Tessa stood right in front of Liam, but Liam didn’t even register her presence. 

To Liam, it was like Aurelia was the only person in the room. He only had eyes for her. 

Thankfully, when Tessa looked back at Cassian, he wasn’t focused on Aurelia anymore. 

“Let’s go and eat,” Cassian said, his tone flat and impossible to read. 

Tessa nodded obediently and followed him out, but as she walked, she couldn’t help glancing back at Aurelia, a mix of emotions flickering in her eyes. 

Ever since Liam spotted Aurelia, he was all smiles. His happiness was written on his face. 

Even with some distance between them, Tessa could sense there was something special about the way Liam looked at Aurelia. 

‘Since when did that start?‘ Tessa wondered to herself. 

On the way out, she kept turning the question over in her mind. 

When she first came back home, Liam was really nice to her. 

Liam wasn’t as warm or always at her beck and call like Jasper, but he’d make time for her whenever he could. 

But after a while, Tessa couldn’t get Liam to meet up anymore. 

Liam always said he was busy. 

Especially during that time when Tessa was trying to set Liam up with Karlie, she reached out to him many times, but he never agreed to meet. 

If she remembered right, that was exactly when Nietzki Corp and Regal Investment were working out their deal. 

Her gaze grew icy at that thought. 

Tessa thought, ‘Guess I really misjudged Aurelia. 

‘Dumb as a rock and useless at everything. Aurelia sure knows how to hook inen. 

Just like Alina said. 

‘Aurelia had managed to stay with Cassian for seven years. There is no way she is just some ordinary woman. 

If only I hadn’t underestimated Aurelia, Liam wouldn’t have ended up so taken with her.” 

Tessa steadied herself and turned to Cassian. “Since we bumped into Liam, can I ask him to grab a bite with 

us?”

Cassian glanced at her. “Do you want to?” 

Tessa said, “It just hit me. We haven’t hung out with Liam and the others in forever. You know, friendships need a little effort to keep going.” 

“I’ll call him,” Cassian said. 

Cassian always had her back, never asking why. 

Meanwhile, Liam was chatting with Aurelia when he saw Cassian’s name pop up on his phone. He barely hesitated before declining the call. 

Cassian didn’t even blink. He just told Tessa, “He didn’t pick up. Next time, then.” 

“Next time,” Tessa said, knowing there was no point pushing it now. 

‘If I really put my mind to it, I can always pull Liam back to my side,‘ Tessa thought with quiet confidence. 

Meanwhile, after Liam hung up on Cassian, he turned to Aurelia. “Hey, since we bumped into each other, how about grabbing some food together? There’s actually some stuff about our partnership I wanted to run by you.” 

Whenever work was mentioned, Aurelia never said no. 

Liam had learned that trick long ago. 

True to form, Aurelia didn’t even blink. “Sure, I’ll give Arturo a heads–up.” 

Liam picked the restaurant. It was the hottest influencer hotspot in Grendel City and the kind of place everyone was talking about online. 

Liam’d read tons of reviews saying it was the go–to spot for couples, so he didn’t hesitate to make a reservation ahead of time. 

But just as Liam and Aurelia arrived, they ended up running into Cassian and Tessa, who were already there, enjoying their meal. 

Liam, worried Cassian and Tessa’s presence might spoil Aurelia’s meal, quickly suggested, “Maybe we should eat somewhere else.” 

“Why switch?” Aurelia replied, surprisingly calm. “I actually like it here. The vibe’s good. Let’s stay.” 

To Aurelia, changing restaurants just felt like an unnecessary hassle. 

If they left now, they’d have to look for another place from scratch. 

For her, wasting time meant wasting money. 

Before heading inside, she made sure to tell Liam, “Seriously, you’re overthinking it. There’s no need to worry 

about me.”

Liam was struck by Aurelia’s unwavering confidence. He could barely keep his admiration and growing affection for her under wraps. 

Luckily, Aurelia didn’t catch him staring 

Liam rushed to keep up with her. Just in time, he pulled out her chair for her, doing his best to play the gentleman. 

Tessa took it all in, watching the scene play out with a complicated look in her eyes, 

Suddenly, the fancy foie gras on her plate tasted like nothing at all. 

Aurelia had been running around all day, and she was seriously starving 

When Liam told her to order whatever she wanted, she didn’t hold back. She picked out all her favorite dishes without a second thought. 

Liam thought to himself, ‘She’s so genuine. 

Honestly, I have no idea what was wrong with me back then. 

‘Why did I ever think Aurelia was fake and pretentious?‘ 

Thinking it over now. 

Back then, Aurelia was always orbiting around Cassian, making his every need her top priority. She’d lost herself completely. 

Jasper would’ve called her a hopeless simp. 

Even if hell froze over, Aurelia’d never leave Cassian’s side. 

The apocalypse never came, but Aurelia parted ways with Cassian. 

It was prime dinner hour, and the place was buzzing with diners. 

At the next table, a family of three was finishing up. The little girl, her mom having already made sure she was full, hopped off her chair and started circling the table. 

As she passed by Aurelia, she suddenly plopped herself into Aurelia’s lap. “Pretty lady!” 

Her mom called out, “Patti, don’t bother the nice lady while she’s eating. Come back here! Ella 

Aurelia quickly smiled and said, “It’s fine, really.”

sweetheart.” 

“You’re even prettier!” Patti chirped. 

Aurelia’s heart melted at Patti’s cuteness. She couldn’t help but smile, her whole face softening. “Want some pudding? This pudding is good.” 

“Alright,” Patti murmured. 

“How about I feed you?” Aurelia asked with a gentle smile. 

“Okay,” Patti said. 

Liam sat across from Aurelia, totally mesmerized by the scene. He didn’t want to look away for even a second. 

He’d never seen this soft side of Aurelia before. 

Every facet of her just blew him away. 

Liam tried to keep his excitement in check and asked, “Do you like kids?” 

“Yeah,” Aurelia replied. 

She was a sucker for kids who were adorable and well–mannered. 

If they were naughty kids… she’d pass. 

Whenever the talk drifted away from work, Aurelia would just give super short, almost dismissive answers. 

Most of the time, she’d end the conversation with a word or two. 

Liam had learned to keep things rolling himself. “So, how many kids do you want?” he asked. 

Aurelia’s gentle expression cooled a bit. 

She used to think about that. 

She’d even asked Cassian once how many kids he wanted. 

Back then, Cassian had told her, totally indifferent, that he didn’t like kids. 

Aurelia took his words at face value, and for a long time, it really got to her. 

She kept telling herself, ‘If he doesn’t want kids, that’s just how it is. 

So for all those seven years together, they were meticulous about contraception. 

Even if they forgot protection, Cassian would put a stop to it right away. 

Even when he was really worked up, he’d rather go take a cold shower than lay a finger on her.

Looking back now, Aurelia realized how clueless she’d been. 

It wasn’t that Cassian didn’t like kids. 

He just didn’t want to have kids with her.
