The first person she reached out to was Jasper. After all, he was the first to show up at the hospital after everything went down.

He picked up, but sounded a bit distant compared to usual. “Hey, you’re out of the hospital?”

“Yeah, thanks for checking in. What’ve you been up to lately?” Tessa replied.

“Not much. Uh, I wanted to ask… is it possible for me to withdraw my shares from HelixTech?” Jasper said, sounding hesitant.

Tessa was stunned into silence, her mouth opening but no words coming out.

She hadn’t even gotten a word in before Jasper dropped the bomb about wanting out.

“Look, my dad’s always been against me investing in HelixTech. He’s been so upset about it that it’s actually affected his health. I’m really worried about him, so I want to pull out my shares, just to give him some peace of mind,” he explained.

“Well… that might not be the best idea. HelixTech is about to go public, and if you leave now, you could be missing out on a lot,” Tessa said gently, trying to talk him out of it.

“Trust me, once HelixTech goes public, there’s a lot of profit to be made. Just tell your dad to hang in there a bit longer,” she added.

As Jasper and Steven were arguing heatedly on the other end, Tessa hung up, her face dark with frustration.

Tessa didn’t get the loan, and instead got yelled at. It left her feeling pretty crappy.

When she got home, Karlie rushed over, her eyes full of urgency. Tessa didn’t say a word, just shook her head. That was all the answer Karlie needed.

Karlie started to panic. “Maybe we should just ask Cassian for help.”

“Let’s handle this ourselves. It’s not exactly something I want to broadcast,” Tessa said.

“If Cassian finds out, you know he’d definitely get involved,” Karlie said.

Alina nodded in agreement. “I’ve sold off a ton of stuff these past few days and pulled together over ten million. We’ll find a way to cover the rest.”

Just when Tessa was at her wit’s end, her phone rang.

The caller claimed to be the owner of Celestium Financial and offered her a loan.

Tessa got straight to the point and asked about the terms. The interest was 30%, way above anything she’d see on the market.

‘That’s outrageous!‘ Just thinking about it made her feel suffocated.

The boss at Celestium Financial said, “High interest comes with high risk. Ms. Rowe, this is a large amount, so you should really think it through. Not many lenders out there would even consider this.”

“I’m feeling a bit tired. I’m going to turn in early,” Tessa said, heading to her room. She showered and was about to lie down when her phone rang.

It was Cassian.

The next morning, Tessa was up bright and early, looking absolutely radiant as she came downstairs. She greeted everyone with a cheerful “Good morning!”

Karlie hadn’t seen her this happy in ages. She couldn’t help but ask, “Did Cassian get back from his trip?”

“Yeah, how did you know?” Tessa replied, her eyes sparkling.

“It’s written all over your face,” Karlie teased.

As soon as Tessa walked out, Vanessa nudged Alina. “Looks like their relationship is solid. Cassian’s totally into her.”

“Yeah,” Alina said, finally able to relax.

“When we couldn’t get the money the other day, I was so desperate I almost begged you to ask him for help,” Vanessa blurted out.

She realized right away she’d messed up and peeked at Alina, worried she’d crossed a line.

Vanessa panicked and apologized, “Sorry, that was out of line.”

Good thing Karlie was busy in the kitchen and missed the whole conversation.

After picking Tessa up, Cassian took her to their usual breakfast spot.

Cassian just left it at that, not bothering to explain himself. With nothing else to do, Graham just shrugged and headed off, saying goodbye to the two of them.
