Chapter 319 

On the night before the cruise ended, Aurelia was enjoying a bath on her balcony, the sea breeze drifting around her. 

The sea was unusually calm tonight. 

With the full moon hanging high, the night sky wasn’t just endless black. It was touched by a gentle shade of deep blue. 

The stars over the sea were truly breathtaking. 

The atmosphere was just right. But then, the sound of a man and a woman arguing floated up from downstairs, interrupting Aurelia’s peaceful moment. 

The woman was pleading with the man, asking him not to blow all their money on gambling. 

But the man insisted he had no choice. If they couldn’t come up with the surgery money, the orphanage director wouldn’t make it to next week. 

Aurelia gathered the gist from their conversation. 

It turned out that they weren’t a couple at all, but two kids who’d grown up together in the orphanage. 

Both of them were worried sick about the medical bills for the orphanage director who’d raised them. In the end, the guy decided to go all in. He was going to try his luck at the cruise ship’s casino. 

Whatever happened after that, Aurelia would never know, because they’d already gone far. 

Aurelia soaked in the tub for a little longer before finally heading back to her bedroom. 

Miranda knocked and came in, asking if Aurelia wanted to go downstairs and check things out. She said Aurelia hadn’t really gotten to enjoy the trip yet. 

Aurelia actually had some free time tonight for once. 

Joey was with the psychiatrist for a hypnotherapy session, so she wouldn’t be coming over. Aurelia decided to go downstairs with Miranda. 

When Aurelia showed up at the outdoor party, everyone else was already there. 

Everyone looked somewhat excited. 

The way they kept glancing at her, it was obvious they were expecting something. 

But whenever Aurelia tried to catch their eyes or figure out what was going on, they all avoided her gaze. 

“Ms. Corin, sit here. This spot is just right for you.” Someone had even gone out of their way to save a seat just for Aurelia. 

Aurelia smiled and asked, “Just right for what?” 

“It’s nothing,” the person mumbled, dodging her question. 

Aurelia grew even more curious as she looked around the crowd, realizing someone wasn’t there. 

Tyson wasn’t around. 

Just as she was about to ask, her eyes landed on a small stage set up right in front of her. 

The stage had obviously been decorated with a lot of thought.

She wondered. This seems like… a proposal setup. Is someone about to confess? 

Aurelia’s heart gave a little jolt as she started to put the pieces together. She kept sipping her water, thinking about how to get out of this awkward scene. 

While Tyson wasn’t there yet, Aurelia got up and said she needed to use the restroom. 

Miranda offered to go with her, but Aurelia waved her off. “I’ll be right back. You don’t need to come with me.” 

She knew Miranda was worried about her safety.. 

But after the whole thing with Juliana, Darren had quintupled the security on the cruise ship. Nobody would dare try anything shady right now. 

Miranda knew that too, so she didn’t push it. 

Aurelia managed to slip away without anyone noticing. 

She’d originally planned to head back to her room, but then she thought, ‘Since I’m already out, I might as well look around and not waste this trip.‘ 

The cruise ship was buzzing with nightlife. There were bars, lounges, game rooms, and even a casino. 

As Aurelia wandered over to the casino, the conversation between those two from earlier flashed through her mind. 

In the end, she decided to step inside. 

Gambling was totally legal here. 

Honestly, a lot of people hopped on this cruise just for that wild, almost unreal feeling of maybe hitting it big overnight. 

This was the real cash cow of the whole cruise, the heart of its profits. 

Inside the casino, glitz and glamour collided in a haze of luxury and temptation. 

The décor was so over–the–top that one could easily forget who one was in all that opulence. 

There wasn’t a single window or a clock in sight. 

The lights blazed like it was always daytime so that one’d lose track of time without even realizing it. 

Aurelia wasn’t really into gambling. She was just strolling around, taking in the sights. 

As she passed by a roulette table, she heard a familiar voice, 

“It’s been red ten times in a row. The eleventh spin has to be black. I’m going all in.” 

Aurelia glanced over and saw a young man, probably in his early twenties. 

He was still wearing his waiter’s uniform, so he probably only got on board thanks to his job. 

There were barely any chips left in front of him. 

His face was all scrunched up. Clearly, luck hadn’t been on his side tonight. 

The girl next to him, eyes red from crying, grabbed his hand. “Bro, please, stop gambling. If you lose again, we’ll be out of money.” 

“Trust me, this time I’ll win for sure,” he insisted.

“Bro…” The girl was already sobbing, her voice choked with panic. 

The guy shoved her aside, about to shout for the dealer to spin, when Aurelia stepped in. 

Her tone was light, almost teasing. “You know, every spin is its own thing. The odds for red or black on the eleventh spin are exactly the same as before. It doesn’t matter what happened in the last ten rounds.” 

The girl seized the opportunity to grab all the chips back. 

Right then, the roulette wheel spun. 

The guy’s eyes were glued to the wheel as it spun, waiting for it to stop. 

‘Red? It’s red again, the guy thought as he collapsed to the floor, as if all the strength had drained out of him. 

The girl, voice trembling, managed a tearful “thank you” to Aurelia. 

If it hadn’t been for Aurelia, they would’ve lost everything this time. 

But honestly, things weren’t much better for them now. 

This was a casino, after all, and Aurelia could only do so much. She couldn’t really mess with their livelihood. 

So she just gave the girl a small nod and turned to leave. 

Suddenly, the guy jumped up and called out to her, his voice desperate. “Then tell me, what should I bet on to win?” 

Aurelia turned back and said flatly, “Don’t bet at all.” 

“But I really need the money,” he burst out. 

Aurelia knew that. 

But she still advised, “There’s no such thing as a sure win at the tables. The longer you play, the more you lose. It’s just how it goes.” 

“Please, help me. I’m begging you,” he begged. 

Aurelia frowned, thinking that she shouldn’t have butted in just now. 

Even the girl came over and grabbed Aurelia’s hand. “Please, help us.” 

In the end, Aurelia took the two of them over to the poker tables. 

She showed them how to use the head–to–head rules, crunch the numbers for their odds, calculate their chances of winning. and how often to bluff. 

This was a strategy Cassian had taught her. 

Back then, it was this very method that helped Cassian beat the legendary gambler, Sean.

With Aurelia’s help, the guy finally won a hand.

He looked torn. “I’m on a lucky streak right now. It’d be a waste to walk away.”

She didn’t say anything else and just turned to leave. 

The guy rushed after her, calling out, “Hey, I never asked. What’s your name?” 

Aurelia didn’t answer and was just about to walk away. 

Suddenly, two men in black stepped in front of her, blocking her path. 

One of them spoke up. “Ms. Corin, Mr. Keith wants to see you.” 

Even though he mentioned Mr. Keith, it was clear that he wasn’t referring to Darren. 

When Aurelia stepped inside, she was surprised to find Sean waiting for her. 

Even though Sean was nearly fifty, he had the vibe of someone much younger, and he was dressed stylishly. 

To Aurelia’s surprise, Darren was there as well.

“Sean, sending people to bring Ms. Corin over so suddenly is just going to scare her,” Darren remarked, unhurriedly from his spot on the couch. 

Sean let out a hearty laugh. “I’m just curious to see what kind of–person Ms. Corin really is.”
