At the hospital.Â

After the doctor announced that Murel was out of danger, Aurelia let out a long sigh of relief.Â
She told the caregiver to head home first, while she stayed behind to wait for Murel to wake up.Â
During that time, Gideon messaged her to ask how things were going.Â
Aurelia replied that a friend had suddenly fainted, but after being sent to the hospital, he was now out of danger.Â
Gideon asked which hospital she was at. He was probably thinking of coming over to see her.Â
Aurelia sent him the hospital address.Â
When Gideon arrived, Murel had just woken up.Â
Murel felt a pang of guilt when he saw how worried Aurelia looked. “Ms. Corin, sorry for all the trouble I put you through.”Â
“Don’t say that. Just focus on getting better. Your health is what matters most,” Aurelia said gently.Â
Murel let out a helpless sigh. “My heart’s always been weak. It’s genetic. I can’t really do much about it.”Â
Still, he was curious how Aurelia managed to find out about his fainting so quickly.Â
“When I visited your place before, I noticed some heart meds on your coffee table. So I asked your caregiver to keep a closer eye on you, and to let me know right away if anything seemed off,” Aurelia explained.Â
Murel’s wife and kid were back home, so he was all by himself in the house.Â
Normally, only the part–time caregiver came by, so Aurelia had mentioned it to her.Â
She never thought it would actually happen.Â
It was lucky that she was careful. Otherwise, the consequences would have been unimaginable.Â
The thought honestly freaked Murel out. He was only thirty–five, and his kid was just five.Â
If something had really happened to him, it would’ve been the end of the world for his family.Â
This time, he only made it through because Aurelia kept an eye out for him.Â
“Thank you, Ms. Corin. You really saved my life,” Murel said gratefully.Â
Aurelia told him not to dwell on it. His recovery was the most important thing right now.Â
She found someone reliable to look after Murel, told him to rest up and focus on getting better, and thenÂ
headed out of the room with Gideon.Â
As they waited for the elevator, Gideon asked if she was hungry.Â
After all, she’d barely had a chance to eat anything before rushing out earlier.Â
After all that running around, Aurelia realized she really was pretty hungry.Â
Gideon reached out and ruffled Aurelia’s hair, just like he used to. “I knew you’d be hungry. I already made at reservation at a restaurant. We can head over and eat right away. Let’s go.”Â
The elevator doors slid open.Â
Tessa was chatting with Cassian. “I’m flying out to Weston tomorrow for the Dreamscape launch, so I can’t help you take care of your injury. Jasper will keep you company instead.”Â
“No worries, work comes first. It’s just a scratch–I can deal with it myself,” Cassian said lightly.Â
Tessa was about to say something else, but when her eyes landed on the two people outside the elevator, she paused mid–sentence.Â
Tessa called out, “Gideon.”Â
But the moment she saw Aurelia standing next to him, her expression instantly frosted over.Â
Gideon just gave a casual nod, barely acknowledging them.Â
Aurelia didn’t even bother looking at the people in the elevator, her attention was already on the next oneÂ
over.Â
Cassian’s eyes just instinctively followed her.Â
Aurelia could feel someone staring at her. She glanced up and locked eyes with Cassian’s dark, fathomlessÂ
eyes.Â
Aurelia’s expression almost subconsciously turned cold.Â
Cassian narrowed his eyes and withdrew his gaze.Â
At that moment, the elevator doors slid shut, sealing everything off.Â
Gideon noticed that Aurelia wasn’t the same as she used to be.Â
Even when she came across Cassian, not a single flicker of emotion crossed her face. No joy, no anger, nothing at all.Â
It was as if he was nothing but a stranger to her now.Â

The next morning, Aurelia woke up early and cooked up some homemade chicken soup, then brought it toÂ
Murel at the hospital.Â
But she happened to bump into Jasper in the lobby.Â
When Jasper saw Aurelia, his first instinct was to duck out of sight.Â
But then, almost as if something was pulling the strings, he stopped himself without even thinking.Â
His eyes landed on the thermos in Aurelia’s hand, and he shot her a teasing look, raising an eyebrow.Â
It was like Jasper finally found an excuse to needle her, and he couldn’t hold back. “So much for acting all virtuous. You made a big deal about not coming to see Cassian before, but here you are now.”Â
