“Aurelia, once InquireMind goes public, let’s go out for a nice dinner,” Gideon said. 

That sounds like the perfect timing. 

Aurelia thought for a moment and nodded. “Sure.” 

Gideon’s mood instantly lightened, a smile spreading across his face. “It’s settled then! Don’t stand me up!” 

After watching Gideon leave, Aurelia went home for a shower. 

Two days of hustling around had finally paid off. She could finally breathe easy.

Miranda shot Aurelia a text, reminding her to close all the windows and doors, a thunderstorm was on its way tonight. 

Only then did Aurelia close her laptop and get up to shut the windows. 

The wind was already picking up outside. 

Aurelia’s apartment was on the seventh floor of a small building. 

From her window, she could see the treetops below, tossing wildly in the wind. 

She could just make out a black car parked beneath one of the trees. 

Anyone who dared to leave their car under a tree in this kind of weather must have nerves of steel. 

Aurelia didn’t pay it much mind. She pulled the curtains shut and went straight to bed.

The same day Everwell Group and HelixTech signed their deal, Aurelia also sealed a partnership with Prime Triumph, one of the top accounting firms in the industry. 

In this circle, news travels fast. 

It didn’t take long for Tessa to hear about it. 

She was getting beauty treatments with Alina at the time. 

The moment Tessa saw the message, she shot up from the beauty bed, staring at the group chat in utter disbelief. 

“No way!” Tessa blurted out. 

No wonder Tessa was so floored. 

After all, Prime Triumph, the kind of firm everyone in the business dreams about, had just teamed up with Aurelia. 

Even Everwell Group couldn’t hold a candle to them. 

Tessa wouldn’t even dare to hope for a partnership like that, but Aurelia actually made it happen. 

Tessa immediately told Alina, who was just as stunned. 

“How did Aurelia even get in touch with Prime Triumph?” Alina asked, genuinely puzzled.

inside her. 

“Don’t worry, I’ve got a way to make all Aurelia’s hard work go to waste,” Alina said, her tone full of confidence. 

Aurelia brought Stephen his second dose of herbal medicine, along with a brand–new physical therapy device. 

As she parked, she didn’t notice Kyler sitting in the car across from her. 

She carried her bags into the Horton residence. 

Kyler watched the whole thing from his car, his gaze cold and detached. 

Kyler had already heard about Aurelia’s partnership with Prime Triumph, so he’d come to Stephen’s place to get the inside scoop. 

But Stephen kept his lips sealed, leaving Kyler empty–handed. 

He hadn’t expected to witness this right before heading out. 

‘So Aurelia really got what she wanted by sucking up to Stephen and getting him to pull strings with Prime Triumph?‘ Kyler thought, his lips curling in disdain. 

‘She’s still the kind who always takes the easy way out!‘ Kyler sneered inwardly. 

Kyler sneered. 

Aurelia had no idea Kyler had stopped by. When she walked in and spotted the Go board, she remarked, “Looks like your last opponent had a lot on their mind.” 

“Just some rookie who couldn’t keep his cool,” Stephen replied. “Care for a game?” 

“Why not?” Aurelia said. She actually had a rare bit of free time today, so she joined Stephen for a match. 

After a few moves, Stephen’s mood visibly improved. “Seems you haven’t gotten rusty at all.” 

“That’s because InquireMind recently teamed up with a company developing an AI Go bot. They made me their guinea pig, so I ended up playing against the AI whenever I had a spare moment. It really sharpened my skills,” Aurelia explained. 

“Sounds fun. Send it over to me, let me try it out,” Stephen said, clearly interested. 

Aurelia agreed, but gave him a heads–up. “Go for it, but just know that after all that data–driven training, its reasoning and foresight totally outclass any human. Winning against it? Pretty much impossible.” 

Soon, their chat shifted from Go to talking about AI and its future, 

Stephen listened to Aurelia’s take and nodded, impressed. “Guess that’s why you picked InquireMind out of the crowd so fast. You’ve got real vision in business.” 

