Chapter 227Â
‘Who could be here this late?‘ Aurelia wondered.Â
LS vouchersÂ
She hesitated, then walked to the door. When she saw who it was, her eyes lit up with joy. She couldn’t wait to open the door. “Babe, what are you doing here?”Â
Mia came in, damp from the rain. She didn’t even bother with her suitcase at the door. She just hugged Aurelia tightly. “I came here to recharge my batteries.”Â
She held on tight, burying her face in Aurelia’s neck, not letting go.Â
Aurelia could instantly tell something was wrong. She hugged Mia tighter, unconsciously rocking her from side to side. “Did you eat anything yet?”Â
“Nope, I’m starving,” Mia replied.Â
“Wanna go grab some BBQ skewers?” Aurelia suggested.Â
“Sounds good,” Mia said.Â
“And let’s have a couple drinks too,” Mia added.Â
“Sure thing,” Aurelia said, hooking Mia’s suitcase inside with her foot. “Let’s hit up our usual spot.”Â
“Sounds good,” Mia replied.Â
“Can I go change first?” Aurelia asked.Â
Mia still wouldn’t let go. “I’ve seen every inch of you, babe. Don’t act like a stranger,” she teased, her voice muffled against Aurelia’s neck.Â
Half an hour later, the two of them were sitting at a skewer shop less than 600 feet from Ashmont University, enjoying some BBQ skewers together.Â
The owner was still the same old guy, and the taste was just as familiar as ever.Â
But now, neither of them had that fresh–faced vibe they used to carry back in their college days.Â
Neither of them was a lightweight when it came to drinking, and beer just wasn’t cutting it tonight. Mia waved at the owner, “Bring us some shots.”Â
“Make it two,” Aurelia added.Â
Mia gave her a confused look, and Aurelia grinned, “Tomorrow’s the weekend. No need to drag myself out of bed for work.”Â
But Mia knew better. Aurelia was such a workaholic, she didn’t even know what a weekend was.Â
She just said that so she could keep Mia company.Â

They munched on snacks and sipped their drinks, swapping funny stories from their college days.Â
“I still remember how crazy busy you were,” Mia said. “If you had class, you went. If not, you were off helping Cassian. You never seemed to run out of energy. For the first two months, even though we shared a dorm, I swear we barely said ten words to each other.”Â
Mia teased, “Sophomore year, there was that one night you didn’t come back. I just knew you were off hooking up with Cassian. You know what? I felt like my bestie got snatched right out from under me.”Â
“The next day, you came back pale as a ghost, shaking all over in pain. I knew something was seriously wrong. so I rushed you to the hospital. When the doctor said you had a ruptured corpus luteum, I swear, I wanted to wring Cassian’s neck,” Mia said.Â
“Alright, that’s enough. Let’s not get into that,” Aurelia said, clearly not wanting to revisit that memory.Â
That was just how best friends were. Even if Aurelia didn’t want to deal with it, Mia would still roast her about it.Â
“What did I tell you back then? Once you got yourself a little ‘history,‘ you finally learned to behave,” Mia teased with a smirk.Â
It really was a strike against me.Â
Aurelia just had to own up to it.Â
“Even though you’ve put Cassian behind you, I still hurt for you,” Mia said, her voice softening.Â
Because Mia had seen all the crap Aurelia went through, she knew she’d never be able to forgive Cassian for what he put her through.Â
“Alright, enough about me. Spill it. Did something happen to you?” Aurelia asked, topping off Mia’s glass, finally letting her concern show.Â
Mia’s smile froze for a moment before she sighed. “I thought my acting was top–notch, but you still saw right through me.”Â
Honestly, she thought she nailed it.Â
Looked like she was nowhere near winning Best Actress yet.Â
“It’s nothing major, really. You know how chaotic our industry is,” Mia said, sounding a bit resigned.Â
Aurelia frowned. “Did you run into any of that sleazy industry crap?”Â
“Yeah,” Mia said, sounding totally fed up. “If he was at least good–looking, maybe I could’ve just let it slide. But he was so damn ugly. How does a guy like that even have the nerve to try something like that?Â
“And he strutted around like his money made him irresistible. I just threw my drink right in that fat bastard’s face. Even now, just thinking about it makes my skin crawl.”Â
She’d barely finished ranting when her phone started ringing.Â

