Chapter 207Â
The man lunged at Aurelia, trying to get right in her face.Â
But with tape wrapped around her face, he couldn’t get to her skin, which annoyed him. So he went for her neck instead, trying to press his lips there.Â
Aurelia instantly broke out in goosebumps, feeling so disgusted she wanted to throw up.Â
But her mouth was gagged tight, and she could barely breathe.Â
No matter how much she begged for help, no one would come to her rescue.Â
This was the most hopeless moment of her life.Â
The man’s hands were creeping up her waist, trying to rip her clothes off.Â
Suddenly, the sounds of a fight erupted outside.Â
Someone shouted, “Who the hell are you?”Â
No one answered.Â
The chaos, with screams echoing, was closing in on the room.Â
The man assaulting Aurelia sensed something was wrong outside and shouted, “Photon, what the hell’s going on out there?”Â
“Boss, someone’s here!”Â
Before Photon could say more, he let out a blood–curdling scream, like he was getting beaten badly.Â
The man jerked back to reality and scrambled off Aurelia.Â
The instant his weight was gone, Aurelia gasped for air, feeling like she’d just come back to life.Â
But before she could even catch her breath, she felt something cold and metallic press against her temple.Â
It was a gun.Â
Aurelia’s mind spun. These guys actually had guns,Â
Before Aurelia could even process what was happening, the man roughly yanked her off the bed, dragging her by the hair toward the door.Â
The chaos outside was finally quieting down.Â
The man yelled, “Hey, you here to rescue this pretty girl? I’m warning you, calm down. My bullets don’t have eyes!”Â
He jammed the gun against Aurelia’s temple, making her stifle a pained grunt.Â
The fighting stopped abruptly.Â
Photon spat out, still cursing, “Shit, that guy’s got moves. He wiped the floor with all of us.”Â
“Hands up!” the boss shouted, holding Aurelia hostage to threaten the other guy.Â
Seeing the guy obey, Photon finally snapped. He snatched up a baseball bat and marched over to take his shot.Â

He slammed the bat into the guy’s leg, cursing, “Think you’re so tough? I’ll show you!”Â
“You are quite brave, showing up here all alone to try and save someone,” the boss sneered.Â

Seeing the guy forced down to his knees, he snickered, “Are you her boyfriend or something? Willing to put your life on the line for this bitch?”Â
Not a word out of him, no matter how much they beat or mocked him.Â
The gun never once budged from Aurelia’s temple.Â
Aurelia was so nervous she was sweating bullets.Â
Whoever managed to find her this fast had to be Zofia’s crew.Â
But she just couldn’t figure out why only one person had come.Â
Even though she couldn’t see clearly, she could tell there were at least seven or eight guys on the other side.Â
And they had guns.Â
There was only one guy trying to save her. No way he could take them all on.Â
Aurelia frantically shook her head, desperate to warn the guy not to play the hero for her sake. This wasn’t the time to go picking a fight.Â
Photon took a couple more swings, feeling better now. He tossed the bat aside and asked the boss, “So, what do we do with him?”Â
“Hang him up,” the boss ordered.Â
As Photon went to tie the guy up, the boss let his guard down, hauling Aurelia back to continue his dirty business.Â
Photon and the others started cracking crude jokes, “Boss, are you still hard? If you can’t handle it, maybe we’ll take a turnÂ
first.”Â
“You kidding me? I’m the top stud in this city. Just wait your damn turn!” the boss shot back, full of himself.Â
Amid their crude laughter, the boss dragged Aurelia back inside.Â
They barely made it a few steps when a furious shout exploded from behind, “What the hell do you think you’re doing?”Â
In the blink of an eye, someone grabbed Aurelia, yanking her back hard.Â
The world spun wildly around her, and then, a gunshot shattered the chaos.Â
She heard a muffled cry of pain, and her nostrils were suddenly flooded with the thick, coppery scent of blood.Â
Aurelia’s heart seized with dread. Her rescuer had just been shot.Â
“I’ll fucking beat you to death!” Photon yelled, swinging the bat furiously.Â
The world spun as someone grabbed her, rolling with her to shield her from the blows. Amid the chaos, Aurelia could just make out the heavy thuds of the bat landing on the man’s arm as he protected her.Â
Aurelia’s head slammed into something hard, and she blacked out instantly.Â

