“Yeah, just came over to check out the new materials,” Cassian said, his voice rough and clearly tired.Â
Toby laughed. “Mr. Locke, you really care about Ms. Rowe, huh? The drive’s too long, so you didn’t want her to get worn out. You came to the factory to look at the new materials for her. You two are such a loving couple.”Â
Aurelia gave a faint smile, clearly not interested in their lovey–dovey show.Â
“Ms. Corin, that drive must’ve worn you out. How about you relax in my office for a bit?” Toby suggested.Â
Aurelia shook her head. “Thanks, but we’re on a tight schedule. Let’s check out the factory first.”Â
“Alright, right this way,” Toby said, personally leading them.Â
He turned and invited Cassian and his secretary, Chole, to join as well. “Mr. Locke, you too.”Â
Toby’s company made silicon wafers, the heart and the priciest part of any chip.Â
Aurelia had crammed some info about it beforehand, but it was all just book sinarts.Â
But with Murel under the weather and stuck in the hospital these past couple days, Aurelia had to step in and handle the inspection.Â
Murel said it was just a first look, so as long as the factory was up to standard, that’d do for now.Â
He’d bring his tech team over later to dive into the nitty–gritty.Â
Toby’s factory was even cleaner and more organized than Aurelia had imagined, and she was quick to compliment him.Â
Toby let out a wry laugh. “Honestly, I owe it all to Mr. Locke. Back when we were trying to work with Ascend Group, I had to keep making adjustments. You wouldn’t believe how demanding he is. I was so stressed, I ended up with anxiety. Luckily, we finally made it through his review…”Â
Aurelia couldn’t help but agree.Â
Cassian was strict with everyone, including himself, except for Tessa.Â
‘Maybe it’s because he knows just how rough this path can get, so he’d never let Tessa go through the same pain he did,’ Aurelia thought.Â
The product manager brought over the new materials for Cassian to review.Â
Cassian gave them a professional once–over, not missing a single detailÂ
Aurelia watched closely from the side.Â
Toby was so nervous he kept swallowing hard.Â
After his expert inspection, Cassian just said, “Not bad.”Â
Toby finally let out a sigh of relief.”Â
Aurelia looked up at Cassian, eyeing the inspection report in his hand.Â
Cassian glanced at her, then handed the report over.Â
“Thanks,” Aurelia said, quickly taking it.Â

Cassian took the time to explain the report to her, pointing out which numbers really mattered and which ones could use some improvement.Â
Aurelia listened quietly the whole time, soaking it all up.Â
The atmosphere between them was actually pretty chill for once.Â
Even Toby couldn’t bring himself to butt in on their conversation.Â
Cassian had a lot to say.Â
He paused midway and asked her, “Think you can remember all that?”Â
Aurelia nodded. “Yeah, I can.”Â
Cassian went on.Â
Chole and Miranda shot each other a look, totally confused by what they were seeing.Â
Ever since Aurelia left Honoria Capital, even if she and Cassian weren’t at each other’s throats, things were still pretty tense between them.Â
Watching them actually get along for once was something they didn’t see every day.Â
Chole even caught a hint of a smile in Cassian’s eyes.Â
But when she tried to get a better look, Cassian gave her a frosty look, and she quickly looked down, not daring to meet his eyes again.Â
No one was more shocked than Toby.Â
He couldn’t help but feel that something was off about the way Cassian treated Aurelia.Â
Aurelia only knew the basics about silicon wafers before, but after Cassian’s explanation, she got a much deeper understanding.Â
They ended up chatting for quite a while.Â
When they finally finished, Toby remarked with a laugh, “Mr. Locke’s even more of an expert than me. Ms. Corin, I don’t need to explain anything to you now.”Â
Aurelia turned to Cassian and thanked him directly.Â
Cassian just gave a slight nod.Â
After that, they didn’t cross paths again.Â
Not even a look was exchanged between them.Â
Aurelia turned to Toby to ask about other details besides the materials.Â
Just then, Cassian’s phone rang with the default ringtone.Â
Aurelia paused mid–sentence.Â
Then she just kept talking to Toby.Â
Cassian picked up the call.Â

Tessa’s voice came through the phone. “Cassian, are you done yet?”Â
“Not yet. I might be late, so don’t wait up for dinner,” Cassian replied.Â
Hearing that, Toby smirked and gave a knowing look.Â
He didn’t say a word, but everyone got the message.Â
He was totally teasing them about how close they were.Â
Chole let out a sigh of relief, realizing she’d just been overthinking things.Â
‘Mr. Locke only cares about Ms. Rowe,‘ she thought.Â
By the time the tour wrapped up, it was already evening.Â
Toby had booked a restaurant and invited everyone out for dinner.Â
Chole thought for sure Cassian would politely decline and rush back to Ashmont to spend time with Tessa.Â
But to her surprise, he agreed right away.Â

Toby was pretty down–to–earth. He knew Aurelia and the others had a long drive back, so he didn’t bother ordering any alcohol.Â
After dinner, Aurelia said goodbye to Toby and headed off in the car.Â
Cassian left a little later than they did.Â
Miranda muttered under her breath, “Mr. Locke actually seemed a bit more human today.”Â
She used to call him Locke the jerk, but now he was officially Mr. Locke.Â
“Stop minding other people’s business,” Aurelia said, giving her a light tap on the head.Â
“Got it,” Miranda replied.Â
Aurelia spent the whole drive jotting down everything Cassian had just told her.Â
At a rest stop along the way, Miranda switched seats with the driver so he wouldn’t get too tired behind the wheel.Â
When they were almost back in the city, Walter said, “Miranda, I’ll drop you off at your place first. I’ll take Ms. Corin home after. No need for her to waste time calling a cab.”Â
Since it was on the way, Miranda just headed straight home.Â
They were almost at their place when the car suddenly lurched forward, totally out of control.Â
Walter reacted fast, grabbing the steering wheel and somehow managed to steady the car.Â
Then another huge crash came from behind them, and the car finally came to a stop, shaking all over.Â
Aurelia snapped out of her shock and whipped her head around to look behind them.Â
Back there, a black car and a white car had crashed into each other.Â
Walter unbuckled his seatbelt. “Let’s get out of the car.”Â
Once they were out, they realized their car had been rear–ended.Â

The car that hit them was a white sedan.Â
And the other one was Cassian’s car.Â
As soon as Aurelia realized it, she saw Cassian get out of the driver’s seat.Â
Normally so composed, Cassian was now swaying, wiping blood from his forehead.Â
“Call an ambulance!” Aurelia called out to Miranda, who was frozen in shock.Â
Then she hurried over to Cassian.Â
Walter followed, helping pull Chole, who was trapped in the front seat, out of the car.Â
Both of them were hurt.Â
Cassian seemed to have it worse.Â
Blood was trickling steadily from the cut on his forehead.Â
Without hesitation, Aurelia rushed back to the car, grabbed the silk scarf from her bag, folded it up, and pressed it firmly against Cassian’s wound.Â
Cassian winced in pain.Â

Chole was still out of it for a good while after Walter got her out. When she finally came to, she stammered, “Mr. Locke, are you… are you alright?”Â
Just now, Cassian suddenly floored the gas, ramming straight into the white sedan that had rear–ended Aurelia’s car, almost like he’d lost control, but it was clear he did it on purpose.Â
To be precise, he forced the other car to a stop.Â
Aurelia clearly caught on to what Cassian had done, which was why she rushed over to check on him.Â
After all, it was Cassian who saved them.Â
