After taking a solid punch, Cassian didn’t back off. He fired back with a punch at Liam.

“You think you’re tough, huh?” Liam wiped the blood off his mouth, glaring at Cassian as he spoke. 

Liam and Cassian started grappling, neither backing down. 

They went at it with punches and kicks, every hit landing hard. 

Tessa was frantic, desperate to step in and break up the fight. 

Liam and Cassian were so wrapped up in their brawl that they didn’t even notice her. Out of nowhere, someone shoved Tessa, who couldn’t even tell who. 

Tessa staggered and crashed to the ground, her head slamming into a flowerpot nearby. The pain was so sharp, stars burst before her eyes. 

Seeing that neither of them was about to stop, Tessa could only shout for help. 

After seeing Liam off, Aurelia took a quick shower and was ready to crash. 

She’d been running around all day and was totally wiped out. All she wanted was to get some sleep. 

Just as she was starting to drift off, the racket outside kept her wide awake. No way she was getting any sleep 

now. 

The commotion was too much. Aurelia threw on her hotel bathrobe and stepped out to see what was happening. 

Before she even saw anyone, she heard Tessa’s voice trembling with tears. “Please, you guys, stop fighting!” 

‘Is there some juicy drama happening?‘ Aurelia thought. Her drowsiness disappeared in a flash. 

She picked up her pace, excited to catch the show. 

But before she could even catch the action, she saw Liam go down hard in the hallway, his face already showing a nasty bruise. 

She rushed over to help him. “What happened?” 

Liam grimaced, “Beats me. I was beaten out of nowhere.” 

Cassian wasn’t faring any better. He was sprawled out on the floor, too, with blood at the corner of his mouth. 

Not far away, Tessa was sitting on the ground, holding her forehead where she’d been hurt, her eyes red and puffy. She looked absolutely pitiful. 

Aurelia didn’t bother feeling sorry for Tessa and Cassian. She just helped Liam to his feet.

She looked worried, her tone full of concern. “Are you hurt badly? Do you need to go to the hospital?” 

“It’s fine, just a flesh wound,” Liam said, not wanting Aurelia to think he was weak. “I hit him back, too.” 

Cassian pushed himself up to a sitting position, but didn’t bother to stand. He just stayed put, brooding. 

He wiped the blood off his mouth with the back of his hand, fixing Aurelia with an icy, unblinking stare. 

‘She showered that fast. What’s she trying to cover up?‘ Cassian wondered, suspicion gnawing at him. 

Once things finally calmed down, Tessa was able to check on Cassian. “Cassian, are you hurt?” 

“I’m fine,” Cassian said, glancing away from Aurelia and fixing his eyes on Liam instead. 

That glaring lipstick mark on Liam’s collar burned into Cassian’s eyes again, making his blood boil. 

Tessa’s forehead was pounding, her head spinning. Deep down, she felt a little hurt, like nobody cared. 

Cassian hadn’t even noticed she was injured at all. 

“Cassian, my head hurts,” Tessa called out, hoping he’d finally pay attention. 

That’s when Cassian finally saw the bruise on her forehead. He scrambled to his feet and asked, “How did you get hurt?” 

“I 

got hurt trying to break you guys up,” Tessa said, sounding a little aggrieved. 

“Let’s go to the hospital,” Cassian said right away. 

“Okay, and you should get checked out, too,” Tessa replied. 

They were both looking out for each other. 

Aurelia couldn’t be bothered by them. She checked again with Liam, “Are you really sure you don’t need to go to the hospital?” 

“Nah, I’m not that fragile,” Liam replied. 

“Then come to my room, I’ll patch you up,” Aurelia said. 

Liam jumped at the chance, about to say yes right away. 

But Cassian suddenly chimed in, “You should get and check out at the hospital too.” 

‘Wait, was Cassian actually showing some concern?‘ Liam thought, a little surprised. 

“I’m fine,” Liam replied immediately. 

Tessa tried to convince Liam, “You should still see a doctor, since you were caught up in all this.” 

Aurelia arched her brow, clearly amused.

