Chapter 134 

In today’s society, homewreckers were like rats in the street. Everyone wanted to stomp them out. 

Karlie couldn’t stand seeing Aurelia in the spotlight, so she called Aurelia out in front of the media, just to put a target on Aurelia’s back. 

Even if Aurelia managed to snatch the project, Karlie was hell–bent on making her pay for it. 

That was her whole plan. 

Everyone loved gossip, but reporters took it to a whole new level. 

They swarmed Aurelia, bombarding her with questions about whether she had stolen someone else’s boyfriend and whether she was the other woman. 

The microphones were practically shoved in her face. 

Tyson quickly reached out to push them away, ready to jump in and stand up for Aurelia. 

But Aurelia grabbed his arm. 

When he looked at her, she shook her head, silently telling him to hold back. 

But right then, Aurelia stepped forward, facing the crowd and all the cameras. 

Everyone fell dead silent. They were waiting for her to speak. 

Karlie’s insults and provocations didn’t even make Aurelia blink. She let out a soft, mocking laugh. “Steal someone else’s boyfriend?” 

Then she raised an eyebrow, her tone casual. “What’s the fun in that? The real fun is stealing a man’s livelihood.” 

Everyone picked up on her sarcasm. 

After all, she’d just swiped the port redevelopment project from Honoria Capital. That was basically snatching the project from Cassian. 

Tessa and Cassian witnessed it all firsthand. 

Defeated by Aurelia once again, Tessa went pale at Aurelia’s words, her hands at her sides curling into fists. 

Her only thought was to escape, so she instinctively turned to Cassian. 

She hoped he’d be her shelter again, whisking her away from the center of the storm. 

“Cassian, I want to go home,” she said. 

Cassian just stood there, silent for the first time. 

Chapter 134 

He was right next to her, but his gaze was locked on Aurelia, who was standing a short distance away. 

Time seemed to stretch on forever, so long that when she called his name, he didn’t even seem to hear her 

Aurelia wasn’t about to let Karlie get under her skin. 

After all, she’d just landed the biggest project of her career. It was definitely something worth celebrating, 

That night, she took the whole crew from Regal Investment and Tyson’s studio out to Bluecrest Hot Springs Resort for a team–building bash. 

Back when she worked for Cassian, she always went for the cheapest places for team events, just to save him 

some money. 

But now that she was calling the shots, she could spend as much as she wanted and do things her way. The manager kept calling her “Ms. Corin” respectfully and called everyone over to welcome the guests. Aurelia noticed a familiar face among the staff. 

Scott blurted out in surprise, “Nadia? What are you doing here?” 

Nadia never thought she’d bump into her old boss again. There was no escape, so she could only force a smile and say, “I work here.” 

Since Nadia knew Aurelia, the manager immediately put her in charge of welcoming Aurelia and her crew. 

He kept stressing, “Ms. Corin is a VIP here. You need to give her the best service and make her feel like she owns the place, understand?” 

Nadia bit her lip and ducked her head. 

“Did you hear me?” the manager repeated, a little sharper. 

Nadia could only mumble, her voice barely above a whisper, “Yes, I heard you.” 

Miranda leaned in and whispered to Aurelia, “Last time Honoria Capital had a team event here, Nadia got drunk and started kissing up to Tessa. 

“She said that she only got to enjoy a fancy place like Bluecrest Hot Springs Resort because she was with Tessa, and before that, she used to have it rough.” 

Honestly, Nadia’s words back then were way harsher than what Miranda was saying now. 

Nadia even said Aurelia was full of herself, acting like she was already Honoria Capital’s future boss lady, always sticking her nose into everything and counting every dime, with no sense of the big picture at all. 

She claimed Cassian would kick Aurelia to the curb sooner or later. 

Chapter 134 

Miranda didn’t even have to say it. Aurelia already knew exactly what kind of person Nadia was. 

But now, hearing all that again, it didn’t faze Aurelia at all. 

She just quipped, light as air, “So I guess she’s living the good life now.” 

Miranda was lost for words. 

Miranda couldn’t help thinking, ‘How come I never noticed Aurelia had a sense of humor before? This is the boomerang effect. What goes around comes around. 

Miranda was clearly enjoying the moment. 

“Look at Scott and me. We both left Honoria Capital and found decent jobs. But she ended up as a server. That’s karma for her,” Miranda said. 

Before dinner, Aurelia, Scott, and Tyson had a quick meeting to go over the next steps for the project. 

Scott said he’d already put together a list of some solid construction companies, and he could start reaching out to them as soon as they got back. 

Aurelia sent him a WhatsApp contact. 

When Scott found out it was Gilbert from Apex Group, he was stunned. “Ms. Corin, when did you get hooked up with Apex Group?” 

“I met Gilbert at a gala a while back,” Aurelia explained. 

Scott knew Benjamin had brought Aurelia along to a few parties and dinners, but that kind of thing probably wouldn’t be enough to get a company as big as Apex Group to pay attention. 

Benjamin still had some reputation, but he’d stepped back from the front lines years ago. 

Business was all about chasing profits. Nobody would do him a favor just out of respect. 

Besides, Aurelia’s Regal Investment had zero business connections with the Locke Group. An old fox like Gilbert would definitely think twice before jumping in. 

That was why Scott was so surprised. 

Aurelia casually mentioned the time she’d thrown down the gauntlet at Cassian. 

“I told Cassian that if he and Tessa are going to be miserable when I win, then I must win. 

“I just wanted to light a fire under Cassian and Tessa. Tessa can’t stand losing to me, so she’ll go all out, and with Cassian backing her, he’ll move heaven and earth to help her out. 

“Think about it. If even Cassian from Honoria Capital is making a big deal out of this project, it’s got to be something special. There’s no way Gilbert wouldn’t be interested.” 

Scott slapped his thigh. “Oh, I get it now. It all makes sense.”

He was in investment banking himself, so after Aurelia laid it out, he immediately saw the business play behind it. 

Tessa was fired up, networking like crazy, making sure everyone believed this project was the hottest ticket in 

town. 

Once Regal Investment landed the project, when it came time to work with other companies, nobody would hesitate just because Regal Investment was a small firm. 

After all, if Regal Investment could go toe to toe with Honoria Capital and win, then honestly, it must have great potential. 

No wonder Aurelia was so relaxed when she heard Tessa was running herself ragged for this project. 

It turned out that she’d orchestrated the whole thing from the start. 

Tessa probably would never figure it out. She thought she was making power moves left and right, but in the end, she and Honoria Capital were just stepping stones for Aurelia. 

Scott thought, ‘What a genius move! Man, I’ve really underestimated Aurelia before! 

Dinner was at the resort, and as soon as Aurelia stepped into the restaurant, the manager and staff wheeled over a cart carrying a bottle of Armand de Brignac Rosé champagne. 

Scott’s eyes nearly popped out of his head. “Ms. Corin, are you really going all out like this?” 

That bottle of wine was worth almost six hundred thousand dollars, and it was a global limited edition, which was seriously rare. 

Aurelia chuckled. “Come on, I’m not splurging like that.” 

She was still living in a rented apartment, after all. 

The manager explained, “This is from Mr. Porter, to celebrate for Ms. Corin.” 

Aurelia asked, “Liam?” 

“Yes,” the manager replied. 

Aurelia opened the card and saw Liam’s message inside.
