Mandy let out a sigh. All the women he picks are the same. I can’t stand any of them” 

Hearing that, Alina smirked. “Liam’s taste really needs some work. That woman? She’s really not it. F’res jerse looking out for you, Mrs. Porter 

Seeing how sure Alina was, Mandy finally asked, curious. So, what’s this woman’s name? 

Just then. Aurelia’s number was called at the counter, so she got up to grab her pastries. 

Meanwhile, Alina said, “Her name is Aurelia Corin 

Mandy looked puzzled. “Why does that name sound so familiar?” 

Alina was just about to say something. 

But Mandy suddenly cut in. “Hold on, let me call Bruce and double–check? 

With that, she dialed Bruce’s number. 

As soon as Bruce picked up, Mandy blurted out, “Bruce, what was the name of that girl you mentioned last time? Was her last name Corin?” 

Bruce told her the name. 

Mandy smacked her leg, saying, “Aurelia Corin, right? That’s the one, isn’t it? 

“That’s it! Call Liam and tell him to get his butt home and come clean. 

Alina, catching the urgency in Mandy’s tone, thought Mandy couldn’t wait to put a stop to Liam’s plans, and grinned to herself in satisfaction. 

So these two already know exactly who Aurelia is, Alina mused. ‘No wonder they got all riled up the second her name came up. Turns out I was worrying for nothing. 

Mandy was clearly in a rush. As soon as she hung up, she made a quick exit, telling Alina she had something to deal with at home. 

“Don’t worry about it, just go and handle it. No point dragging it out, or things might get messy,” Alina said, acting all understanding as she saw Mandy out. 

Once Mandy was gone, Alina called Tessa and filled her in on what had just happened. 

When Tessa heard that Mandy wasn’t a fan of Aurelia, she finally felt a weight lift off her shoulders. 

Alina reassured her, “Honestly, you really don’t need to worry. With Aurelia’s background, she’s not even on the Porter family’s radar, She’s just a pretty face to Liam, that’s all. Totally not worth worrying about 

Tessa realized she’d been stressing over nothing and let out a small laugh. “Got it.”

But neither of them realized Mandy was hurrying home to check with Liam herself.

Liam’s parents had frantically called him home, not telling him anything over the phone. He thought it must be something urgent. 

But as soon as he walked in, Mandy rushed over and started grilling him. “I heard you’ve been spending a lot of time with Aurelia lately. Are you chasing after her?” 

Liam was caught off guard. “How did you know?” 

‘Was I really that obvious?‘ he wondered. 

“You little brat, keeping secrets from us!” Mandy gave him a light kick. “So, how’s it going? How far have you gotten with her?” 

“I’ve already met her parents,” Liam replied. 

Bruce nearly jumped off the couch. “Already?” 

Liam scratched his head. “It’s not what you guys think. I just walked her home and happened to bump into her mother for a minute. Nothing formal, really.” 

Bruce looked disappointed. “You call that meeting the parents? That’s just showing your face, not even making a real impression!” 

Even Mandy started giving him a hard time. “Are you even trying? When you’re chasing a girl, you gotta make your move first, got it?” 

“I get what you’re saying, but… are you two even aware of her history?” Liam paused, debating with himself, then finally decided to lay it all out. 

He came clean and told them that Aurelia had actually dated Cassian for seven years. 

Mandy wrinkled her nose in disgust. “That Cassian guy is just the worst! Seven years? How many seven–year periods does a girl even get in her life? If your dad ever tried that with me, I’d make sure he never had a chance to have kids!” 

Bruce just sat there, speechless. 

Liam had always known his mom was a force to be reckoned with. 

Still, he couldn’t help but ask, “Shouldn’t you guys think she’s not good enough for me? I mean, we’re not really a match, status–wise, and her past isn’t exactly spotless when it comes to relationships.” 

Mandy snorted, half laughing, half annoyed. “Look at you, acting all high and mighty when you’re no saint yourself! She’s only ever had one serious relationship. It’s not like she’s got a rap sheet! 

“And she stuck with that guy for seven years! That means she’s loyal and knows how to commit. What about you? Can you even count your exes on one hand? 

“Hopeless player!

“Seriously, how did you not inherit your dad’s and my loyalty gene? Did the hospital swap you out for someone else or what?” 

Seeing his mom getting carried away, Liam quickly cut her off. “Come on, nothing’s even official yet Don’t get ahead of yourselves.” 

“Just give it your all,” Bruce said. “That girl seems solid to me. She’s got ambition, guts, and most importantly, brains! Honestly, she balances you out perfectly.” 

Liam was speechless. 

Wait, is he saying I’m the dumb one here?‘ Liam thought. 

Bruce always put ability above everything else. 

Bruce thought, ‘Who gives a damn about family background? 

‘If Liam ever married some airhead heiress, she’d burn through our fortune before we could blink!” 

That was something Bruce’d picked up from Benjamin. 

“I want to meet her, too. Make it happen,” Mandy demanded, clearly put out. “Why am I the only one in the family who hasn’t met her yet?” 

Liam replied, “Turns out, there’s actually an opportunity coming up.”

The opportunity Liam was talking about was Nietzki Corp’s new car launch event. 

As a business partner, Aurelia was naturally on the guest list. 

As soon as Aurelia arrived at the event, Liam came over to greet her. 

He even personally led her to her seat. 

Tessa arrived just after Aurelia, but Liam didn’t even spare her a glance. 

Tessa flashed a mocking smile. 

Ever since Liam started spending time with Aurelia, he’d been getting colder and colder toward Tessa. 

Tessa thought, ‘Bet Aurelia’s been turning him against me. 

‘She really goes all out. 

‘Does she really think she can just waltz into the Porter family like that?

Just then, Jasper and Cassian walked in. 

Jasper teased, “Tessa, why’d you come in by yourself? Didn’t even wait for us 

Tessa explained, “Cassian said it was windy out, so he told me to go in first 

Jasper grinned, looking like he was totally shipping them. 

“Let’s go say hi to Liam,” Cassian suggested. 

So the group headed over to Liam. 

Liam had already gotten Aurelia settled. Spotting them, he came over to greet them. “Don’t stand on ceremony, just relax and make yourselves at home.” 

Jasper grinned. “Come on, we’re friends. No need to be so formal.” 

Before they could even start chatting, Mandy stormed over, all fired up. “Where’s Aurelia?” 

Tessa arched an eyebrow. 

Tessa thought, ‘Mrs. Porter’s in such a hurry. Looks like we’re in for a show. 

‘Wonder if she’ll actually throw Aurelia out of the launch conference. 

‘Nah, probably not. They’re business partners. They gotta keep things civil. 

But one thing was certain. They will give Aurelia a serious cold shoulder.‘ 

“Mom, you’re going to freak her out,” Liam whispered, trying to rein her in. 

Mandy forced a smile. “How about this? Do I look friendly now?” 

“Honestly, that’s even scarier,” Liam muttered. 

Mandy almost lost her cool. “Move aside, I’ll go and say hi myself.” 

Aurelia was flipping through the event brochure when a matronly, affluent–looking woman strolled over with a beaming smile. “Ms. Corin?” 

“Hello,” Aurelia replied, not recognizing her, but still stood up and shook her hand. 

“Lovely, lovely,” Mandy said, unable to take her eyes off Aurelia as she looked her up and down. “You really are beautiful.” 

Jasper watched the scene unfold, totally baffled. “What’s up with Mrs. Porter? She’s looking at Aurelia like she’s already her future daughter–in–law or something.”
