hands. It was heavier than I expected. It was thick with secrets

and memories

Thank you,I whispered while clutching it close

I opened the cover carefully. On the first page, an old photograph was glued. It was her. My mother. She looked so young….so alive. Her smile was radiant and her eyes were sparkling like mine

My chest tightened. Tears pricked my eyes. She’s beautiful.”

Rylan squeezed my hand gently. Kael leaned forward slightly, though he said nothing. His expression was

unreadable

I turned the page. The next few were filled with neat handwriting. I began to read

I will turn twentyone soon. Everyone says it is the most important age for a shewolf. But I feel strange. All the girls my age have already met their wolves. Jane, my best friend, already has hers. She has even met her mate. And me? Nothing. No wolf. No whispers. Only silence

Sometimes, I wonder if something is wrong with me. Mama says no. She says our bloodline is different. That our wolves come later because we are special. But I don’t feel special. I feel forgotten and left

behind

Jane teases me. She tells me to stop worrying. But when I see the glow in her eyes when she talks about her mate, I feel a sting in my chest. I want that too. I want to feel whole

My eyes blurred as I read the words. I could almost hear my mother’s young voice in them

She thought she wasn’t special,” I whispered softly

Morana’s voice was gentle. She was wrong. Althea was one of the most special souls I ever knew.”

I turned another page

It is my birthday. I am twentyone today. And finally…finally….my wolf has come to me. Her name is Selene

She is strong and fierce. Her voice fills me with courage. I feel whole at last. I am not broken. I am not left

behind

Mama cried when I told her. She said it was time I learned the truth. She said our family is not ordinary. We are blessed. Long ago, the Moon Goddess herself touched our bloodline and gave us divine powers. It runs in our veins. It is hidden but real. I wanted to laugh, but Mama’s eyes were too serious. She said we were chosen, and that one day I would understand why

I touched the ink with trembling fingers

Sierra whispered inside me. Just like you. Just like us

A lump formed in my throat

I turned another page. My breath was quickening

Today, Jane and I went on a picnic. We laughed and teased each other like always. But thenthe rogues came. Their eyes were wild. They looked so dangerous. I thought I would die. But before they could reach us, an Alpha appeared with his men. He fought like fire. His strength was overwhelming. I couldn’t look away. He was the most handsome man I had ever seen. His namewas Fenric

My hand froze on the page. My stomach dropped

The words stared back at me. They were heavy and cruel

My mother had met Fenric that day

And it had changed everything

The room was silent. I could feel both Kael’s and Rylan’s eyes on me as I gripped the diary tighter

My heart thudded painfully

The chapter of my mother’s life had only just begun

And I wasn’t sure if I was ready to know the rest

“The Wolf Who Couldn’t Shift”

1. The Outcast of Nightshade Pack

Lisa had always been the outcast of her own home — a wolf without a wolf.

In the Nightshade Pack, turning twenty-one meant power, dominance, and pride. Every werewolf her age had already shifted, embracing their animal half. But Lisa hadn’t. Her wolf had never emerged.

Because of that, she was treated as an anomaly, a failure, and a source of shame.
Her parents ignored her. The pack ridiculed her. Even her own blood — her beautiful, perfect sister Roxanne — made her life a living nightmare.

Roxanne was everything Lisa wasn’t: strong, admired, and loved. The perfect daughter. The shining jewel of the family. And to make matters worse, Roxanne was dating Kael Blackthorn, the Alpha’s son — a man everyone respected and desired.

For Lisa, that was the final reminder of her insignificance. Every time she saw them together, it only highlighted the chasm between their worlds.

2. A Celebration That Wasn’t Hers

That night was Roxanne’s birthday, and their mother had transformed their home into a grand venue — lights, laughter, and music filled the air. Roxanne had been gifted a stunning red gown, handpicked by their mother, while Lisa was given a single task: serve the guests.

No one remembered Lisa’s birthday a few months ago. No cake. No presents. No “happy birthday.” Her parents had said it plainly before — Roxanne came first.
Lisa was simply expected to sacrifice and stay silent.

Still, she wanted to look decent. She chose a modest navy-blue dress, applied light makeup, and promised herself she wouldn’t let the night break her.

But the universe — or rather, Roxanne — had other plans.

3. Sister Cruelty

The door burst open, and Roxanne walked in like a queen entering a servant’s quarters. Her crimson lips curved into a smirk.

“What are you doing? You should be downstairs, not wasting time,” she sneered.

“I’ll be down in a minute,” Lisa replied softly, trying to keep her calm.