Aurelia slowly regained consciousness, her head throbbing so badly it felt like it might split open. The sound of crying filled her cars as she woke up.Â
“Why isn’t Aurelia waking up? What if she never wakes up? What are we supposed to do then?” Miranda’s voice trembled with worry as she wailed.Â
“Even if Aurelia becomes a vegetable, I’ll take care of you for the rest of my life!” Miranda sobbed, her voice choked with emotion.Â
Aurelia’s head was pounding even harder. She squeezed Miranda’s hand back with all the strength she could muster, trying to signal that she was awake.Â
But Miranda was too lost in her crying to notice anything else. She just kept sobbing.Â
It was Murel who finally saw Aurelia wake up. He called out to Miranda, who was still crying uncontrollably, “Hurry, call the doctor! Ms. Corin’s awake!”Â
Miranda stopped crying on a dime, scrubbing at her tears. The moment she realized Aurelia was actually awake, she slammed the emergency button.Â
After a whirlwind of commotion, the doctor rushed in to give Aurelia a quick check–up.Â
Zofia, looking frail and worried, was helped into Aurelia’s hospital room by a servant. Her voice trembled as she asked, “Doctor, how is she doing?”Â
“Looks like she’s got a moderate concussion. She needs to stay in bed and get plenty of rest,” the doctor said.Â
He glanced at Aurelia and asked, “Is your head hurting?”Â
Aurelia gave a small, determined nod.Â
The doctor continued, “That’s totally normal. You’ll probably have a bad headache, maybe throw up, feel dizzy or off balance, get moody, or have trouble sleeping. You really need to stay in bed and rest. If anything feels off, just call for me right away.”Â
“Thank you, doctor,” Zofia said, her voice full of gratitude.Â
Miranda pulled over a chair for her, and Zofia finally turned to Aurelia. “It’s okay now, Aurelia. Just focus on getting better. As for everything else, Darren’s got it covered. We won’t let anyone who hurt you get away with it.”Â
Aurelia felt awful, like the whole world was spinningÂ
spinning and she could barely hold herself together.Â
Still, she managed to choke out a question to Zofia, her voice weak, “Is the person who saved me okay?”Â
“He’s fine, really. Don’t worry about it. Just rest up, Aurelia. If you’re feeling bad, don’t force yourself to talk,” Zofia reassured her softly.Â
When Aurelia heard that her rescuer was safe, she finally let herself relax. She drifted off again, still dazed, not waking up until noon the next day.Â
Her head was still dizzy, but way better than yesterday.Â
Her brain was finally starting to get back in gear.Â
Miranda was chattering away, catching Aurelia up on what went down.Â
Miranda said Darren had already caught those guys and handed them over to the police. They were going to face serious consequences.Â

Kidnapping was a major crime here, and none of them are getting off the hook.Â
She also mentioned that when Zofia found out Aurelia had been kidnapped, she was so shocked that she passed out right then and there.Â
Zofia’s been staying in the hospital these past couple of days, in the room right next to Aurelia’s.Â
While Aurelia was unconscious, Zofia kept coming by to check on her, clearly anxious and worried.Â
“Can you help me sit up? I need to go check on her,” Aurelia insisted, her voice weak but full of worry.Â
Miranda rushed to stop her. “You can’t, Aurelia! The doctor said you have to stay in bed. If you get up now, you’ll just end up vomiting, feeling miserable, or even hurting yourself.”Â
“Besides Mrs. Keith, is there anyone else hospitalized?” Aurelia asked, her voice still weak but full of concern.Â
Despite all the chaos that day, Aurelia couldn’t shake the memory that someone had taken a bullet just to save her.Â
