Alina waited until Daniel was drunk and spent the night with him. 

Then she used that as an excuse to say she was carrying his baby. 

But Alina never expected Daniel to have a secret DNA test done after the baby was born, only to find out the kid wasn’t his 

But Alina kept holding Daniel’s father’s issue over his head, so Daniel just put up with it. 

Daniel put up with it for more than twenty years. 

Alina was well aware that Daniel despised her. 

During her time in custody, she never once expected Daniel to come to her rescue. 

After all, she always had a way out. 

Daniel watched her shift from panic to cool composure, and it didn’t surprise him one bit. 

He’d long since learned how shrewd and deep Alina could be. 

He didn’t bother with more words, just said calmly, “If you’re that confident, let’s see how this plays out. 

“By the way, I’ve had my lawyer draft the divorce agreement. He’ll reach out to you directly.” 

Alina’s calm facade instantly shattered. “I won’t agree to this. Daniel, don’t you dare. 

“Save those words for my lawyer,” Daniel said coolly. 

“Don’t you care about your future anymore?” Alina spat, her voice dripping with venom as she tried to threaten him.

Daniel chuckled. “Not anymore. Now that I’m this age, I finally get it. None of that matters. It’s all just smoke and mirrors. So you’ve lost your leverage over me for good.” 

“No way!” Alina cried out, her voice trembling as she realized Daniel meant every word. “We can’t get divorced, not until Tessa marries Cassian. We just can’t.” 

“She’s your daughter, not mine. Why should I care about her future?” Daniel replied coldly. 

Seeing Alina lose control, Daniel couldn’t help but feel a bit satisfied. “And besides, Cassian’s not going to marry Tessa. 

“He will,” Alina snapped, her voice ringing with absolute certainty. “He’s going to marry her, no matter what.” 

She knew Cassian was genuinely invested in Tessa. 

That was why she put so much faith in Cassian. She even confided in him the secret she’d guarded for so many years. 

Daniel didn’t bother arguing with her. It was pointless. 

As he stood up, he felt a sudden wave of relief wash over him. 

Daniel couldn’t even remember the last time he’d felt this free. 

Before leaving, he casually dropped a bombshell on Alina. 

“Guess what? Aurelia’s mom was my first love,” Daniel said, his voice light, almost teasing.

Alina’s shouting abruptly cut off, and she just stood there, completely stunned. 

Daniel walked away, totally at ease, not once looking back.. 

Just as he stepped out, Alina’s sharp, furious voice echoed from the visitation room. “Daniel, get back here. What did you mean by that?” 

But she was just screaming at empty air. Daniel was gone for good, and he wasn’t ever coming back. 

The words Daniel left behind hit Alina harder than any betrayal, wounding her deeper than any blade ever could. 

As the staff dragged her back to her cell, her mind was spinning out of control. 

Alina thought, ‘Aurelia’s mom is Daniel’s first love. 

‘And Aurelia is raised by a single parent. 

‘Doing the math…‘ 

Alina’s mind spun out of control. 

Her heart, once calm, was now in total turmoil. 

The next day, just like Daniel promised, a lawyer showed up to talk about divorce with her. 

Alina wasn’t having any of it. 

The lawyer explained that if she didn’t sign the divorce agreement, they could take it to court. It’d drag things out a bit longer. 

In other words, Alina was just struggling in vain, refusing to let go. 

It was pointless. 

“Go back and tell Daniel. There’s no way I’ll let him succeed. Over my dead body will he ever get back together with his first love.” Alina shouted. 

Alina’s rage–filled shouts echoed through the detention center, her voice wild and desperate. 

The lawyer didn’t even flinch. He calmly packed up his files and walked out. 

After that, Alina was so mad that she actually fell seriously ill. 

For the sake of her recovery, the detention center put her in a single cell. 

But it was even smaller, gloomier, and felt way more oppressive than the one before. 

Every day, when the nurses came in for her checkup, Alina would always ask, “Did anyone come to see me today?” 

They’d just shake their heads and say, “No idea.” 

Still, Alina kept hoping. She waited for Cassian to show up. 

Daniel had told her Cassian wasn’t coming, that something had happened to him. 

He said she was out of options, no way out left. 

But even now, Alina thought to herself, ‘Daniel’s just bluffing, trying to scare me. 

Chapter 330 

In a situation like this, all they could do was let time smooth things over. 

She knew exactly how these things worked. That was why she was so sure about it. 

“Once things quiet down and the timing’s right, Tessa and I will walk out of here safe and sound, Alina snd, her voice steady and full of conviction. 

She didn’t forget to thank Cassian. “You’ve gone out of your way for us these days. Once we’re out of here, we can finally start planning your wedding with Tessa. She’s been dreaming of marrying you for so long.” 

Cassian’s brows drew together, his gaze turning somber. When Alina looked at him with hope in her eyes, he spoke in a low, heavy voice. “That day will never come.”
