Chapter 377 

Five minutes later, Cassian had boarded a speedboat bound for Coconut Breeze Island. 

The sun was setting, its last golden rays slipping away over the ocean horizon.

But the sky didn’t fall into darkness right away. Instead, a mesmerizing afterglow lingered, making Aurelia’s heart flutter. 

It was a beauty so pure, it felt almost unreal. 

Aurelia’s cruise ship drifted past Kissing Island. She happened to be out on the deck, so she snapped a quick photo and sent t to Mia. 

Mia replied: [It really does look like kissing fish! But I bet the island owners from Aurathen. Those look like Aurathenian nitials.] 

Aurelia looked closer and realized Mia was right. 

On the bridge connecting the two islands, there was a sculpture made of pure white sand, formed into the letters KS. 

Kiss?‘ Aurelia thought. 

For some reason, her heart skipped a beat. 

Aurelia shook her head. 

She let out a soft laugh at herself. 

Seriously, what a random idea,’ she thought, amused by how quickly her mind had wandered. 

Mia asked: [Are you heading back to Ashmont or just going straight to Grendel?] 

[I’m going straight to Grendel. Joey’s already there, so I’ll catch up with her.] Aurelia replied, 

[Alright, stay safe. Text me when you get there.] Mia replied. 

Meanwhile, Cassian’s speedboat was almost at Coconut Breeze Island, and he looked more anxious than he’d ever been before. 

Only Jasper glanced back at Kissing Island, finally voicing the question that had been bothering him for ages. “Cassian, why’d you name the island Kissing Island?” 

“It’s kind of a weird name, honestly,” Jasper muttered. 

Cassian still didn’t answer. 

‘Guess Cassian’s mind is all on Aurelia right now. He probably didn’t even catch my question, Jasper thought 

It wasn’t until Jasper sported the sculpture that it suddenly hit him 

‘Hold on, so Kiss Island is really just Aurelia’s Island? Jasper thought, his eyes widening as the meaning clicked. 

‘And ExtremTech…that’s a nod to Aurelia too, isn’t it?‘ he wondered, finally connecting the dots. 

‘Man, every time he has to name something, it’s always Aurelia on his mind,‘ Jasper realized, a bit taken aback

Chapter 377 

Jasper just stood there, totally lost for words now that he’d uncovered the truth. 

‘Seriously, how did I never realize Cassian was so lovesick?‘ Jasper thought, honestly baffled. 

Cassian rushed over to Coconut Breeze Island faster than anyone could blink.

He got the name of the hotel where Aurelia was staying from the resort staff, and when he arrived, he happened to run into 

Mia. 

Zane had taken Aurelia to the airport, so Mia was the only one left on the island. 

She was stretched out in the hotel’s beachside garden, sipping juice and enjoying the sea breeze, just soaking up the chill 

vibes. 

But Cassian crashed Mia’s rare moment of relaxation, barging in out of nowhere. 

When Mia spotted Cassian, she did a double–take, thinking, ‘No way, am I seeing things?‘ 

“Where’s Aurelia?” Cassian demanded, his tone urgent and his expression anxious. 

Mia raised an eyebrow. 

‘Guess he figured out Aurelia was here and came all the way to find her, Mia thought. 

But he was too late. 

“She’s gone,” Mia said, straight to the point. 

“Where’d she go?” Cassian demanded, clearly anxious. 

Mia shrugged, “Back to Ashmont.” 

She teased, “You missed her by a hair. She just left.” 

Cassian didn’t hesitate. He turned and ordered, “Take me to the nearest airport!” 

Jasper had just caught up, barely had time to catch his breath, when Cassian grabbed him and pulled him along without a 

pause. 

‘Next life, I’m never hanging out with someone whose brain is all about romance again,‘ Jasper thought to himself with a sigh. 

As soon as Cassian left, Mia texted Aurelia, “Hey, babe, are you boarding yet?” 

“Not yet, still got half an hour,” Aurelia replied. “What’s up?” 

Mia did a quick mental math and figured Cassian was probably gonna miss her. 

She grinned and texted Aurelia, “No worries, just wishing you a smooth trip!” 

“That lovesick dog wants to see Aurelia?‘ Mia thought, amused. 

‘Not a chance!‘ 

‘I’ll lock every door and window on him, no way he’s getting through! Mia thought, grinning to herself.

