“High risk, high reward. That’s how Cassian played the game and made Honoria Capital huge. If he pulled it off, I sure as hell can too!” Tessa added. 

She believed that was how the business world had always rolled. The gutsy get fat, the timid starve; it’s an age- old rule. 

So Alina was sold.

Friday was Ashmont’s annual finance summit, a major event in the financial world. 

Aurelia had gotten her invitation way ahead of time, so she made sure Miranda kept her schedule clear for the big day. 

This time around, Wade Lautner was running the show. 

It was the first time the two had crossed paths in a whole month. 

Honestly, Wade was always looking for a reason to see Aurelia, but they were both swamped. 

For the past month, Wade had been traveling all over the country, learning everything he could to help Ashmont’s economy grow. 

And in between, he was caught up in summit prep. He barely had a moment to breathe. 

Aurelia was just as swamped. 

She was handling several key projects, checking out new ventures, and was on the road for about a third of the month. 

They hardly ever crossed paths, and since they ran in totally different circles, the odds of bumping into each other were even lower. 

But Wade still kept tabs on Aurelia. As soon as they met, he asked about her project, Mythic Realm. 

“I was in Northvale for a meeting last week, and the higher–ups really emphasized how much Mythic Realm is helping to preserve our culture,” Wade said. 

“I checked out the trailer, it’s already got 200 million views. That’s seriously impressive!” he added. 

Both Mythic Realm and InquireMind were Aurelia’s pride and joy. 

“Thanks for the encouragement, Mr. Lautner. We’ll keep working hard!” Aurelia said with a confident smile. 

Wade wanted to chat a bit more with Aurelia, but someone came over needing him, so he had to wrap up their conversation in a hurry. 

Chapter 305 

Aurelia headed into the summit hall right after.

The organizers had already set the seating chart, and Aurelia’s spot was smack dab in the middle of the front 

row. 

No question about it, she had the center stage. 

But what she wasn’t too happy about was that Cassian was seated right next to her. 

No matter how she felt, she wasn’t about to let it show. So, Aurelia strolled over with her usual confidence and took her seat. 

Tessa arrived earlier than Cassian, and bumped into Kyler right at the entrance. 

She parted her lips, wanting to say hi, but Kyler strode past her without even a glance. 

Tessa’s smile vanished, her eyes growing frosty. 

Then, Zane greeted her, “Ms. Rowe.” 

Seeing Zane show up actually put Tessa in a better mood. 

Tessa smiled. “Mr. Lavell, you came for the summit too?” 

“I was just in Ashmont, so I figured I’d stop by. Didn’t think I’d bump into you, Ms. Rowe.” Zane shrugged. 

Tessa laughed softly. “Guess we’re just meant to cross paths.” 

A hint of a smile played on Zane’s lips. There was definitely something flirty in the air. 

Tessa handled men like Zane with effortless ease. She tossed her hair and gave him a playful look. “I’ve already met your conditions, Mr. Lavell. So, when’s that investment money hitting my account?” 

“Ms. Rowe, you’re impressively efficient,” Zane said, open admiration in his eyes. 

In just two days, Tessa had met all of Zane’s investment conditions, raising 500 million dollars from other 

sources. 

As promised, Zane would invest five times that amount before HelixTech went public, which was a staggering 2.5 billion dollars. 

That kind of cash would wipe out all her current problems. 

“I’ll just take that as you flirting with me, Mr. Lavell,” Tessa teased, flashing him a playful smile. 

After chatting for a bit, Zane glanced at the time and reminded her it was time to head inside. 

Tessa said she was still waiting for someone, so Zane replied, “I’ll head in first, then.” 

“Alright.” Tessa nodded.

He’d barely left when Cassian showed up. With time running out, neither of them said a word as they headed inside. 

Tessa naturally followed Cassian’s lead, trailing after him as they headed straight for the front row. 

But when they reached the seats, Tessa saw that her name was nowhere to be found, just Cassian’s name on 

the card. 

To make matters worse, the seat right next to Cassian was reserved for Aurelia. 

When Tessa spotted Aurelia, she let her gaze grow cold. 

Cassian didn’t catch the chill in her eyes. He scanned the room and saw her seat was all the way back in the second–to–last row. 

“Let me talk to the organizers, see if they can bump you up to the front row,” he offered. 

Tessa quickly waved him off. “No need to make a fuss. I’m fine in the back, you really don’t have to keep looking out for me.” 

“Will you be alright back there?” Cassian couldn’t hide the worry in his voice. 

Tessa flashed him a confident smile. “I’m not a little kid, Cassian. I can handle myself. Go on, take your seat. I’ll head back too.” 

Tessa handled herself with mature grace, really giving off the vibe of a true boss lady. 

She gave Aurelia a cold glance, then with quiet poise headed to the seat the organizers had set aside for her. 

Meanwhile, Aurelia had her headphones in, focused on a work report, completely unaware of the flirty exchange that had just gone down between Tessa and Cassian. 

Lucky for her, she missed it all, otherwise, it would’ve been seriously cringe. 

Once Tessa sat down, she kept a close eye on Aurelia, barely looking anywhere else. 

She was worried Aurelia might try to use this chance to get closer to Cassian. 

After watching for a while and seeing Aurelia didn’t even spare Cassian a glance, Tessa scoffed inwardly, ‘She’s just pretending to be all proper.’ 

Kyler was seated in the second row, diagonally behind Aurelia. 

Whenever he looked toward the stage, he had a clear view of her. Honestly, he couldn’t have asked for a better spot. 

Zane was also in the front row, but on the other side. 

Midway through, Tessa noticed Zane stealing glances at her, a subtle smile lingering on his lips. 

Straightening up, she traced a finger along her cheek to tuck a stray lock behind her ear, openly flaunting her

Not long after the summit began, Wade mentioned Regal Investment several times in his speech. 

Regal Investment stole the spotlight at this summit. 

Even the people sitting next to Tessa were chatting about Aurelia, their voices full of obvious envy.

“And on top of all that, she’s young and beautiful. Isn’t that just unfair?” the second person chimed in. 

Then, another replied, “Seriously, right?” 

“Ugh, you guys are killing me, I’m eating my heart out. Back when Ms. Corin was looking for investors for InquireMind, nobody wanted in, not even me. 

“If I’d known it would turn into such a goldmine, I would’ve sold my soul and everything I owned just to get a piece of it!” a man grumbled in a low, defeated voice. 

His friend next to him patted him. “Some people just aren’t destined for that kind of luck!” 

That was infuriating. As Tessa listened to all the chatter, her expression turned increasingly frosty and grim. 

When she looked over at Aurelia again, an unsettling realization crept in; she might never be able to catch up to Aurelia, not in this lifetime.
