Chapter 83

Just as Aurelia had expected, their trip to Vireston was a huge success. They stayed an extra day, joining Russell to meet a bunch of big shots and entrepreneurs in the industry.

Several promising partners reached out to them, showing genuine interest in working together. But partnerships don’t happen overnight. They’d take it slow and keep the conversation going. At least now, Aurelia didn’t have to worry about funding anymore.

Gideon had already gone back a day before the others. Knowing Aurelia was flying in the next day, he called her early in the morning to ask what time her flight would land in Ashmont.

Aurelia figured he was just asking out of curiosity, so she told him. She never expected him to show up at the airport to pick her up in person. Aurelia felt a little embarrassed, thinking she was troubling him.

Everyone wants you these days. Of course, I gotta keep an eye on you. If someone snatches you away, how am I supposed to meet my targets?Gideon said, halfjoking.

She thought he was being dramatic.

Just wait, you’ll see if I’m being dramatic in just a moment,” Gideon said with certainty.

And that just a momentreally was just a moment. Miranda called Aurelia before she even got to the studio, saying the place had already been swarmed by people that morning, all wanting to see her. Graham was hands down the most eager of

the bunch.

He’d dropped by twice just yesterday, and today, he was the first to show up. He even treated the whole studio to coffee, really putting his sincerity on display.

Aurelia thought being so popular was actually kind of a headache. Dealing with all these people was no big deal for her, but she worried that having so many visitors around would end up disrupting the team’s work.

For now, there was something else she really needed to handle. She needed to lease an office space. Back when she was trying to save money, she’d just asked Tyson for a desk to use as a makeshift office.

At that time, no one was interested in investing in her project, so no one ever came to the studio looking for her, and it didn’t bother anyone else, but things were different now.

She had to think about the work environment for everyone else. Plus, she’d definitely be negotiating partnerships with other companies soon, and not having a proper office would be pretty unprofessional.

Aurelia was all about getting things done. Once she made up her mind, she jumped right into action. She switched gears and decided to skip the studio, heading straight to a realtor instead. She told Gideon to just drop her off anywhere he could park by the side of the road.

Aurelia, do you think I’m the kind of guy with zero manners?Gideon chuckled, teasing her.

Aurelia said, I just don’t want to mess up your

schedule.”

He’s the CEO of Gold Gauntlet, he’s got way more on his plate than I do, Aurelia thought.

Gideon waved it off, saying he wasn’t busy at all. Besides, now that she was a major client for Gold Gauntlet, meeting up with her counted as work. Aurelia accepted that explanation.

But Tyson knew there was more going on than that. Being a guy himself, he wasn’t fooled by those little games men play. So Tyson ended up getting dropped off by the curb to catch a cab to the studio, while Gideon went with Aurelia to meet the realtor.

After spending the whole afternoon looking, Aurelia concluded. Finding the right office was just as tricky as picking at husband. Location had to be prime, commute convenient, and the price had to be right.

Even though she wasn’t strapped for cash anymore, Aurelia still believed in spending smart. That was just how Aurelia always did things.

After having Gideon help her out all afternoon, Aurelia decided to treat him to dinner to say thanks. They chose a restaurant close by, but as soon as they walked in, they bumped into some familiar faces.

This time, Cassian wasn’t around. Only Jasper and Tessa were there. Surprisingly, Jasper didn’t start anything when he saw Aurelia; he was actually pretty chill for once.

One could never tell if Jasper was really acting chill or just faking it. Tessa asked directly, Since we bumped into you guys, want to join us?”

She clearly ignored Aurelia and only spoke to Gideon. Gideon stuck to his usual response, Well, you guys go ahead. Aurelia and I have some work to discuss.”

Tessa just nodded and went off to the private room with Jasper. Could Gideon really be into Aurelia?Jasper said, a hint of bitterness in his heart as he stepped into the private room. As soon as Jasper walked in, he couldn’t help but mutter under his breath, sounding a little resentful.

Tessa replied calmly and with absolute certainty, Definitely not.”

Why?Jasper asked.

Jasper wasn’t taking it well at all. If Aurelia and Gideon really got together, it would mean he’d have to start thinking of her in that awkward family way. Just imagining it made him want to gag.

Trust me, Gideon would never fall for her,Tessa said, sounding sure of herself.

She knew exactly why. Gideon was holding onto someone in his heart. And he kept that secret locked up tight.

Even after six years together, she still had no idea who it was, not even a name. That just showed how deep Gideon kept his feelings buried, so deep, nobody could even guess.

As for Aurelia, Tessa snorted with obvious disdain. She figured Aurelia was probably just another girl Gideon was messing around with, nothing more.

Honestly, Tessa was totally fine with that. That way, it would completely kill off any chance of Aurelia and Cassian ever happening. Plus, Aurelia would just end up getting used and tossed aside for nothing.

Once Gideon got bored and dumped her, Aurelia would be the laughingstock of Ashmont from then on. No family in Ashmont’s high society would ever let her through their doors again.

The thought of all this instantly swept away all the frustration Tessa had been feeling these past few days. Tessa used the dinner as a chance to ask Jasper about what’s been going on at Gold Gauntlet lately.

I’ve heard my dad mention that project before, but ever since Gideon came back and restructured everything at Gold Gauntlet, he took back control of a bunch of projects. My dad doesn’t have any say in them anymore,Jasper explained.

Tessa didn’t dig any deeper. After all, these were company secrets. Ask too much, and Jasper might start wondering what she was really after.

So she just shrugged it off, saying, I’m just asking out of curiosity. I heard some folks talking about it over dinner, and they said it’s a solid project, you basically can’t lose money on it.”

As soon as Jasper heard it was guaranteed easy money, his eyes lit right up. I’ll see what I can find out and give you the inside scoop as soon as I hear anything! If there’s cash to be made, we’ll all get a piece of the pie!Jasper said, grinning.

Early the next morning. Aurelia got a call from the realtor, saying they’d found an awesome spot that checked all her boxes She didn’t even have time for breakfast before rushing over.

Just like the realtor promised, it was spot on. Totally matched what she wanted. And the rent was a steal.

Why didn’t you tell me about this yesterday?Aurelia couldn’t help but ask, confused.

The realtor explained, It just got listed, so I called you the second I saw it.”

Aurelia was really happy with the place. She went through every room carefully. The decor looks really new,she said.

She was actually downplaying it a bit. Honestly, it looked like everything was practically untouched, almost as if no one had ever lived here. And the style and layout were exactly what she wanted, which meant she wouldn’t have to spend a fortune on renovations.

The realtor explained that the previous tenant had been setting it up as an office as well. They had fixed the place up, but then went bankrupt. Now it was being offered for cheap, just hoping to recover a little of what they had lost.

Bankrupt, huh? That’s kind of a bad sign,Aurelia said, sounding a little skeptical.

The realtor felt a jolt of nerves. Tell you what, boss. I’ll knock off six months of rent and maintenance fees. Plus, with your vibe, you’re basically a magnet for good fortune. Nothing unlucky’s ever gonna stick around with you in charge!”

Honestly, Aurelia was just saying that to fish for a better deal. But she never expected the realtor to cave so easily and just waive six months of rent.

Now that’s what I call good luck!Aurelia thought, a satisfied grin spreading across her face. She signed the lease on the spot.

With the keys in hand, Aurelia stood before the office’s floortoceiling windows, her heart buzzing with exhilaration. Finally, she had her own company; her dream was finally real.