Chapter 227Â
It was her agent. Mia didn’t even need to pick up to know what she was about to say.Â
Mia was about to turn off her phone, but Aurelia snatched it up and answered for her.Â
“સહાયÂ
The moment Aurelia picked up, the agent started yelling, “Mia, where are you? You need to get over here and apologize to Mr. Ernest Wilkinson right now! I busted my ass to get you this gig, and this is how you treat the investor?Â
“He picked you. Consider yourself lucky! And you had the nerve to throw your drink in his face and call him a fat pig? What kind of artist does that?Â
“I’m telling you. Get over here and apologize to Mr. Ernest Wilkinson, make it right with him, or the company will fire you!”Â
Aurelia cut in, fed up. “Then just fire her!”Â
“Who the hell are you?” the agent demanded, realizing instantly it wasn’t Mia on the line.Â
“Doesn’t matter who I am. But let me remind you. Forcing artists to drink and sleep with investors is illegal. We reserve the right to take legal action,” Aurelia said coldly.Â
The agent burst out laughing. “You got any proof we forced her to drink and sleep with investors? Listen, Mia signed a ten–year contract. If she doesn’t go along with the company’s arrangements, that’s a breach, and we’ll make her pay the penalty fee!”Â
Aurelia didn’t even flinch. “I’ll cover the penalty, but I’ll also take you to court for what you did. Isn’t this call enough evidence?”Â
The agent, thinking Aurelia was recording everything, hung up so fast, you’d think he’d seen a ghost.Â
Mia chewed on her skewer stick, sighing, “Damn, Aurelia, you really went all out. That penalty fee’s gonna be insane!”Â
“If money can fix it, it’s not even a real problem,” Aurelia said, snatching the skewer stick from Mia’s hand.Â
Mia’s eyes lit up. “Sugar mama! Take care of me!”Â
“Don’t let this kind of stuff mess with your mood. I’ll get my lawyer to negotiate your release, and I’ll even start a company just for you. You’ll be our one and only star,” Aurelia promised.Â
“Then I’m gonna latch onto you and never let go!” Mia laughed.Â
With Aurelia in her corner, all of Mia’s worries disappeared. The two partied till they couldn’t drink anymore, then finally called it a night and headed home.Â
The next morning, before heading out, Aurelia told Mia she was going to the office. But as soon as she got there, she had her legal team reach out to Mia’s agency.Â
The agency was one of the old guard in the business, totally unfazed by this kind of thing. They barely spared Aurelia a glance, acting like she was beneath them.Â

Aurelia didn’t bother beating around the bush. “Just tell me. How much is the penalty fee?”Â
The agent dodged her question. “Sorry, Ms. Corin, but Mia is an artist we’ve invested a lot of time, money, and resources into. We’re not going to let her go that easily.”Â
“3 million dollars.”Â
Mia had already told her it would be about that much.Â
“It’s not about the money.”Â
“6 million dollars,” Aurelia said without missing a beat.Â
Aurelia wasn’t about to let Mia waste another second worrying about that crappy company. She’d settle it with cash, no hesitation.Â
They went quiet for a long moment. “It’s really not just about the money.”Â
“10 million. Take the money and walk away while you still can,” Aurelia said, her tone turning icy.Â
Twenty minutes later, Aurelia called Mia. “Hey babe, any genius ideas for our new company name yet?”Â
“How about… ‘Scrambled Eggs with Chives‘?” Mia blurted out.Â
Aurelia raised an eyebrow. “Seriously? You wanna call our company that?”Â
“Wait, what? I was just asking if you wanted chive and egg for dinner. I’m at the grocery store,” Mia replied, sounding totally lost.Â
Aurelia chuckled. “Whatever you cook, I’ll eat it!”Â
Mia picked up a bunch of chives, paid, and made her way out.Â
She’d barely taken a couple steps when she ran into two people and froze in her tracks.Â
She quickly snapped a photo, then called Aurelia, practically bouncing with excitement.Â
Aurelia thought Mia had finally come up with a name for the new company and was just about to ask.Â
But before she could, Mia’s voice came through, practically bursting with excitement. “Babe! Guess what I just snapped a pic of?”Â
