Then he called out to Kyler, still fired up, “Stop standing there like a statue! Hurry up and thank Ms. Corin! Without her, the Ackerleys wouldn’t even exist today!” 

Kyler struggled to walk over, feeling a lump in his throat. He kept trying to say something, but the words we just stuck there. 

“Kid, you really gave me a big surprise!” Elias was too caught up in his excitement to notice how awkward Kyler was. 

Aurelia never once looked Kyler’s way. She just chatted politely with Elias for a moment, then took her leave. 

It was only after the fact that Elias realized Kyler hadn’t even spoken to Aurelia. 

“What’s wrong with you just now? You didn’t say a single word! We finally found the Ackerleys‘ savior, and you just stood there like a fool!” Elias scolded Kyler. 

Kyler had absolutely no idea how to explain himself. 

If Elias ever found out how he’d treated Aurelia before, he’d probably get erased from the Ackerley family records by tomorrow. 

“We really need to show our gratitude to Aurelia,” Elias said, still turning it over in his mind. After all, he’d been hoping for this chance for eight years. 

Kyler was silent for a long moment before finally saying, “Yeah, we really do owe Aurelia a proper thank you.”

However, Gideon still played dumb. “Know what?” 

“That Aurelia’s really impressive,” Jasper said. 

Gideon admitted it straight up, “She’s always been top–notch. It’s not like she just got good overnight.” 

That just made Jasper feel like an even bigger fool. 

“Then why did she never stand out at Honoria Capital? Was she deliberately keeping a low profile?” Jasper just couldn’t figure it out. 

Gideon’s grip on the steering wheel tightened. “She wasn’t holding back. She was just so wrapped up in Cassian that she stopped caring about her own achievements.” 

Jasper was about to argue with that.

It wasn’t exactly a love confession, but it spoke louder than words. 

Back then, saying “I love you” would’ve been too much, so Gideon played it cool. 

He knew Aurelia would get it. What he never expected was that Aurelia had never even opened that email.
