Gideon was already enough to stress Tyson out. Now, as if things weren’t bad enough, Wade showed up, too. 

“Tyson, there’s something off here. Can you come take a look?” one of the staff called out. 

Tyson was totally spaced out, lost in his thoughts. 

The staff member had to call his name a few times before Tyson snapped back to reality. 

Once Tyson and Aurelia finished up, Wade personally escorted them downstairs. 

Tyson went to get the car, while Aurelia stayed behind to chat with Wade for a bit. 

Halfway through their conversation, Wade got a call and had to return to his office, leaving Aurelia alone to 

wait. 

It was probably rush hour, and the traffic was bad. Tyson was gone for quite a while. 

Aurelia waited a little longer. 

Right at that moment, Tessa and Karlie walked out of the building. 

Aurelia was busy scrolling through her phone, totally missing them, but Karlie noticed her right away. 

Tessa did, too. 

As soon as Tessa remembered how Gideon ditched her for Aurelia, her face went cold. She instantly felt annoyed. 

Karlie was just as pissed. 

She still felt that Aurelia had sabotaged things between her and Liam. 

So she wanted to march over and confront Aurelia right then and there. 

But Tessa grabbed her arm, holding her back. 

“Just ignore her,” Tessa said. 

“But…” Karlie protested. 

“She won’t be riding high for much longer,” Tessa said calmly, keeping her cool. 

Sure, she’d lost to Aurelia before, but that was just Aurelia getting lucky. 

Once Tessa nailed the port renovation project, Aurelia would be stuck looking up at her for the rest of her life. 

Thanks to Tessa, Karlie finally started to cool off.

Chapter 124 

“Yeah, as long as Cassian’s on your side, it’ll be Aurelia’s turn to cry!” Karlie said, tilting her chin up. 

Just the thought of Cassian put Tessa in a good mood again. 

“So, just hang in there for now,” Tessa said. 

On their way out, Karlie made sure to shoulder Aurelia on purpose. 

Aurelia nearly dropped her phone from the impact. 

She grabbed her phone, glaring after the girl who didn’t even bother to say sorry before strutting off. 

“Ugh, some people have no manners!” Aurelia muttered to herself. 

Aurelia only saw the girl’s back as she walked away, didn’t recognize Karlie, and honestly didn’t have time to care. She just vented a little under her breath. 

Just then, Mia sent her a news link. 

Aurelia tapped it open and realized it was an article from Tessa’s recent magazine interview. 

The content had been updated. They’d removed any mention of the now–defunct AeroMind project and replaced it with the port renovation project. 

For interviews like this, the article always got run by them for approval ahead of time. 

Cassian letting Tessa mention it so publicly just showed he was sure they had the project in the bag. 

While Aurelia was still reading, Mia was already blowing up in the chat. 

“Those two are such scumbags! They make me sick! 

“He actually handed that bitch such a massive project! Why can’t he just crash and burn for once? 

“Tessa must’ve saved the galaxy in her past life or something. How does she get so damn lucky?” 

Aurelia just sighed. “Yeah, luck always lands on the worst people. Those people always end up around me.” 

Mia was still fuming and asked Aurelia, “Can you steal it? If you can, go for it! Let’s piss off those two scumbags!” 

“Want the truth?” Aurelia replied. 

“Forget it. Just pretend I’m talking nonsense,” Mia said, knowing full well how impossible that would be. 

How could a scrappy little startup that had only been around for half a year and finished just one project possibly go up against a heavyweight like Honoria Capital? 

Aurelia could just imagine how furious Mia must be, so she tried to lighten the mood. “Hey, never say never! It’s a long shot, but not totally out of the question.”

“Wait, you’re actually thinking about making a move on this?” Mia blurted out. 

“Yeah, I’m already working on it. Might as well go all out and try,” Aurelia said.

Mia shot up from her bed. “Bestie, I knew you had it in you! I’m all in for you! Oh, and that dividend you sent me last time? I’m sending it right back. Put it all on the line!” 

“Maybe hold onto some of it, just in case we lose,” Aurelia suggested. 

But Mia was never one to take advice. “Who cares? It’s not like losing will break us!” 

That gave Aurelia a huge confidence boost. 

“I’ll do my best to make sure you don’t lose,” Aurelia said. 

