He’d asked her how many kids she planned to have. 

Aurelia absentmindedly rubbed her flat stomach, her emotions a complicated mess. 

Dr. Wright told her the chances of her getting pregnant were next to impossible. 

So, Aurelia might never get to be a mom in this lifetime. 

“I’m not having kids,” she said quietly. 

Aurelia just wasn’t lucky enough for that. 

Liam had been waiting all this time, only to get that answer. 

He was ready to agree with whatever Aurelia said. 

If she said she wanted two, he’d say two as well. 

Even if it was just pretending to be on the same page, he didn’t mind. 

So when Aurelia said that, Liam just rolled with it. “Wow, looks like we’re really in sync. Guess I’m not having kids either.” 

Aurelia, who’d been feeling a little down, couldn’t help but laugh at his comment. “Pretty sure that’s not up to you.” 

Bruce only has two kids, a boy and a girl. 

Liam’s the one who’s supposed to keep the family line going, so it’s not really his choice whether he wants 

kids or not. 

“If I don’t want kids, he can’t make me, right?” Liam laughed along. “When it comes to my own life, it’s my 

call.”

What he really meant was… He’d never go along with an arranged marriage. 

He’d only ever marry someone he actually loved. 

Liam wondered if Aurelia had picked up on his hint. 

After they finished eating, Aurelia was getting ready to head back to her hotel. 

Liam grinned, “Hey, let’s go together. Can you believe it? We’re staying at the same hotel.” 

Aurelia didn’t think much of it and just said, “Yeah, what are the odds?” 

Since they were both staying there, they just headed back together.

What Aurelia didn’t realize was that the moment she told the driver her hotel address, Liam texted his assistant, telling him to book a room at her hotel as soon as possible. 

And he meant quickly, without excuses. 

If his assistant delayed even a second, Liam would cut his bonus. 

His assistant didn’t dare hesitate and booked the room in record time. 

But thanks to the Game Developers Conference, every hotel around was packed to the brim, including the one Aurelia had checked into. 

The assistant still hadn’t managed to snag a room, and Liam was starting to get really antsy. 

But Liam was quick on his feet. He switched gears and brought up a business issue during the ride. 

He mentioned that a little bug had popped up during the self–driving car tests, and he needed to loop Tyson

Then he asked Aurelia if she was cool with having a quick three–way meeting. 

Liam had Aurelia wrapped around his finger again. 

And as always, work was the perfect excuse to get her to go along. 

So once they got to the hotel, Aurelia led Liam straight up to her room. 

Just as Liam and Aurelia stepped into the room, Cassian and Tessa showed up on the same hotel floor, right behind them. 

Tessa was the first to spot Liam and Aurelia, 

She blurted out in shock, “Wait, are they moving this fast? Hold up, are they actually living together now?” 

Tessa was so stunned, she didn’t even notice Cassian’s eyes go ice–cold for a split second right beside her. 

Aurelia and Liam had a meeting in her room with Tyson, and by the time they wrapped up, a whole hour had

Liam’s assistant had already messaged him thirty minutes earlier. The room was sorted. 

Liam stalled for another half hour, just to hang out with Aurelia a bit longer.

When it was finally time to go, Liam lingered, reluctant to say good night to Aurelia. “It’s getting late. You should get some rest. We’ll head back to Ashmont together tomorrow.” 

“Alright,” Aurelia murmured. 

As Liam stepped out of Aurelia’s room, ready to head back to his own, he was suddenly ambushed by someone all soft and sweet–smelling. 

“Liam, fancy running into you here!” the woman chirped. 

Liam barely had a chance to react before she had him pressed up against the wall. 

Once he got his bearings, he realized it was one of his ex–girlfriends. 

Liam tried to push her hands off his waist, but she just held on even tighter. 

She went in, trying to plant a kiss on him. 

Liam didn’t manage to dodge, so he quickly turned his head to the side. 

Her lips landed right where his collar met his neck, leaving a bold red lipstick mark behind. 

Liam was starting to get fed up. He gave her a sharp look and said, “Knock it off. Aren’t you worried I’ll tell your husband?” 

“Ugh, you’re no fun,” she pouted, finally letting go. “Back when we used to watch the moon together, you called me your little sweetheart! Now you’ve got someone new, and you’re threatening to rat me out? Men really are the worst.” 

“Alright, you’re married now. Try acting like it and quit fooling around,” Liam said, quickly putting some distance between them, just in case she tried anything else. 

Just then, her phone rang, probably her husband calling. She turned away, answering the call as she walked off. 

Only then did Liam head downstairs to the hotel lobby to check in. 

Just as he got to the elevator, Liam bumped into Cassian and Tessa. 

‘Freaking hell, just my luck. Why the hell do these two keep popping up everywhere I go?‘ Liam muttered to 

himself. 

Just as that thought crossed his mind, something else popped up in his head.

And Liam was the one who picked the restaurant. Aurelia had absolutely nothing to do with it. 

Liam had just been unfairly prejudiced against Aurelia before, always looking at her with preconceptions and biased eyes, and judging her. 

Liam thought, ‘Man, I really owe Aurelia an apology. 

Liam was still lost in his thoughts. 

Tessa shot him a cold look. “Liam, do you have something against me or what?” 

Kyler had already texted her about this earlier. 

Liam frowned. “What are you getting at?” 

“We’ve been trying to get you to come out for drinks or dinner, but you keep saying you’re busy. Now we finally bump into you here, and you won’t even answer Cassian’s calls. If we’ve done something to make you uncomfortable, say it. Don’t let this mess things up between us,” Tessa said, her voice chilly. 

“Especially Cassian. He thinks of you as a good friend,” she added. 

“You’re reading way too much into this,” Liam replied, his tone flat. Right now, all he wanted was to get back to his room and chill. He wasn’t about to waste energy on pointless drama. 

To Tessa, Liam’s attitude totally came off as impatient and dismissive. 

Tessa thought, ‘Seriously? I’ve explained everything, and he’s still not listening? 

‘What did Aurelia even do to him to make him like this? 

Is he really ditching his longtime friends just for a woman?‘ 

Seeing Liam about to leave, Tessa anxiously reached out to stop him. 

Liam immediately shook her off. 

Out of nowhere, Cassian grabbed Liam by the collar and socked him hard in the jaw. 

Liam felt like his jaw was about to split in two, and the brute force knocked him flat on the ground.

He didn’t pull any punches. His fist landed with just as much force.