“Guess you figured you could show up since Tessa isn’t around today, huh?”Â
Aurelia’s eyes held a trace of cool indifference. “Maybe you missed your calling as a scriptwriter.”Â
That jab went straight for Jasper’s weak spot.Â
He instantly blew up.Â
“Aurelia, why do something if you can’t own up to it? Don’t tell me that soup isn’t for Cassian,” Jasper sneered.Â
‘Totally not worth it, she thought, ignoring him completely.Â
She just kept walking, heading straight inside.Â
But Jasper just wouldn’t let it drop. He kept hounding her, his voice dripping with sarcasm. “So, Cassian saves you by some freak accident and now you’re all sentimental again? You really think you’ve still got a shot, so you’re back here clinging to him?”Â
“Seriously, you’re way too full of yourself!”Â
“Cassian and Tessa are about to get engaged. You don’t even have a chance, so stop wasting your time!”Â
“And honestly, no matter how much you try to compete, it’s useless. Tessa’s just better than you! Whatever she does, you just copy her. She works on AI, you jump on AI; she bids for the port project, you bid too; she makes a game, you scramble to make one. And look at the results–her game’s blowing up, and yours? Still nowhere.”Â
Then, as if he’d just figured it all out, Jasper’s eyes widened with sudden realization, a smirk spreading across his face. “Wait, don’t tell me you’re doing all this just to get Cassian’s attention?”Â
‘Some things never change—Aurelia’s still all about stirring up drama,‘ Jasper thought, rolling his eyes.Â
Aurelia was about to just tune him out, treating his words like the yapping of a dog. She had a packed schedule. After checking in on Murel, she still had a meeting to rush back to.Â
But being hounded like this was seriously starting to grate on her nerves.Â
So she suddenly stopped in her tracks, shooting Jasper a frosty glare.Â
Just a second ago, Jasper was all cocky and full of himself, but the moment Aurelia shot him that icy glare, he suddenly felt a wave of unease wash over him.Â
“W–What? Did I say something wrong? Tessa really is better than you…” Jasper stammered, not even realizing how shaky his voice sounded.Â
“If you’ve got so much time to play third wheel in someone else’s love story, maybe you should try learning how to actually run a company, so your father can stick around a little longer,” Aurelia shot back.Â
EverMass Group was going downhill fast, and Jasper was betting everything on Dreamscape.Â
He was counting on Dreamscape’s profits to bail out EverMass Group’s sinking finances.Â
‘Delusional,‘ Aurelia thought, rolling her eyes.Â
“Honestly, I hope Cassian and Tessa get married as soon as possible and stay tied together for life,” Aurelia retorted coldly.Â
‘Everyone here is just delusional, she thought.Â
‘Do they really think Cassian is some kind of prize?‘Â
When she had loved him, he might’ve been a treasure to her.Â
But now that she didn’t, he was just a weed.Â
Jasper was totally shocked, left with his mouth hanging open, not a single word coming out.Â
Aurelia felt the air finally clear, and since she was on a tight schedule, she made her exit.Â
But just as she was about to leave, Jasper suddenly shouted from behind, “Cassian!”Â
Aurelia’s brows furrowed before she even realized it.Â
‘Why does trouble keep finding me every single day?‘ she grumbled inwardly.Â
‘I keep bumping into Cassian no matter where I go. This is just bizarre.’Â
Cassian fixed his gaze on Aurelia, those dark eyes swirling with a hint of something thoughtful.Â
After a beat, he spoke up, voice cool as ever. “Last time I asked for your blessing, you wouldn’t even say a word. Now you’re suddenly willing to speak up?”Â
Aurelia was so speechless.Â
‘Honestly, maybe that stone pot of beef stew I dumped on his head really did mess with his brain,‘ she thought, rolling her eyes.Â
Cassian, ever the gentleman, just said calmly, “I got your blessing. Thanks.”Â
Some moments just leave people completely at a loss for words.Â
Aurelia didn’t waste another breath. She just strode off, not even glancing back.Â
Jasper just stood there, staring at Aurelia’s determined figure as she walked away, completely stunned.Â
‘Wait, this isn’t at all how I thought it would go, he thought, feeling confused.Â
‘Wasn’t that soup for Cassian?‘ The question nagged at him, leaving him even more baffled.Â
