“If you’re really that curious about what Aurelia tossed in there, could have someone drain the whole lake for you to dig around,” Jasper said. 

Jasper let out a sigh, feeling a bit exasperated himself. 

Honestly, none of them had a clue what Aurelia threw in. And even if they did, it’d been five years. It was impossible to find 

out. 

“Cassian, where are you living lately?” Jasper had always been curious about this. 

Leonardo said they needed to persuade Cassian to get some systematic psychological treatment as soon as possible. 

But before that, they had to keep track of his whereabouts, just to make sure he didn’t do anything extreme again. 

“What’s with all the questions?” Cassian shot back. 

He still refused to answer. 

Jasper couldn’t make him talk, so he switched tactics. “How about coming back to work at Extremely? It’s your company, after all. Since you’re back, maybe I can finally take a vacation.” 

“Not interested. The company’s under your name anyway, has nothing to do with me,” Cassian said. 

Cassian still seemed utterly drained, showing zero interest in anything. 

No matter how much Jasper talked his head off, he couldn’t get Cassian to budge.

On Monday, someone from InquireMind came to Regal Investment for a work report. 

It wasn’t Tyson who showed up but his wife, Daphne, the current deputy general manager of Inquire Mind. 

Aurelia still remembered Daphne as she was back when she worked as Tyson’s secretary.

The woman standing before her now, with that arrogant attitude was a far cry from the Daphne she used to know. 

“Ugh, what is this awful coffee? Don’t tell me it’s instant. Seriously, I only drink coffee made from fresh grounds,” Daphne sneered. 

Before Aurelia even walked into the meeting room, she could already hear Daphne nitpicking and bossing the secretary 

around. 

Miranda leaned in and whispered to Aurelia, “Daphne married Mr. Morris, and not long after, she had a son. That locked in her status for good, and she got bumped up to deputy general manager at InquireMind. Ever since then, she’s been a nightmare to deal with, acting like she’s above everyone else.” 

“Mr. Morris was always the one giving the reports before, so we barely interacted with her. No clue why she’s the one handling your first work report since you came back to Regal Investment,” Miranda added.

As soon as Aurelia stepped into the meeting room, Daphne’s attitude shifted. She put on a courteous smile and greeted her, “Ms. Corin, long time no see” 

Aurelia gestured for her to sit down, then opened her laptop and dove straight into the agenda. 

It was clear Daphne had done her homework. Her presentation was impressive and she handled the professional details well 

There were a few minor slip–ups, but they were well within acceptable limits. 

But as the meeting was about to wrap up, Daphne suddenly spoke up. “Ms. Corin, you really gave InquireMind a huge boost back in the day, but let’s be real, InquireMind has made you a lot of money over the years. Honestly, it’s been the main driver behind most of Regal Investment’s revenue.” 

Aurelia leaned back in her chair, just waiting to see where Daphne was going with this. 

Daphne leaned in, her intentions obviously self–serving. “Tyson told me you two worked out the share split yourselves. You put up the cash, he brought the tech. That arrangement made sense at the time, but now, it seerns a little one–sided, don’t you think?” 

“So, you want to take over InquireMind’s management?” Aurelia didn’t bother with pleasantries. She put Daphne on the spot, cutting right to the heart of it. 

Daphne clearly hadn’t seen that coming. Her face faltered, caught off guard and a little uncomfortable. 

But she didn’t bother to deny it. “That’s exactly it. I want Regal Investment to cut down its shares in InquireMind and hand over the reins. Just be a hands–off investor and sit back while the dividends roll in every quarter.” 

‘She’s got some audacity,‘ Aurelia thought. 

Aurelia smirked. “You said it yourself, the contract was between me and Tyson. So if you want to renegotiate, have Tyson come talk to me himself.” 

“I’m Tyson’s wife. I can speak for him,” Daphne shot back, stubborn as ever. 

“Not with me, you don’t,” Aurelia replied, her voice firm and unwavering. 

In the end, Daphne walked out with a frosty expression. 

Miranda was furious, railing against Daphne’s shameless ambition. “How is this any different from biting the hand that fed her? She really thinks she’s hot stuff now, actually daring to challenge you to your face!” 

“Back then, you pulled every string and drank with anyone who’d listen just to get InquireMind off the ground. How can they all just forget who helped them get started?” Miranda grumbled. 

“It’s just human nature,” Aurelia said, unfazed. 

If this were the old Aurelia, she would’ve lost her cool. 

But after everything she’d been through, she didn’t hold out hope for people anymore. 

Miranda frowned, worry written all over her face. “Wait, does Tyson want the same thing too?” 

“Look into who Daphne has been close to lately,” Aurelia instructed. 

Miranda was impressively efficient. Aurelia only gave the order that morning, and by the afternoon, Miranda had already found out everything she needed. 

“ExtremTech?” Aurelia glanced at the name, but it didn’t ring any bells.

But the boss of ExtremTech is super mysterious. No one’s ever seen his face in public, Miranda added. 

According to the company registry, the legal representative is a middle–aged man in his fifties named Samuell Leumund. 

And there weren’t any other businesses tied to his name. 

If Daphne really got involved with ExtremTech, that’d be bad news for Regal Investment. 

Right around the same time, Jasper filled Cassian in on Daphne’s connection with ExtremTech. 

He definitely had his own motives. 

Words alone wouldn’t move Cassian. 

But if it had something to do with Aurelia, maybe Cassian would actually listen. 

Sure enough, as soon as Cassian heard Aurelia was involved, his interest was instantly piqued. 

“Reject it,” Cassian said, his tone short and to the point.

Jasper said. “Of course we have to reject it. Regal Investment relies on InquireMind for half its revenue. If people find out that InquireMind is betraying Regal Investment, it would hit us hard!” 

“Who told you Regal Investment makes half its money from InquireMind?” Cassian brushed it off, not even bothering to 

care. 

Jasper blinked, a little surprised. “Isn’t that what everyone says?” 

“You shouldn’t put all your eggs in one basket. Trust me, she understands that better than you ever will,” Cassian said, sounding nonchalant again. 

Jasper asked, “You’re that certain?” 

“Absolutely,” Cassian replied, not a hint of doubt in his voice. 

Five years ago, when he found out she’d had the guts to sign that high–stakes deal all on her own, he realized she wasn’t the rookie who needed his careful protection anymore.
