Aurelia didn’t wake up until noon the next day.

Her mind was still foggy when she heard noises outside her door. 

It sounded like someone was messing around in the kitchen.

Aurelia got out of bed to see what was happening. As soon as her feet touched the floor and she tried to stand, a sharp pain flared up between her legs. 

She collapsed back onto the bed with a thud. 

Her lower back felt so weak and sore, it was like her whole body had turned to jelly. It was like she’d been run over by a truck. Every inch of her body ached. 

Her head throbbed, and she was so groggy she could barely stay awake. 

After a long moment trying to pull herself together, Aurelia finally managed to clear her head. She pushed herself up, supporting her waist, and slowly shuffled out of the room. 

In the kitchen, Miranda was on the phone. “How many onions do I need? Just a quarter? Cool, got it. The potatoes are super soft now. Turn the heat down, right? Got it.” 

Hearing some movement behind her, Miranda turned and saw Aurelia awake. She said to the person on the phone, “Gotta go, my boss just woke up. Talk later!” 

After hanging up, Miranda explained to Aurelia, “Just called my mom to ask how to make her famous comfort soup. It’ll be done soon, hang tight.” 

Aurelia, totally wiped out, dropped herself into a chair at the dining table. 

Miranda brought over a bowl of soup. “Careful, it’s hot. Let it cool off a bit. Seriously, how much did you drink last night? You actually got wasted?” 

It was understandable that Miranda was so shocked. She had never seen Aurelia drunk, not even once since they’d met. Aurelia did not even get tipsy that one time she drank herself into a stomach bleed. 

Aurelia rubbed her temples, feeling completely wiped out. “Honestly, I have no idea. I didn’t even drink that much last night, but the weird thing is, I actually blacked out.” 

It was super rare for her. 

Back when she was drinking for work, she’d gotten drunk and thrown up plenty of times, but she’d never 

blacked out. 

All she could vaguely remember was leaving the private room, planning to call Miranda to come pick her up. 

After that, everything just went dark.

‘Damn, my head’s splitting,‘ Aurelia groaned, rubbing her temples as the pain only got worse the more she 

tried to think. 

“Come on, have some soup. It’ll make you feel better. Careful though, it’s still hot,” Miranda said. 

The soup actually worked. After Aurelia drank about half a bowl, she felt a bit more human. 

“Who taught you how to make this soup?” Aurelia asked. 

“My mom. I just called her to ask how to make it,” Miranda replied. 

Aurelia gave a casual “Oh, okay.” 

Miranda frowned. “What’s up? You don’t like it?” 

Aurelia shook her head. “No, it’s just…it tastes really familiar.” 

‘Honestly, it tastes almost exactly like the soup Cassian used to make for me, Aurelia thought to herself. 

Whenever she got wasted, Cassian would always be the one making her soup, 

After Aurelia built up her tolerance, she never had his soup again, but she never forgot the taste. 

The only difference was that Miranda’s version had a much stronger mushroom flavor. 

Since Aurelia didn’t really like mushrooms, Cassian would always go easy on them whenever he made the soup for her. 

“Isn’t soup pretty much always the same?” Miranda asked. 

Aurelia let out a wistful sigh. “Yeah, I guess it’s all the same.” 

The soup really did the trick. Her headache eased up, and her mind felt much clearer. Feeling more like herself, Aurelia got up to freshen up in the bathroom. 

She splashed cold water on her face, and the last bit of drunkenness was washed away. 

Just then, a blurry memory flickered in Aurelia’s mind, making her pause for a second. ‘Wait, what was that?” she wondered. 

‘Take it easy… That voice echoed in Aurelia’s mind, hazy and distant. 

‘Why are you looking for your phone?‘ another voice asked, just as blurry. 

‘To send some money, she heard herself reply in that half–remembered memory. 

Aurelia snapped her head up, staring at her reflection in the mirror, straining to catch more details. 

But aside from those scattered flashes, everything else was a complete blank. 

The only thing Aurelia was sure of was that she’d slept with someone last night.

Was it one of those male models from the club Aurelia wondered, her mind will fuzzy 

she wasn’t really sure, but she remembered the guy had a pretty great body 

He was definitely good in bed, too. She could tell just from how sore she was all over today, 

Seriously, couldn’t he have gone a little easier on me? Aurelia grumbled to herself. 

After freshening up. Aurelia called Jessica

‘Wait, did I really call for a male model myself?‘ she thought, baffled, 

“Aurelia, did you feel like something was off with the drinks last night? Maybe they spiked them or something? I’ve run into this before. Some clubs do shady stuff, secretly messing with the drinks so guests end up spending more,” Jessica said. 

“The worst part is, you can’t even prove it. You just have to suck it up and move on,” Jessica added. 

Aurelia was speechless. 

‘Looks like we both got played, Aurelia thought, a wave of annoyance washing over her. 

“That club’s officially on my blacklist from now on!’ she swore to herself. 

Aurelia went online and ordered the morning–after pill since she had no clue if the guy used protection or 

not. 

Even though the doctor said the odds of her getting pregnant were super low, she still took the morning–after pill, just in case. 

Aurelia didn’t make it to the office until the afternoon. As soon as she walked in, Scott came over to her. 

He said he’d set up another meeting with the CEO of Evergreen Group to talk about a potential partnership.

He was in such a good mood that he even cracked the crab and served the meat to her himself. 

“All the seafood here is flown in straight from overseas. They’re super fresh. Go ahead, give it a try,” he said. 

Tessa took a bite and grinned. “Wow, the texture’s amazing.” 

Kyler smiled, looking pretty pleased. “So, what made you suddenly want to grab dinner with me tonight?” 

“I’ve been so busy lately, but now that I’ve finally got some free time, of course I wanted to take you out for dinner,” Tessa said. 

She teased, “Why, you don’t want to have dinner with me?” 

“Are you kidding? I’m always down if you ask me out,” Kyler replied without hesitation. 

That made Tessa’s lips curl into a smile. 

To be honest, it was a last–minute decision for Tessa to hit up Kyler for dinner, and she only did so because she’d heard that Aurelia was trying to land a deal with Kyler. 

‘Isn’t Aurelia always the one grabbing all the best projects?‘ Tessa thought, a sly grin spreading across her face. 

‘Well, two can play that game. This time, I’m going after it too! There’s no way she’s beating me this time. Let’s see who comes out on top!‘ Tessa vowed, her eyes flashing with determination.
