Chapter 295Â
Tessa had no clue what Cassian was thinking lately,Â

But with HelixTech still not gone public, she figured Cassian wouldn’t just break off the engagement on a whim.Â
After all, the two of them were tied together at the hip now.Â
All she could do now was hope the whole fake degree scandal would blow over soon.Â
People were forgetful, and time had a way of smoothing things over.Â
Once HelixTech went public and she finally broke into the world of big money, she’d be set.Â
Everyone else would just be lining up to flatter her, only remembering her when she was shining at the top.Â

So, just a little more patience and things would sort themselves out. As long as she could keep her composure.Â
The next day, Tessa went around to a few loan companies, but her credit alone wasn’t enough to get such a big loan.Â
She tried two or three places, but they all told her the same thing.Â
With the repayment deadline looming, Tessa started hitting up her friends again for help.Â
The first person she reached out to was Jasper. After all, he was the first to show up at the hospital after everything went down.Â
He picked up, but sounded a bit distant compared to usual. “Hey, you’re out of the hospital?”Â
“Yeah, thanks for checking in. What’ve you been up to lately?” Tessa replied.Â
“Not much. Uh, I wanted to ask… is it possible for me to withdraw my shares from HelixTech?” Jasper said, sounding hesitant.Â
Tessa was stunned into silence, her mouth opening but no words coming out.Â
She hadn’t even gotten a word in before Jasper dropped the bomb about wanting out.Â
“Look, my dad’s always been against me investing in HelixTech. He’s been so upset about it that it’s actually affected his health. I’m really worried about him, so I want to pull out my shares, just to give him some peace of mind,” he explained.Â
“Well… that might not be the best idea. HelixTech is about to go public, and if you leave now, you could be missing out on a lot,” Tessa said gently, trying to talk him out of it.Â
“Trust me, once HelixTech goes public, there’s a lot of profit to be made. Just tell your dad to hang in there a bit longer,” she added.Â

Before she could get an answer, Steven’s angry voice suddenly cut in.Â

It sounded like he’d grabbed the phone from Jasper and barked at Tessa, “You walking disaster! Hand the money back, now! Stop messing with the Quinns!”Â
“Dad…” Jasper tried to calm his father down.Â
As Jasper and Steven were arguing heatedly on the other end, Tessa hung up, her face dark with frustration.Â
Tessa didn’t get the loan, and instead got yelled at. It left her feeling pretty crappy.Â
When she got home, Karlie rushed over, her eyes full of urgency. Tessa didn’t say a word, just shook her head. That was all the answer Karlie needed.Â
Karlie started to panic. “Maybe we should just ask Cassian for help.”Â
“Let’s handle this ourselves. It’s not exactly something I want to broadcast,” Tessa said.Â
“If Cassian finds out, you know he’d definitely get involved,” Karlie said.Â
Alina nodded in agreement. “I’ve sold off a ton of stuff these past few days and pulled together over ten million. We’ll find a way to cover the rest.”Â
Just when Tessa was at her wit’s end, her phone rang.Â
The caller claimed to be the owner of Celestium Financial and offered her a loan.Â
Tessa got straight to the point and asked about the terms. The interest was 30%, way above anything she’d see on the market.Â
‘That’s outrageous!‘ Just thinking about it made her feel suffocated.Â
The boss at Celestium Financial said, “High interest comes with high risk. Ms. Rowe, this is a large amount, so you should really think it through. Not many lenders out there would even consider this.”Â
He wasn’t wrong.Â
After crunching the numbers, Tessa figured that if HelixTech went public by year’s end, she’d be able to handle the repayment.Â
After a sleepless night weighing her options, Tessa made up her mind. She’d take the loan from Celestium Financial.Â

When Preston was finally released, he was covered in bruises and cuts, absolutely terrified.Â
“How could they just beat him up like that?” Vanessa was beside herself with worry, grabbing the first aid kit to patch him up.Â

With everyone’s attention on Preston, nobody seemed to notice how down in the dumps Tessa was tonight.Â
It had been a week.Â
A whole week and Cassian hadn’t sent her a single message or called her once.Â
“I’m feeling a bit tired. I’m going to turn in early,” Tessa said, heading to her room. She showered and was about to lie down when her phone rang.Â
It was Cassian.Â
The next morning, Tessa was up bright and early, looking absolutely radiant as she came downstairs. She greeted everyone with a cheerful “Good morning!”Â
Karlie hadn’t seen her this happy in ages. She couldn’t help but ask, “Did Cassian get back from his trip?”Â
“Yeah, how did you know?” Tessa replied, her eyes sparkling.Â
“It’s written all over your face,” Karlie teased.Â
Tessa was practically glowing. “I’ll skip breakfast today, Cassian is picking me up and we’ll grab something together.”Â
Alina nodded with a smile. “Enjoy.”Â
As soon as Tessa walked out, Vanessa nudged Alina. “Looks like their relationship is solid. Cassian’s totally into her.”Â
“Yeah,” Alina said, finally able to relax.Â
“When we couldn’t get the money the other day, I was so desperate I almost begged you to ask him for help,” Vanessa blurted out.Â
She realized right away she’d messed up and peeked at Alina, worried she’d crossed a line.Â
Sure enough, Alina’s expression instantly soured.Â
Vanessa panicked and apologized, “Sorry, that was out of line.”Â
Good thing Karlie was busy in the kitchen and missed the whole conversation.Â
After picking Tessa up, Cassian took her to their usual breakfast spot.Â
As soon as she sat down, he handed her a gift. From the size of the box, it had to be jewelry.Â
Tessa’s heart skipped a beat. ‘Wait, is this the ruby set?‘Â
She resisted the urge to tear the box open right away, trying to play it cool and not look too eager.Â
Halfway through their meal, they ran into someone they knew; Graham Vance from Novalen Capital.Â

Graham came over and asked Cassian, “Mr. Locke, we go way back. Could you pull some strings and get me an invite to Professor Horton’s party?”Â
Tessa was still caught up thinking about the gift Cassian had just handed her, so she didn’t really pay attention and blurted out, “What kind of party is it that even you couldn’t get an invite?”Â
“You seriously don’t know? It’s Professor Horton’s party, his student induction party! Word is, he’s taking on a new protégé!” Graham said with excitement.Â
Tessa’s expression soured instantly, and she shifted in her seat, feeling seriously uncomfortable.Â
Everyone in the finance world was buzzing about Stephen taking on a new protégé, it was the talk of the town.Â
Getting an invite was next to impossible for regular folks; the bar was set sky–high.Â
That was exactly why Graham was hoping Cassian could work his magic and get him in.Â
The whole finance world knew Stephen was picking a new protégé, but nobody had a clue who the lucky person was.Â
If Graham had known it was Aurelia, there’s no way he’d have asked Cassian for a favor right in front of Tessa.Â
“Sorry, I didn’t get an invite either.” Cassian kept it polite.Â
Graham was floored. “Wait, even you didn’t get one? Seriously?”Â
Cassian just left it at that, not bothering to explain himself. With nothing else to do, Graham just shrugged and headed off, saying goodbye to the two of them.Â
After all that drama, Tessa completely lost her appetite. Breakfast tasted like nothing at all.Â
‘After Professor Horton’s party, Aurelia will really skyrocket. Well, she’s already at the top now, Tessa thought.Â