“It’s all just experience stacking up,” Aurelia replied, “kind of like how you train an Al.” 

After all, back at Honoria Capital, she got to work on tons of projects. 

So, her time at Honoria Capital wasn’t for nothing after all.

Just as Aurelia stepped out of Stephen’s place, her phone buzzed. It was Cassian calling. 

She had no intention of picking up.

But Cassian seemed to know she wouldn’t answer. Before the call could go to voicemail, he hung up and shot her a text. 

Cassian messaged: [Weren’t you the one chasing after Ascend Group’s resources and connections?] 

Aurelia immediately called him back. 

Cassian picked up right away, his voice carrying an oddly pleased undertone. “So, you’re finally willing to talk to me?” 

“Where are you?” Aurelia cut straight to the point. 

“East Pastures Estate,” Cassian replied. 

As soon as she got the address, Aurelia hung up without another word. 

Half an hour later, Aurelia arrived at East Pastures Estate. 

Cassian was hosting the dinner, and everyone there was a partner of Ascend Group. 

When Aurelia walked in, the room was buzzing with lively conversation. 

Cassian had his back to the door, so he didn’t notice her right away. 

But the man across from him spotted Aurelia first, his eyes lighting up as he grinned and called out, “Mr. Locke, your girlfriend’s here.” 

The people nearby gave Aurelia an appraising look. “I’ve heard Mr. Locke’s girlfriend is gorgeous and classy. Seeing her now, I guess the rumors weren’t exaggerating!” 

Aurelia had never met any of Ascend Group’s partners before, so nobody in the room recognized her. 

It made sense they’d mistake her for someone else. 

Aurelia was just about to clear things up. 

But Cassian jumped in first. “Let me introduce you all. This is Ms. Corin from Regal Investment, and she’s also the current CEO of MegaTech.” 

He clearly didn’t want anyone getting the wrong idea. 

Once Cassian cleared things up, everyone realized their mistake and quickly apologized to Aurelia. 

Aurelia didn’t mind at all. She shook hands with everyone in the room, graceful and confident as ever. 

Cassian always kept his word. He’d delivered on everything he promised. 

No dinner party was complete without drinks. 

Just as Aurelia reached for the decanter, Cassian spoke up. “Everyone, I have to pick up my fiancée later, so it’s not convenient for me to drink tonight. Let’s just have water instead. Next time, I’ll make sure to raise a glass with you all.” 

Toby Baker, who’d first mistaken Aurelia for Cassian’s girlfriend, immediately joked, “You know what they say. Love always wins! Of course, your fiancée comes first!” 

Cassian gave a faint smile. “Mr. Baker, you’re just teasing me.”

Aurelia wasn’t interested in all that gossip, so she stepped outside for a breather and gave Ella a call, checking in to make sure she was taking her meds and eating her meals on time. 

After a few minutes of catching up, Aurelia figured it was about time and started making her way back to the private room. 

Just then, two figures emerged from behind the screen. 

Hidden in a secluded spot, Aurelia went completely unnoticed by the pair. 

One of them said, “I just saw Cassian. Let’s put the deal on hold for now. We’ll talk later.” 

The other looked really nervous. “Do you think he’s onto us?” 

“Probably not. He’s probably just here to socialize,” the first guy said. 

Then he tried to reassure his friend. “Why are you so jumpy? Even if we get caught, it’s not a problem. My cousin is Mr. Locke’s fiancée. He’s head over heels for her. Even if everything comes out, he won’t do anything.” 

‘So this guy’s Tessa’s cousin?‘ Aurelia thought. 

She peeked out, trying to get a look at his face. 

Suddenly, someone grabbed her hand. 

Aurelia’s heart nearly leapt out of her chest, but before she could make a sound, the stranger clamped a hand over her mouth, stifling any cry. 

Instantly, the air filled with a cool, woody scent. It was strangely familiar, yet distant.
