After the kids finished giving their gifts, more people came over to toast Aurelia.

Aurelia spotted a familiar face in the crowd.

The man looked visibly uncomfortable as he spoke to her.

“Ms. Corin, it’s been a long time,” he said.

“It has been a while, Mr. Morgan,” Aurelia replied politely.

She remembered Caleb because she’d suffered at his hands before.

Back then, she was still Cassian’s secretary.

Aurelia had made several attempts to secure resources for Honoria Capital by persuading him.

So he figured, why not go for broke? He tried to force himself on her during a business event, taking advantage of the chaos.

Even luckier, someone was chilling by the lake and pulled her out of the water. She couldn’t swim to save her life.

Aurelia was so furious that she almost called the police right then and there.

But as her thumb hovered over the call button, she hesitated.

But Mia didn’t pick up.

Maybe she was busy.

Aurelia just shot her a quick text and then flopped onto the bed.

She’d been drunk before, but it had never felt like this.

Her whole body felt limp, as if she had no bones left. She couldn’t even muster the strength to get out of bed

The last shred of sanity in her mind made her realize something was seriously wrong.
