“Remember when I told you I cut my hand with a knife? That was a lie,” Miranda confessed, sounding embarrassed. “Mr. Locke said he couldn’t keep making those nutritious meals for you, so he made me start learning how to cook them myself.” 

Honestly, Miranda couldn’t help but think how rough she had it back then. 

She was grinding away at Regal Investment all day, and after work, she’d have to drag herself over to Cassian’s place just to get bossed around while learning to cook those meals. 

For someone who’d never even touched a frying pan before, it was pure torture. 

She nearly chopped off her fingers more than once. 

The worst part was that Cassian was hardcore about it. Every single dish had to taste exactly like his, no exceptions. 

She was about to go crazy from all that cooking practice. 

The good thing was that Mr. Locke paid her a ton, or she never would’ve made it through. 

Otherwise, she honestly would’ve quit ages ago. 

After Miranda finished talking, the car went dead silent.

She honestly had no idea what to say. Her mind was a total mess. 

She still had no clue what Cassian was really after with all this.

Maybe it was just guilt eating at him, and he was trying to make up for it in his own way. 

But what he never realized was that she absolutely didn’t need any of it. 

It was all for nothing, completely pointless. 

Just like those seven years she devoted to him. In the end, none of it ever mattered. 

Before Aurelia even got home, her phone rang. it was Mia. 

The background was so loud, it sounded like she was partying at some bar. 

Mia shouted over the noise, “Aurelia, are you back in Ashmont? you are, come join me! I’m at Lucky Seven Club!”

“I got in this morning,” Jessica replied. “I knew you were out of town, so I didn’t bother you. Didn’t expect you to be back already.” 

Aurelia said. “I just came straight from the airport, came here to meet a friend.” 

Jessica grinned. “Well, since you’re already here, why not have a drink with me?” 

Jessica was a partner at Regal Investment and had helped Aurelia out a ton when she was just starting her business. 

Honestly, even if Jessica hadn’t brought it up, Aurelia would’ve insisted on playing the host anywa

Just then, Aurelia’s phone rang. It was Ella, probably wondering why she still wasn’t home.

Just as she left, a couple locked together tumbled out of the cramped storage room downstairs. 

The guy’s hands were everywhere, his mouth busy at her chest. 

But the woman’s mind was already miles away. 

She narrowed her eyes, tilting her head to glare at the spot where Aurelia had just been, her gaze sharp as poison. 

‘Aurelia!‘ she thought, her eyes flashing with venom. 

‘Here we meet again… Can’t believe it’s you, always showing up where I least expect!
