The hallway outside the VIP room was quiet, with no one around 

Cassian walked quickly.

Jasper chased after him, jogging to keep up. “Cassian, are you feeling unwell from the alcohol? Do you need to see a doctor?” 

“No,” Cassian replied. 

He paused, and Jasper nearly bumped into him. 

Cassian turned to look at him. “Don’t follow me.” 

“But…” Jasper’s worry was obvious. 

“I know what you’re worried about. Don’t stress, I’m not planning on doing anything reckless right now,” Cassian said firmly. 

Cassian went on without waiting for Jasper’s response, “Aurelia is giving seven back–to–back lectures at Ashmont University. I’ll be there for all of them. Don’t come bothering me.” 

Jasper got it. 

He nodded right away. “Alright! But you just had some drinks, so don’t drive. I’ll have the driver take you home.” 

Then I’ll know where he lives,‘ Jasper thought. 

But Cassian shot him down without hesitation. 

“I’ll call my own ride,” Cassian said. 

With that, he turned and walked away, leaving Jasper with nothing but a cold, distant back. 

But this time, Jasper wasn’t nearly as tense. 

He wasn’t worried that Cassian would do anything reckless. 

‘Guess I can finally relax for a while,‘ Jasper thought. 

Aurelia’s classes were held on Monday and Wednesday afternoons. 

It was the prime slot. 

The time when the lecture hall was packed with students. 

Thanks to Aurelia’s stellar background and popularity, every seat was snapped up long before the class even started. 

Luckily, Cassian showed up early. 

When he arrived, the classroom was nearly empty. 

But instead of grabbing a prime seat, he went straight for the farthest corner in the back, hiding out with his mask, a cap, and even glasses on. 

When the other students came in and saw the first person there sitting all the way in the corner, they couldn’t figure out why he’d pick the loneliest spot in the room. 

Aurelia showed up to the lecture hall right on time, only to be surprised by the huge crowd waiting for her. The turnout

made her a bit nervous. 

But she shook off the nerves pretty quickly, 

She’d faced big audiences before, so it didn’t take long for her to hit her stride. 

Luckily, she’d prepped her lesson plan in advance, and her teaching style was super chill. 

Even the most boring finance topics came alive in her class, and the students were actually having a blast. 

There was laughter all throughout the class. 

Aurelia specifically set aside ten minutes at the end for students to ask questions. 

At first, everyone was all business, sticking to academic topics and asking earnest, knowledge–based questions. 

She answered every question thoughtfully, giving each one her full attention. 

But then, the conversation totally went off the rails.

A tall, handsome guy from the crowd suddenly called out, “Professor Corin, do you have a boyfriend? Can I ask you out?” 

As soon as he said that, everyone started teasing and laughing. 

But the guy just looked straight at Aurelia, totally serious and bold, waiting for her answer. 

Aurelia raised her hand to quiet everyone down, then held up her right hand, clearly showing her engagement ring. 

Then Aurelia gave the guy a warm, gentle smile. “Sorry, you’re out of luck. I’m already engaged.” 

The whole class groaned in disappointment, and right on cue, the bell rang to end the session. 

Aurelia packed up her notes, still smiling as she said goodbye to everyone. 

It wasn’t until Aurelia disappeared through the doorway that Cassian finally tore his gaze away from her. 

Only in a crowded lecture hall like this could he openly watch her as much as he wanted, without worrying about anyone noticing. 

He’d always known Aurelia was popular. 

But he never expected one of her own students to hit on her right in the middle of class. 

“Bro, you’re not really here for the lecture, are you?” 

The guy next to Cassian shot him a confused look. “Man, you didn’t jot down a single note all class. That’s kinda sus.” 

Cassian’s throat tightened. After a long, awkward pause, he mumbled, “Uh… I, uh, lost my backpack.” 

He’d been so caught up watching Aurelia that he totally forgot to play the part. 

Good thing he’d picked the farthest corner. Otherwise, someone might’ve actually noticed. 

But people always want more. 

At first, just seeing her from a distance was enough for him. 

Then he found himself wanting to hear her voice.

But after a while, even that didn’t satisfy him. 

He wanted to be closer. Closer still. 

So for the second class, Cassian sat five rows closer to the front. 

He still stuck to the side, though, just so he wouldn’t catch Aurelia’s eye. 

This time, he went all out with his disguise, and even brought a notebook, just to look the part. 

But by the end of the class, he’d ended up scribbling Aurelia’s name all over the pages. 

Not a single word about the actual class material. 

Good thing the guy next to him wasn’t much of a gossip. He never noticed Cassian’s little secret.

Maybe it was because he hadn’t been caught the first two times, but for the third class, Cassian got bolder and moved up another five rows. 

With only twenty rows in the whole lecture hall, he was now sitting squarely in the middle. 

His seat might not have drawn attention, but his getup was pretty conspicuous. 

During the lecture, Aurelia couldn’t help but glance in his direction several times. 

Cassian had never felt this jittery before. 

‘Man, it really felt like the teacher was about to 

catch me red–handed, he thought. 

He was on pins and needles the whole class, just trying to survive until the end, and right when he thought he was in the clear, Aurelia started picking students at random to answer questions. 

At first, she was just calling names like normal, but when she hit the seventh question, she suddenly stopped, looked around, and called out, “You, on the far end of the tenth row, the guy with the hat. Stand up and answer my question.” 

Cassian just sat there, spaced out, frozen in place and not getting up. 

It wasn’t until the guy next to him nudged him that Cassian finally stood up, awkwardly realizing he’d been called on. 

Cassian was on his feet, but he had zero idea what Aurelia had just asked. 

He’d been too busy staring at her the whole time. 

“What’s the matter? Can’t answer? This question is pretty simple Were you even paying attention?” Aurelia tapped her fingers rhythmically on the lectern, her tone steady but with unmistakable authority. 

One of the students next to him tried to help out, whispering the answer. 

But Cassian didn’t dare say a word. 

If he spoke up, Aurelia would instantly know it was him, and his whole cover would be blown. 

Just in the nick of time, the bell rang. 

Aurelia looked away, going back to her usual relaxed tone. “Alright, that’s it for today. Class dismissed.” 

Cassian had just barely dodged a bullet. 

But he knew he couldn’t risk coming back to her classes anymore.

When Cassian met up with Jasper for dinner, he was clearly not himself. 

After Jasper kept pressing him, Cassian finally spilled the beans. 

Jasper felt pretty bummed out after hearing the reason. 

I just got a week to chill, and now I’m back to walking on eggshells again?‘ Jasper thought to himself. 

“Cassian, why not just be upfront? Even if you guys can’t be together, you could still be friends, right? Friends hanging out is totally normal!” Jasper said. 

Jasper just couldn’t wrap his head around it. 

Cassian was quiet for a long time before finally saying, “We just can’t be friends.” 

“She told me straight up. She hates me.” 

“She even said, if she was locked in a room with me and some random terrorist, and had two bullets, she’d shoot me twice.” 

Jasper just stared, speechless. “Damn, she really hates you.” 

When he first heard Aurelia say that, he felt pretty crushed. 

But at the same time, he was oddly relieved she hated him. 

Because that way, she’d finally give up on him. 

And draw a clear line between them once and for all. 

Letting go of hate is way easier than letting go of love.
