InquireMind’s roadshow was an unprecedented success. 

Tyson’s startup story really struck a chord with a lot of investors in the room. 

After all, the capital market loves a good story, but it trusts the storyteller even more. 

Aurelia finally breathed a sigh of relief. 

Before the roadshow was even over, Aurelia’s phone was blowing up with calls from all the major investors. 

Some of them had previously invested in HelixTech. 

By the time Aurelia got through all the calls, the roadshow had already wrapped up. 

Miranda was methodically directing the team to clean up the venue. 

Just as Aurelia was about to go over to Tyson, she spotted Kyler heading straight toward him. 

She furrowed her brows, unable to quite figure out what Kyler was up to. 

Right then, Gideon walked over to her, and Aurelia shifted her gaze away. 

Meanwhile, Tyson greeted Kyler politely. 

“Kyler, do you need something?” Tyson asked. 

Kyler hesitated, unsure how to bring it up. 

But the questions in his mind were too much to ignore, and he couldn’t hold back anymore and asked.

“You said on stage that Aurelia was the one who discovered InquireMind. Are you just spinning a story?” Kyler asked, his tone skeptical. 

He knew that when companies go public, they often spin some touching or interesting stories during their IPO presentations to impress investors and shareholders. 

Tyson thought it was a strange question. “Why would you think I’m just making it up?” he replied. 

“Isn’t that how it went? Honoria Capital started this project, and Ms. Rowe was their investment director. So, by all rights, it should’ve been hers. Aurelia… didn’t she basically take it off Ms. Rowe’s hands?” Kyler pressed, sounding skeptical. 

Tyson’s polite front slipped, his face clouding over. 

“I don’t know where you heard that, but let me set things straight. Aurelia was the one who found InquireMind, and she backed it all the way until it started to take shape. 

“After she left Honoria Capital, Ms. Rowe took over and immediately shot down my project,” Tyson said, his voice steady. 

“It was Aurelia who picked InquireMind back up and made it what it is today. So I really don’t get why you think Aurelia stole Ms. Rowe’s project. Ms. Rowe was the one who turned it down in the first place,” Tyson added. 

“If you don’t believe me, go ahead and ask around. You’ll see just how many doors Aurelia had to knock on to get funding for InquireMind back then,” Tyson added. 

Kyler was completely floored by Tyson’s answer. It was like everything he thought he knew had just been turned upside down.

He just couldn’t wrap his head around it. 

Tyson’s usual politeness vanished, his gaze turning icy in an instant. 

He wouldn’t tolerate anyone slandering Aurelia, not for a second. 

He spun on his heel and walked away without another word. 

The rough ending to HelixTech’s roadshow left Tessa with a heavy cloud hanging over her mood. 

But that wasn’t even the worst part. 

The moment she stepped out of Ashmont University, her phone was flooded with calls and messages from every kind of investor. 

Some investors were upfront, others danced around the topic, but it all boiled down to the same thing. 

They all meant one thing. 

They were pulling their money out. 

Tessa had barely hung up from her tenth call before she finally lost it and slammed her phone down in frustration. 

“These people are unbelievable! Pulling out now will completely cut off HelixTech’s cash flow! Our IPO plans are going to crash and burn!” Tessa shouted, her voice trembling with anger. 

“Mom, seriously, why did you have to drag Auntie along to the roadshow? If you hadn’t, we wouldn’t be in this mess right now!” Alina snapped, her frustration boiling over. 

Alina was just as anxious. “How was I supposed to know the cops would come after her?” she shot back. 

“What are we supposed to do now? If this mess ruins HelixTech’s IPO, how am I supposed to have any standing in Ashmont?” Tessa snapped, her voice shaking with anxiety. 

Tessa was a bundle of nerves, her frustration and anger mixing together, ready to blow at any moment. 

Alina was busy thinking of a solution. 

Just then, Cassian called, and Alina picked up right away. “Cassian, any news?” 