Chapter 377 

When Cassian got to the airport, he made a beeline for the gate to Ashmont.

Even though he rushed like crazy, he still didn’t make it in time. The staff informed him that the plane had already left five minutes ago. 

Jasper pulled out his phone to check the flights, still trying to comfort Cassian. “Hey, no worries, man. There’s another flight in two hours. Once you’re back in Ashmont, you’ll both be in the same city. Plenty of chances to catch up, right? No rush, you’ve got all the time in the world.” 

‘I don’t want to wait even a second longer,” Cassian shot back, his voice tense. 

Jasper blinked, totally speechless. 

Yeah, forget I said anything,‘ Jasper thought, silently regretting opening his mouth. 

As they bought their tickets and headed toward security, the announcement for the Grendel flight came over the speakers. 

Cassian hesitated for a second. 

asper glanced at him. “Something wrong?” 

Cassian shook his head. “Nothing. Let’s go.”

Darren personally came to meet Aurelia at the airport, which took her by surprise. 

Darren explained that he’d just returned to Grendel himself, and since he knew she was arriving, he decided to stop by and ›ick her up. 

On the way back to the manor, Darren asked about InquireMind. 

He said that recently, a middleman had tried to introduce him to the head of InquireMind. 

It’s nothing, things just naturally drift apart over time,” Aurelia said, sounding totally unfazed. 

If even relationships between people are just a phase, then partnerships are even more fleeting, Aurelia thought to herself. 

Seeing that Aurelia seemed pretty chill about it, Darren didn’t press any further. 

Of course, Darren had already put the word out. InquireMind wouldn’t be getting anywhere in Grendel. 

If the folks at InquireMind had any sense and could read the situation, they wouldn’t even think about making another 

move. 

Of course, there were times when things were beyond control. 

As long as Aurelia’s got her guard up, she’ll be good. 

As soon as they pulled up to the Keith family estate, Darren’s phone rang 

He picked up, and his face fell. He just said, “I’ll be right there.” 

“I was planning to have dinner with you, but it looks like I owe you one now, Darren said, sounding genuinely apologetic. 

“It’s fine, go take care of your business, Aurelia replied, not bothered at all,

Chapter 377 

After saying goodbye to Darren, Aurelia went to catch up with Joey.

Joey knew Aurelia was coming, so she made sure to stay awake and waited up for her, then kept her company for dinner. 

That night, Joey came over to Aurelia’s room, pillow in hand, just like always. 

Aurelia patted the spot next to her on the bed. “Come on, sleep with me.” 

Joey happily cuddled up next to her, wrapped her arms around Aurelia’s waist, and took in her scent. It made her feel completely safe and content. 

They chatted for a while, and when it was getting close to midnight, Joey finally got sleepy. 

Joey was half–asleep when she caught a faint sound coming from downstairs. 

It was Darren returning home. 

Aurelia asked Joey, “Do you want to go say hi to your dad?” 

Joey shook her head. “It’s already late. If I go down, he’ll just think I’m having trouble sleeping again and start worrying.” 

Joey’s pretty thoughtful for someone her age, Aurelia thought, feeling a bit proud of her. 

Once things quieted down outside, Joey burrowed into Aurelia’s arms and murmured, “Dad’s never stopped missing Mom all these years. I’ve seen him just sit there, lost in thought, staring at her photo. Sometimes he’ll stay like that the whole day.” 

Aurelia remembered how, before Zofia passed away, she specifically instructed that everything of hers–photos, her wedding ring, all of it–be burned after she was gone. 

She was just worried Darren would be haunted by memories if anything was left behind. 

Joey added, “It’s a photo of Mom at a charity gala. Dad keeps a whole bunch of her pictures tucked away in his safe.” 

Aurelia couldn’t help but sigh. 

‘Letting go isn’t that easy, she thought. 

‘Even if you burn it all, memories never really disappear,‘ Aurelia thought. 

Joey drifted off to sleep, but Aurelia was left wide awake, unable to catch a wink. 

Maybe it was the jet lag, or maybe something else was weighing on her mind, but either way, Aurelia lay awake for ages, unable to drift off no matter how hard she tried. 

In the end, Aurelia gave up on sleep and just texted Mia, telling her about Darren. 

Mia let out a sigh. [If I were him, I don’t think I could ever move on either. Honestly, I’d rather be unloved than have to say goodbye forever.] 

The pain of losing someone to death was that it was truly forever.
