Chapter 311 

Even Tessa let out a soft chuckle, thinking to herself that Karlie’s idea was totally out there. 

As the group entered the exchange, Aurelia was on the phone. It was a call from the sponsor. 

“Are you sure?” Aurelia asked. After getting a definite answer, Aurelia broke into a smile. “Alright, I got it. Thanks for everything you’ve done lately.” 

Tessa caught sight of Aurelia’s bright smile and subtly furrowed her brows, keeping her reaction hidden. 

Then, she forced a smile and casually linked arms with Cassian. “Cassian, let’s head over there. It’s way too noisy here.” 

Cassian replied, “Sure.” 

At 10:58, Jasper called Cassian and asked how things were going with HelixTech. 

Cassian replied, “We’re still waiting for the results.” 

“Fingers crossed it goes through. My dad’s been glued to his computer, refreshing the page hundreds of times,” Jasper said. 

By now, Jasper didn’t care about HelixTech going public for the money anymore. He just wanted Steven to hear some good news; maybe it’d cheer him up and help him recover faster. 

At 10:59, Tessa got a call from the sponsor. Karlie nudged her, “Pick it up, pick it up! It’s gotta be good news. I can’t wait anymore!” 

Tessa laughed, “Why are you so jumpy?” 

Alina, cool as ever, just shrugged. “Didn’t we already get the result?” She paused, glanced at the empty seat, and frowned. “What’s taking your dad so long in the bathroom? He might miss the big moment.” 

Tessa picked up the call from the sponsor, and one could see the excitement all over her face. “Mr. Marshall, did we get the results?” 

Whatever Raphael said next made Tessa’s smile freeze on her face. 

Just then, the exchange’s clock chimed the hour. Right in the center of the main bulletin board, two official announcements for listing approvals popped up. 

The first one read: [Approval Notice: InquireMind is approved to publicly issue common shares to the general public.] 

Right after, Aurelia and her team erupted into cheers. Tyson was so pumped that he wrapped Aurelia in a big hug. “Aurelia. we did it!” he exclaimed. 

The rest of the team started hugging each other too, everyone all smiles, celebrating their victory together. 

Karlie rolled her eyes, wishing she could just block out all the noise. “Ugh, it’s deafening in here!” At the same time, she kept muttering under her breath, annoyed that the bulletin board still hadn’t switched to the second announcement. 

Tessa, still on the phone, let her hand fall limply to her side. Her face drained of all color, turning gray and lifeless. It was as if every ounce of strength had left her, and she slumped back into her chair. 

The noise around her seemed to come through a thick layer of frosted glass, muffled and far away. Everything before her faded, leaving nothing but a washed–out gray. 

Alina frowned, just about to ask what was up. The announcement screen began to update.

Karlie cried out excitedly. “It’s our turn! It’s our turn!” But as soon as she finished speaking, her face went stiff.

She stared at the bulletin board in disbelief, her eyes wide. “Who’s Evergreen Entertainment? I’ve never even heard of them.” 

She didn’t get an answer. Over at Aurelia’s side, another wave of cheers crupted, even louder than before. 

Arturo raised his fists above his head, shouting with excitement, “Thank you, Ms. Corin! Without you, Mythic Realm wouldn’t be where it is today! Thank you!” 

For a guy who’d never shown any emotion, not even when life hit rock bottom, his eyes were actually tearing up. In the end, he just kept holding Aurelia’s hand, thanking her over and over, his words all jumbled up. 

Karlie was a beat behind, her eyes going wide in disbelief. “Evergreen Entertainment is Aurelia’s company, too? 

“No way!” she blurted out. “Aurelia’s getting two companies listed on the same day?” 

She looked around, hoping someone would tell her she was wrong, but everyone just sat there in stunned silence. No one had an answer for her. 

She turned to Tessa, desperation in her voice. “Tessa, what’s going on? What did the sponsor say?” 

Tessa just sat there in silence. No one could possibly know how suffocated she felt inside. 

This moment of failure was like a massive, icy net, wrapping around her so tightly she could barely breathe, leaving her trapped in darkness, unable to see even a glimmer of light. 

She was utterly crushed. Only three words echoed in her mind. She was finished. 

Daniel finally showed up late, weaving through the lively crowd to reach Tessa. He looked clearly out of the loop and asked, “Did we get the results yet?” 

Alina shot him a frosty, sarcastic look. “Why not just come tonight and save yourself the trouble?” 

Just from her tone, Daniel knew exactly what had happened. Daniel tried to cheer Tessa up. “Hey, don’t sweat it. Most folks don’t hit it big on their first go. Just keep grinding.” 

Karlie, face scrunched up in misery, complained, “How does Aurelia do it? She didn’t just succeed once; she got two companies listed at the same time!” 

Karlie threw up her hands, “She’s gotta be a devil or something!” 

Daniel couldn’t hide his surprise either. Without thinking, he turned to look in Aurelia’s direction. 

After celebrating with the crowd, Aurelia slipped away to a quiet corner and called Ella. “Mom, I did it!” she exclaimed. 

Tucked away in a quiet corner not far from the crowd, Gideon watched everything unfold. He witnessed it all. 

When InquireMind finally made it to the public market, relief washed over him; he could finally breathe easy. He couldn’t help but feel happy for her. 

But all he could do was stand at a distance, watching her bask in the spotlight, unable to join in her joy. He felt a pang of longing; he could only watch, not be a part of her celebration. 

Suddenly, his phone rang. The name flashing on the screen jerked him out of his thoughts and pulled him back to reality. He didn’t pick up. He was getting ready to leave. 

But before heading out, he looked over at Aurelia once more. Another round of cheers broke out from Aurelia’s crowd. 

Gideon let a small smile slip, whispering in his heart the words he’d always wanted to say to her. ‘Aurelia, congratulations,’ he

Too bad, all he could do now was watch her from a distance and quietly wish her the best. He once promised he’d never mis any of her important moments. But now, he no longer had a place by her side. 

His phone rang again. He lowered his gaze, turned, and walked away. Aurelia sensed sormething and looked back toward the 

entrance. 

She could have sworn she saw someone familiar standing there. But when she looked again, there was nothing at all. 

It wasn’t until Gideon stepped out of the exchange that he finally picked up the phone, just as it was about to go to voicemail A woman’s honeyed voice came through. “Babe, where did you go? I woke up, and you weren’t there.” 

“I went out to get you breakfast. Didn’t you say you wanted those sesame buns from Lotus Bakery?” Gideon replied. 

The woman pouted playfully. “I just said it in passing, and you actually remembered? You went all that way just for me?” 

Meanwhile, in Ashmont. Steven refreshed the page, and when the approval announcement popped up, everything went dark for a moment. 

“Dad!” Jasper freaked out, frantically calling for help. 

A bunch of doctors and nurses rushed in to try to save Steven, and Jasper was shoved out of the room. 

Jasper just collapsed to the floor, clutching his hair in agony, totally lost. Despair crashed over him, leaving him completely powerless. 

As the rescue dragged on, Jasper fell to his knees, begging the universe for just a sliver of hope. After a while, the doctor who’d been trying to save Steven finally came out of the room. 

Jasper staggered to his feet, didn’t dare to say a word, his eyes red and desperate as he looked at the doctor. The doctor just shook his head. 

Jasper collapsed back to the floor, his whole world crashing down. It was all gone, Everything was gone. He was the one who let the Quinn family down.