“I believe in you! You totally got this!” Mia replied. 

Mia was totally hyped, sending over a whole string of voice messages to cheer Aurelia on. 

Since she was in public, Aurelia didn’t dare play them out loud. She didn’t want people staring. 

Finally, Tyson pulled up. He explained that the parking lot was jammed, which was why he was late. 

Once Aurelia got in, Tyson asked if she wanted to grab a bite together. 

It was dinner time, and Aurelia was actually hungry. 

Tyson asked what she felt like eating. 

Aurelia thought for a moment, then gave him an address. 

It was a small, unassuming cheeseburger shop. Aurelia hadn’t been back in ages. 

Back when Honoria Capital was just starting out, Cassian had rented an office on the top floor of that old commercial building across the street. 

Aurelia was both his secretary and the only one running errands for the whole company, so she knew the neighborhood inside out. 

She used to come to this cheeseburger shop all the time to pick up late–night bites for Cassian. 

Sometimes, after working overtime, the two of them would swing by together and grab cheeseburgers. 

So, when Tyson asked her where she wanted to eat, for some reason, that place was the first thing that came to mind, and she just went with it. 

The street still looked exactly the same as before. Not a single thing had changed. 

Even that banyan tree next to the cheeseburger shop was still there, thriving and growing like it owned the place.

Her WhatsApp profile picture was taken right under that tree. 

She was standing with her back to the camera, head tipped up, staring at the soft yellow glow of the streetlight by the banyan tree, feeling all kinds of hope for what was ahead. 

Cassian was the one who snapped the picture. 

That day, he asked her what was running through her mind when he snapped that picture, 

Aurelia didn’t tell him then. 

Cassian pressed her about it. 

She just said she’d tell him what she’d been thinking at that moment when the time was right. 

Even after all those years, she still remembered exactly what was on her mind back then. 

But now, there was really no reason to bring it up anymore. 

Maybe those feelings would stay locked away for good. 

Nothing here had changed at all. 

Yet somehow, it all felt strangely foreign now. 

It was as if everything had already moved on ages ago. 

Maybe it was because the place looked so old and worn out, and there were barely any customers inside. 

That was why Aurelia spotted Cassian and Tessa sitting inside, digging into their cheeseburgers, the moment she walked in. 

She froze in her tracks, totally stunned. 

She never expected Cassian to bring Tessa here. 

Tyson was so focused on Aurelia that he didn’t even notice what was going on inside the restaurant. When she suddenly stopped, he asked with concern, “What’s wrong?” 

Aurelia shook her head. “I’m suddenly not in the mood for cheeseburgers. Let’s go somewhere else.” 

“Okay,” Tyson replied softly. 

Tyson found it a little strange, but didn’t ask any questions. He just followed her lead. 

Still, Tyson could clearly sense Aurelia’s mood had shifted. 

She didn’t want to talk about it, and Tyson respected that, quietly staying by her side. 

Aurelia found herself wondering what was running through Cassian’s head, bringing Tessa to that cheeseburger shop.

Was he just back there getting sentimental about the old days? 

Or was he letting his new girl see the person he used to be? 

After sitting with those thoughts for a long while, Aurelia finally did something. 

She swapped out the WhatsApp profile picture she’d held onto for seven years. 

‘Some memories are meant to rot in the past, Aurelia thought to herself. 

“I’m flying out to Sundale tomorrow,” Aurelia told Tyson. 

“To see Ms. Lane?” Tyson asked. 

“Mm–hmm,” Gideon replied. 

Tyson already knew what she was planning. “Let Miranda go with you. She’s good at taking care of people.” 

“Sure. If anything comes up with the smart port project, let me know,” Aurelia said. 

“Alright,” Tyson said, pausing for a moment before adding, “Don’t put too much pressure on yourself.” 

“I know,” Aurelia replied. 

She didn’t mean a word of it, though. 

If someone else had been handed this project, she wouldn’t have touched it with a ten–foot pole. The whole thing was a nightmare, way too much stress for anyone. 

But she refused to let Tessa have her moment, and she’d be damned if Cassian got his way. 

Aurelia thought, ‘Losing isn’t an option. I need that win. No matter what. 

‘Cassian needs to know exactly what he missed out on. 

‘He lost me because he was never worthy enough.’
