Aurelia took Miranda on a tour of the studio, wanting her to understand the company’s current situation. 

She also hoped Miranda would realize the challenges and decide to back out. 

After all, the benefits Aurelia could offer were nowhere near what Honoria Capital provided. 

But Miranda was determined on joining Aurelia and didn’t care about the pay at all. 

She even started hyping herself up, “Aurelia, I know what you’re capable of. You’re a total rising star. You’re definitely going to make it big! So I need to latch onto you now, or else I’ll be stuck in line later!” 

Aurelia grinned at her antics. “Okay, you’re in! You can come to work on Monday.” 

Before Monday even arrived, Tyson came in with some great news. 

He and his team had completed the very first prototype. 

Aurelia could finally relax–the knot in her chest was gone at last 

“Thanks, everyone. You’ve really given it your all,” Aurelia said. 

She checked the time–it was already after nine, and it was the weekend. 

Yet here they were, still working overtime in the studio; it was really tough on them. 

So as soon as Aurelia got home, she turned right back and went out again, planning to buy some snacks and treats to reward Tyson and the others. 

Not many bakeries were still open at this hour. 

But Aurelia was a pro at this from her days at Honoria Capital–she knew exactly where to go and which shops would still be serving this late. 

She’d only picked up this intuition after making the rounds of nearly every bakery in Ashmont back then. 

So she strolled right into one of the last open bakeries, about to put in her order, when she suddenly bumped into a familiar face she hadn’t seen in forever. 

It was Wesley. 

He was Cassian’s driver. 

Wesley looked just as surprised to see her. “Ms. Corin, long time no see!” 

“Wesley, I’ve already quit,” Aurelia reminded him with a smile. 

Wesley looked a little embarrassed. “Old habits die hard, I guess.” 

Chapter 61

Aurelia didn’t think much of it, just found herself wondering what brought Wesley to a bakery at this hour. 

“Wesley, I thought you were watching your sugar! What are you doing buying cake so late? Seriously, you gotta take care of yourself,” Aurelia teased. 

Wesley quickly explained, “It’s not for me. Mr. Locke asked me to get it.” 

Aurelia frowned. 

Cassian never liked sweets. This cake was most likely for Tessa. 

“By the way, Ms. Corin, do you know any bakeries I can count on? I’ve been all over Ashmont lately, but I still can’t find a cake that Mr. Locke actually likes,” Wesley said. 

He was at his wit’s end, and since Aurelia used to handle all this stuff, he figured she’d be the one to ask. 

After all, Aurelia knew exactly what Cassian liked. 

She was the one to ask. 

Aurelia was genuinely taken aback by Wesley’s words. 

‘Is Cassian really gone to such lengths all for Tessa?‘ Aurelia wondered. 

‘What’s he doing making Wesley, who’s already past fifty, run errands for him at this hour?‘ 

‘Tessa’s his lover, not Wesley’s! Why rope the poor guy into this?‘ Aurelia grumbled internally. ‘Not a bit of sincerity!‘ 

“I’ll write it down for you,” Aurelia said, unable to refuse Wesley. She quickly wrote out the recipe she used to make for Cassian. 

Although she hadn’t made a cake in a long time, the recipe and proportions were already etched in her mind, and she wrote them down smoothly. 

“Just take this recipe to Ms. Jinn at Moonlit Bakery and have her make it for you,” Aurelia told him. 

Wesley was super grateful. “Ms. Corin, you’re a lifesaver!” 

“No big deal. Don’t mention it,” Aurelia said with a grin. 

With that sorted, Aurelia left him to it and went about her own business. 

When she stepped out with all the snacks, she noticed Wesley was still waiting outside. 

He came right over when he saw her. “Ms. Corin, it’s getting late. Let me take you home.” 

“It’s fine, I can just call a cab,” Aurelia replied. 

But Wesley insisted, “It’s inconvenient for you to take a cab with so many things. And with this wind, you’ll freeze waiting out here. Let me drive you home–don’t risk getting sick.” 

Chapter 61 

Aurelia couldn’t refuse his kindness, so she had no choice but to get into the car. 

The heating in the car was very good, dispelling a lot of cold air. 

A familiar wooden male fragrance surrounded her together with the heater. 

Aurelia frowned. ‘Why does it smell like Cassian in here?‘ 

Then she remembered–this was his car, so of course it smelled like him. 

She almost forgot she was just a passenger here. 

Luckily, she didn’t smell anything else, like woman perfume or anything. 

Wesley asked where she wanted to go, and Aurelia gave him her address. 

“You’re still as hardworking as before, Ms. Corin.” Wesley said, a hint of admiration in his voice. 

“Maybe I’m just naturally suited to work like a horse.” Aurelia said with a wry grin. 

The ride was short–they barely had time for small talk before pulling up to her building. 

Wesley got out and helped gather all the treats she’d just bought from the trunk.

Before getting out of the car, Aurelia reached up and took down the safety charm dangling from the rearview mirror. 

She’d once climbed ninety–nine steps up to a church and knelt to pray for Cassian, just to get this charm for him. 

But when she handed it over, he only scoffed and said, “You’re so superstitious. I don’t believe in that sort of thing.” 

Honestly, Aurelia never used to buy into all that superstition either. 

It was that time when Cassian had a car accident–he walked away with just a few scrapes, but the car was almost completely wrecked. 

When Aurelia rushed to the scene, her heart was pounding out of her chest. 

For days after, she was constantly by his side, worrying about him, and often dreamed of him having an accident. 

‘She’d never really believed in fate, or any higher powers. but seeing him lying in that hospital bed, she couldn’t help but wish for a miracle. 

She still went to the church, kneeling step by step, praying for the gods‘ protection. 

Simply because she had someone she cared about. 

Now, she wanted to take back that feeling. 

Chapter 61 

If sincere feelings didn’t carn sincerity in return, then she’d give them to someone else.

Aurelia had always believed in Tyson’s talent, and the results proved her judgment was spot on. 

Even this first lightweight prototype was seriously smooth to use. 

This gave her a huge boost of confidence. 

“You’ve all worked so hard lately–let’s give everybody a vacation,” Aurelia said. 

“You’re the best, Aurelia!” 

The whole crew erupted in cheers. 

Originally, they all called her “Ms. Corin“, but Aurelia felt that was too distant, so she asked them to call her “Aurelia” to bring them closer together, even though some of them were actually older than her. 

“You take a break too,” she said, specifically pointing to Tyson. 

“No, I can’t. I still need to handle the follow–up maintenance and adjustments.” 

“But you haven’t taken a break in a long time.” 

“I can handle it,” Tyson said firmly. 

Aurelia couldn’t convince him, so she let it go. 

After everyone else had left, Tyson brought up something else with her. 

“Last week, my mentor called and told me that there’s going to be an AI Technology Leaders Summit and AGI Innovation & Global Expansion Forum in Vireston. They’re inviting AI experts from all over the world, which means there will be tons of opportunities there.” 

Aurelia’s mind stirred, “Wait, are you saying we should show up too?” 

“If we could go, it would be great for the whole project. The problem is… we don’t have an invitation.” 

Honestly, they’d only just released their first product; in this field, they were total unknowns. No way anyone’s sending them an official invitation. 

“Leave it to me,” Aurelia said, her tone calm but determined. 

She asked around and found that the invitation letter for this summit was very tight, and it was not too much to describe it as hard to buy. 

A person or company that lacked strength and qualifications was not qualified to participate. 

Jessica leaned in and said, “Why don’t you just ask Mr. Locke?”