Roxanne’s eyes glinted with malice. Without warning, she snatched Lisa’s face cream from the dresser and poured it all over her dress.

Lisa gasped as the thick cream soaked through the fabric, staining it completely.

“Roxanne!” she cried, panic and disbelief trembling in her voice. “Why would you do that?”

“Because you’re embarrassing,” Roxanne replied coldly. “You think dressing up will make people notice you? No one cares what you look like, Lisa. You’re nothing but a burden.”

Tears blurred Lisa’s vision as she ran downstairs, desperate for justice. But when she told their mother what had happened, she was met with scorn.

“Roxanne would never do that,” her mother said sharply. “Stop making excuses. Go change and get back to work.”

And there Roxanne stood beside her, smug and triumphant, watching Lisa break in silence.

4. The Invisible Sister

Lisa changed into an old, faded dress — dull and shapeless.
When she finally entered the main hall, guests were already laughing and drinking, the music echoing through the night.

She moved quietly among them, balancing trays and forcing smiles. She served drinks, ignored whispers, and endured Roxanne’s cruel jokes.

One of Roxanne’s friends gave Lisa a small, pitying smile.
“Oh, you must be Lisa, right? Roxanne’s sister?”

Before Lisa could answer, Roxanne appeared and laughed loudly.
“Don’t bother talking to her! She’s just the help tonight — our little maid.”

Her friends giggled, glancing at Lisa like she was a joke.
“She’s really your sister?” one asked. “She doesn’t even look like she belongs here.”

“She doesn’t,” Roxanne said proudly. “She’s an embarrassment to the family.”

The laughter burned like fire in Lisa’s ears. But she didn’t fight back.
She had learned long ago that silence hurt less than hope.

5. The Alpha’s Arrival

Suddenly, the noise died down. All eyes turned toward the entrance.

The Alpha, Luna, and their son Kael Blackthorn — Roxanne’s boyfriend — had arrived. Their presence demanded respect, their aura commanding silence.

Kael was striking — tall, dark-haired, eyes sharp and unreadable. Power radiated from him effortlessly.
He walked straight to Roxanne, pulling her into his arms, kissing her in front of everyone.

The crowd cheered. Roxanne basked in the attention like it was her birthright.

Lisa’s stomach twisted. Not out of jealousy — but from the ache of being so invisible even to those who shared her blood.

“Lisa!” Roxanne called, her tone dripping with authority. “Bring drinks for me and Kael.”

Lisa obeyed. She returned with a tray of crystal glasses, keeping her head down. But when she approached, she felt his gaze.

Kael was watching her.

“Is that your sister?” he asked, his voice low and deep. “What’s her name? I don’t think I’ve seen her before.”

Roxanne laughed, tightening her arm around him.
“Oh, don’t bother. She’s not important. Just the family failure. Focus on me.”

Then she kissed him again — possessive, showy, territorial.

6. The Breaking Point

Something inside Lisa snapped.

For years, she had swallowed humiliation, endured cruelty, and told herself it didn’t matter. But as she stood there, watching her sister claim everything — their parents’ love, the pack’s respect, even Kael’s attention — something deep within her stirred.

Maybe it was anger. Maybe it was pain. Maybe it was the first stirrings of the wolf she thought she’d never have.

But it was there — hot, alive, awake.

She placed the tray down calmly, ignoring Roxanne’s voice calling after her.
She walked away — past the laughter, past the whispers, past every face that had ever looked at her with pity.

They could laugh. They could mock.
But one day, they would see.

7. A Shift Waiting to Happen

As the night went on, Lisa slipped quietly outside. The cool air hit her face, carrying the scent of pine and moonlight.

The party’s laughter echoed behind her, but she barely heard it. Her heart pounded with a strange rhythm, her blood burning beneath her skin.

Something was happening — a pull in her soul, a whisper in her bones.

She tilted her head toward the moon, feeling its glow on her skin.
For the first time in her life, she didn’t feel weak. She felt something ancient stirring inside her, clawing to be free.

Maybe her wolf wasn’t gone.
Maybe it had just been waiting — for the moment Lisa stopped begging to be seen, and started seeing herself.

8. The Beginning of Change

Inside, the celebration continued. Roxanne laughed, oblivious to the storm brewing.

Kael’s eyes flicked toward the window where Lisa stood in the moonlight. For a brief second, something unreadable crossed his expression — curiosity, or maybe recognition.

He didn’t know it yet. None of them did.
But the quiet, invisible girl they had mocked all her life was about to become something far greater than any of them could imagine.

Because sometimes, the wolves who are late to shift…
Are the ones destined to lead the pack.