“I’ve checked things out. It’s not looking good. The footage is already out there, and it’s blowing up everywhere. There’s no way we can pull any strings to get her out quietly. The authorities are already keeping a close eye on this,” Cassian said, his tone grim. 

Alina collapsed onto the couch. “Any word from the police?” 

“I haven’t been able to meet with anyone yet, so I don’t know the specifics,” Cassian replied. 

“Got it,” Alina replied. 

After mulling it over, Alina decided she had no choice but to go down to the police station herself. 

‘First things first, I need to make sure Vanessa doesn’t freak out,’ Alina thought, her mind racing. 

At the very least, she had to make sure Vanessa kept her mouth shut and didn’t blurt out anything stupid while she was in 

there. 

Vanessa was totally losing it, completely panicking and had no idea what to do.

After all, this was the first time she’d ever been locked up in her life 

Alina reached out to Daniel, who pulled some strings, and soon enough, she was able to see Vanessa 

When Vanessa saw Alina, it was like she’d just spotted a lifeline. She immediately begged her to get her out of there. 

“It’s complicated. You might have to stay in here for a bit, but once things blow over. I’m going to do whatever it takes to get you out,” Alina said, trying to reassure her. 

Vanessa’s face went pale. “Am I going to end up in jail?” she asked. 

“No, trust me. I’ll get you out,” Alina said, meeting her eyes. “But you can’t admit to anything, okay? If you confess, there’s nothing I can do for you.” 

Vanessa was so lost and panicked that she clung to every word Alina said, believing her completely. 

Vanessa was sure Alina would work her magic and get her out, no matter what. 

Vanessa nodded quickly. “Got it,” she said. 

As soon as Alina left the police station, she called up the person who’d set up the car accident, her voice sharp with anger. “What the hell were you thinking? How did the cops find out? Now my people are getting dragged into this mess!” 

“We’re just as confused! Who could’ve guessed that kid would suddenly rat us out? Vanessa was the contact, so the cops traced everything back to her,” the person on the other end snapped, clearly pissed off. 

The person on the other end was so furious they were practically grinding their teeth. 

“So what do we do now?” Alina demanded, her voice tight with anxiety. 

“If you’ve got the connections, get her out. If not… you’ll have to go plead with someone and hope you can sweep this mess under the rug,” the person said, sounding frustrated. 

And by “pleading,” they meant reaching out to the victim and trying to smooth things over. 

If they could get the victim to forgive them and get the whole thing written off as an accident, maybe they could dodge any 

real trouble. 

If it were anyone else, this would be a whole lot easier, but if she were asked to plead with Aurelia, she couldn’t accept it. 

Alina gritted her teeth, knowing just how tough this was going to be. 

The news was spreading like wildfire, and even people in Northvale were starting to hear the rumors. 

After doing some digging, Elias filled Kyler in on what he’d found. 

“This is a tough one. The higher–ups are already watching, so we have to play by the rules,” Elias said, his tone serious. 

What he really meant was, there was no way they could pull any strings to get anyone out of this mess. 

Kyler was already stressed out, and when he heard the news, he didn’t say anything. 

Elias asked, “Are you sure this is the person who did our family a favor?” 

Kyler stayed quiet for a while, then finally said, “I’m not sure.” 

After all, it was all just him guessing.

Kyler was still trying to get his head straight when Tessa called. 

He hesitated for a few seconds before finally picking up. 

Tessa said there was a party tonight to celebrate and asked if he’d come. 

The celebration had been scheduled way in advance, originally meant to mark HelixTech’s big win at the roadshow. 

But out of nowhere, things went south and a crisis hit. 

Still, the more chaotic things got, the more Tessa needed to keep her composure. 

The party had to go on. Canceling now would make it look like HelixTech was actually in trouble. 

Just a way to keep up appearances and steady the team. 

For the first time, Kyler politely declined Tessa’s invitation.
