After a pause, he added, “They didn’t leave the hotel together until this afternoon.” 

Tessa’s lips curled into a knowing smirk. 

‘Aurelia really keeps hitting new lows,. She actually went to his room just to get herself into this conference,’ Tessa thought. 

Kyler found it ironic too. 

In back–to–back days, he’d seen Aurelia leaving the hotel with different men. 

And the age gap was huge. 

Ryan was twice her age, and she still didn’t hesitate. 

‘This is just insane, Kyler thought. 

He found himself losing even more respect for Aurelia. 

But it made him appreciate people like Tessa even more, and those who relied on their own strength and hard work to get ahead. 

Before Cassian returned, Kyler excused himself in a gentlemanly manner. 

He didn’t want to intrude on Tessa’s happiness. 

Cassian came back pretty fast, and Tessa noticed that after he showed up, he didn’t even acknowledge Aurelia’s existence. 

Tessa saw that he didn’t even spare her a single glance. 

Cassian acted like Aurelia wasn’t even there. 

That discovery totally lifted Tessa’s spirits.

Cassian really put in more effort for Tessa than Kyler ever did.

Kyler tore his gaze away from Tessa, pulled himself together, and headed over to Ryan.

Now that Ryan had publicly announced he wouldn’t be working with Ascend Group, that opened the door for everyone else. 

There was no way Kyler was going to let this chance slip by. 

Even though Aurelia, the girl he couldn’t stand, was hanging around Ryan, Kyler sucked it up for the sake of the deal. 

When he went over to greet them, he completely ignored Aurelia and only spoke to Ryan. 

“Mr. Walker, fancy running into you again,” Kyler said. 

“Mr. Kyler,” Ryan replied with a polite nod. 

“Mind if we have a word?” Kyler asked, wanting to talk to Ryan alone. 

Aurelia caught on and, to give them some privacy, offered, “How about I help you over to a seat, so you two can talk?” 

But Ryan shook his head. “No need, Kyler. I know exactly what you want to talk about, so I’ll be upfront with you. I’ve already made a better choice.” 

Kyler’s heart skipped a beat, and he couldn’t help but ask, “Can I ask who you’ve chosen, Mr. Walker?” 

“I’ll be announcing it shortly,” Ryan replied.

“Ms. Corin,” Wade greeted her. 

Wade arrived, a bit late. 

He was attending the conference as a government representative. 

The moment he walked in, his eyes locked onto Aurelia and never left. 

Once the crowd around her thinned out, he finally made his way over to say hello. 

He also shot Kyler a nod. 

“Mr. Lautner,” Aurelia greeted him with a polite nod. 

“Is your head still hurting?” Wade asked, his concern clearly different from everyone else’s. 

Aurelia smiled and shook her head. “I’m fine now, but thanks for checking on me.” 

“Glad to hear it,” Wade replied. 

Kyler picked up on something weird in Wade’s tone. 

He’d known Wade for years, and he’d never seen him show this much concern for anyone. 

Plus, the way Wade was looking at Aurelia was just… off. 

Kyler frowned, suddenly remembering Wade once said he’d met a woman he liked back in Ashmont. His gut told him this couldn’t be good. 

Wade was hoping to exchange a few pleasantries with Aurelia, but someone came over to discuss her speech draft. 

Once Ryan was taken care of, Aurelia quickly left with them. 

Wade had no choice but to drop it.

Kyler, feeling uneasy about his hunch, blurted out to Wade, “You know Aurelia well?” 

“Eh, kind of,” Wade shrugged, keeping it vague. 

Calling it ‘well–acquainted‘ felt off. There was still a bit of distance between them. 

But saying they weren’t close didn’t really cover how he felt about her. 

Still, Kyler got the message.

He knew Wade was always pretty clear about where he stood with people, especially with his job, he had to be. 

That vague answer just made Kyler even more sure of his guess. 

To Kyler, this was just unbelievable. He honestly couldn’t wrap his head around it. 

He just couldn’t figure out what Wade saw in Aurelia. 

Or maybe Aurelia’s charm was just on another level. How else could she get someone as refined and distinguished as Wade to actually fall for her? 

Honestly, Wade’s love life was basically a blank slate. Maybe that was why he ended up falling for Aurelia’s tricks. 

As a friend, Kyler felt it was his duty to give Wade a heads–up. 

“Aurelia’s not as simple as she looks. You should really keep your distance,” Kyler warned. 

Wade didn’t appreciate Kyler talking about Aurelia that way. He frowned and said, “Are you sure you’re not just misunderstanding her?” 

Kyler denied it right away. “No, I’m not. Just keep your distance, alright? Don’t end up getting played without even realizing it.”

Meanwhile, Liam still hadn’t managed to get a word in with Aurelia. 

But he wasn’t in any rush. He just settled into a quiet corner, occasionally looked over at her, and to his own surprise, found it all rather pleasant. 

Jasper, on the other hand, was getting restless. He leaned over to Liam and whispered, “Why don’t we sneak out for a bit? Hitting up a club for some drinks sounds way better than sticking around here.” 

“Go ahead if you want, but I’m staying,” Liam shot back, not even hesitating. 

Jasper gave him a suspicious look. “Didn’t you just say you were bored? You said you’d just say hi to Mr. Locke and then leave.” 

‘I remember that perfectly, Jasper thought.

Jasper just stared at him, totally at a loss for words.

Jasper elbowed Liam. “Looks like Mr. Locke’s about to give his speech.” 

Everyone’s eyes snapped to the stage. 

Tessa was among them, her gaze locked in anticipation. 

She was more eager than anyone else in the room. 

She was already smoothing her hair and straightening her outfit, determined to leave Benjamin with the best impression possible.
