So for the rest of the drive, it was just Aurelia and the driver in the car.

She was so focused, she didn’t notice the driver’s gaze in the rearview mirror, which kept sneaking glances at her. 

Those eyes were filled with an undeniable longing.

The car pulled up smoothly in front of Regal Investment Tower, and Aurelia closed her laptop, ready to get out.

Miranda was already waiting at the entrance. As soon as she spotted Aurelia, she jogged over to meet her. 

With her laptop bag in hand, Aurelia told Miranda, “Grab the luggage.” 

Miranda took the suitcase from the driver, sneaking a glance at Aurelia, who was already halfway up the steps. 

Once she was sure Aurelia was out of earshot, Miranda lowered her voice and said to the driver, “I’m only breaking the rules for you this once. If Aurelia finds out, I’m dead meat.” 

“Got it,” the driver replied. 

Miranda didn’t dare stick around. She hurried after Aurelia, pushing the suitcase along. 

Cassian stood there, his gaze secretly trailing after her as she walked away, making sure no one was watching. 

After a while, his phone rang. 

Cassian answered the call, taking his sweet time. 

On the other end, Leonardo Markey sounded anxious. “Where are you? I’ve been waiting forever!” 

Cassian said, sounding laid–back, “I’m on my way.” 

Leonardo kept nagging, “What’s wrong with you? You’re supposed to get checked out, and you’re not even in a rush.” 

Cassian couldn’t be bothered to reply. He just hung up and took his time driving over to Leonardo’s therapy office. 

By the time Cassian got there, Jasper was already waiting.

“It’s worse than before,” Leonardo said gravely. “He needs systematic treatment, and it has to start right away 

Jasper was about to say they should get the treatment started right away. 

But Cassian, with a listless shrug, said, “Nah, there’s nothing left to fix. Every day I get now is a bonus. I don’t want to mess with it anymore.” 

“No way!” Jasper and Leonardo cut him off in unison. 

“Cassian, even if it’s for Mr. Locke, you owe it to him to keep going,” Jasper said, his voice full of worry. 

Cassian’s eyes shifted slowly. “The year my mom died, both he and I were already dead inside. I’ve stuck around long enough. That’s more than enough.” 

Jasper wanted to say more. 

But Cassian was already standing up, grabbing his coat. “I’m heading home to have dinner with the old man. You guys do whatever you want.” 

Jasper started to say something, but stopped himself. 

But the words never came out. He just let it go. 

Leonardo looked seriously worried, his tone grave. “This is not good at all. He’s even worse off than before. Back then, he had some serious suicidal thoughts. 

“Meeting Aurelia helped those thoughts fade, and the drive to get revenge for his mom was the only thing keeping him going. 

“Now that he’s gotten his revenge and Aurelia’s completely out of his life, he’s lost all his purpose and motivation. That’s why he feels like there’s no point in living anymore.” 

Jasper felt like his throat was clogged with wet cotton. He could barely breathe. 

As Cassian’s friend, he couldn’t help but feel ashamed. 

After all these years, he realized he didn’t know much about Cassian at all. 

He had no idea that when Cassian’s mom passed away, he was crushed by trauma and haunted by intense suicidal thoughts.

Leonardo patted Jasper’s shoulder, his voice full of genuine concern. “You need to find a way to reach him, and soon. If this keeps dragging on, something bad is going to happen sooner or later. 

Jasper felt the weight in his chest grow heavier. 

That afternoon, Aurelia got off work early and drove over to the hotel to pick up Joey so they could have dinner together at home. 

Ella whipped up some homestyle dishes for dinner, nothing fancy, just comfort food, but Joey was all smiles, enjoying every bite. 

After dinner, Ella grabbed two jars of her homemade traditional medicine from the fridge and handed them to Aurelia. asking her to drop them off for Benjamin. 

A few days ago, Ella was chatting with Abigail and found out that ever since Benjamin caught the HINI flu, his cough wouldn’t go away. 

He’d tried all kinds of medicine, but nothing worked. He kept coughing through the night and could never get a decent sleep. 

So Ella cooked up this traditional medicine, hoping it might do the trick. 

“Sure,” Aurelia said. 

She was about to go check in on Benjamin anyway. 

Joey asked Aurelia in a small, hopeful voice, “Can I go with you?” 

“Of course,” Aurelia said. She never said no to Joey. She even added, “There are loads of plump koi fish in Benjamin’s place. and they’re absolutely adorable.” 

Joey could hardly wait now. 

As Aurelia drove toward the Locke residence, she passed by that abandoned villa shell on Pinewood Road again. 

In the twilight, it seemed even lonelier and more forgotten. 

Aurelia just swung by unexpectedly, so she hadn’t told Abigail or Benjamin. She didn’t want them to go out of their way to 

cook for her. 

When she arrived, the gate was closed. 

Aurelia pressed the video doorbell.

Abigail answered, her voice full of surprise. “Aurelia, why are you here all of a sudden?* 

“I brought some traditional medicine for Mr. Locke, Aurelia explained. 

Abigail was clearly flustered. “Hang on, I’ll come open the gate.” 

With that, she hung up in a hurry.

Aurelia found it a bit odd. There was a buzzer inside, so Abigail didn’t need to come out and open the gate herself. 

But Aurelia kept quiet and just waited patiently outside.

“I was just passing by and thought I’d drop off some traditional medicine for Mr. Locke. I didn’t want to trouble you, so I didn’t call ahead,” Aurelia replied, pulling Joey along as they went inside.

Aurelia rested her hand on Joey’s head and said, “This is my daughter.” 

Abigail froze, totally blindsided.