‘Seriously? These two are actually throwing punches over Tessa? Unbelievable! Aurelia thought, her inner gossip coming alive. 

With that, Aurelia let go of Liam and said, “Alright, go and get checked out at the hospital. If you’ve got a head injury, that’s no joke.” 

‘He can barely see straight as it is. If his brain gets messed up, too, he’s totally screwed; she thought to herself, 

Aurelia yawned, “I’m outta here. I’m heading back to my room to crash.” 

“I…” Liam could only watch helplessly as Aurelia walked away, his eyes full of longing and a bit of frustration. 

Just like that, she was gone. Left me hanging,’ he thought, feeling even more lost. 

Cassian’s frown loosened a bit, but he was still impatient as he snapped at Liam, “Stop spacing out. Move it?

Jasper didn’t touch down in Grendel City until late at night. 

He was supposed to go with Tessa to the Game Developers Conference, but something came up with his dad, and he got held up. 

As soon as he landed, he called Tessa right away. 

When Jasper found out she was at the hospital, he was freaking out. He had her send him the location and hopped in a cab straight from the airport to the hospital. 

When he got there, he was shocked to see all three of them looking pretty beat up. 

Jasper was totally confused. “What the hell happened?” 

Cassian looked pissed and wasn’t about to say a word. 

Liam was stubborn, too, keeping his mouth shut just the same. 

Only Tessa spoke up, “Honestly, it was all just a big misunderstanding. We bumped into Liam at the Game Developers Conference. Cassian called to ask him out for dinner, but Liam just hung up. I tried to ask Liam a few more things, worried they might end up on bad terms. 

“I guess it’s kinda my fault. Maybe I sounded a little harsh and didn’t make myself clear. Liam got mad and shoved me, then Cassian jumped in to defend me and threw a punch at him. Next thing I knew, they were going at it. 

“I got hurt just trying to break up their fight.” 

Jasper just stared at them, totally dumbfounded. “What are you guys, toddlers? Who gets into fistfights with 

their own friends?” 

Liam scoffed, “Ask him. He started it.”

“Like I need a reason to hit you,” Cassian snapped, still shooting daggers at Liam.

Jasper tried to break the tension with a joke. “Seriously, you know Cassian treats Tessa like she’s his whole world. Why’d you go and shove her when you know how he is?” 

“Don’t blame me. I didn’t shove her! He was the one losing it first, alright?” Liam shot back. 

“Alright, that’s enough!” Jasper cut in, waving his hands to stop the argument. “Let’s just drop it, both of you. Get patched up, and let’s head back to the hotel. I’m seriously about to pass out here.” 

With Jasper stepping in, the two finally put their feud on ice. 

After getting their wounds taken care of, they finally made it back to the hotel. It was well past midnight by then. 

Liam went to the front desk to check in. 

Cassian was about to head upstairs, but froze for a second. 

Tessa glanced back, not getting it. “Cassian, what’s up?” 

“It’s nothing,” Cassian mumbled, not meeting her eyes. 

Early the next morning, Jasper dragged everyone out for breakfast. 

He was still trying to get Liam and Cassian to bury the hatchet. 

They’d really gone at it yesterday. Even after getting patched up, their faces were still looking pretty banged up, with obvious swelling and bruises. 

When Liam sat down, he didn’t even bother looking at Cassian. He just whipped out his phone and started texting Aurelia. 

Liam: [You up yet?] 

[Had breakfast?] 

Aurelia replied. [Not yet, I’m about to head down to the restaurant.] 

Liam: [Stick to the right side when you get there. Don’t come anywhere near the left.] Liam wanted to keep Aurelia far away from Cassian and the drama. 

Aurelia caught on instantly and shot him an [OK] in reply, 

“Who are you texting so early in the morning?” Jasper leaned over, trying to sneak a peek at Liam’s phone. 

Liam quickly covered the screen, refusing to let him see. 

“Who are you hiding, Liam? Got a secret girl stashed away?” Jasper teased. 

“Can’t you just eat and keep your mouth shut?” Liam shot back.
