Chapter 95 

Breon chimed in, “Yeah, Aurelia, wanna join us?” 

Aurelia politely declined, “No, thanks. I’ve got plans.” 

“Alright, I won’t be the third wheel. Let’s save this meal for next time,” Breon said, taking the hint. 

Cassian and Tessa didn’t try to stop him. 

He probably really did have a date lined up. 

Aurelia, on the other hand, was just making up an excuse. 

Honestly, she just didn’t want to eat with those two. She was worried they’d kill her appetite. 

As soon as Aurelia left Honoria Capital, her phone lit up with a call from Liam. 

She saw it, but didn’t pick up. 

She just didn’t feel like answering. 

These past few days, Liam had been calling her pretty much every day. 

She didn’t pick up any of his calls. 

But if it was his father calling, she’d always answer. 

That really frustrated Liam. 

Liam really wanted to team up with Aurelia, but she just kept shutting him out. 

And his father was pressuring him relentlessly. 

He was terrified that some other car company would snatch this opportunity right out from under them. 

The smart car market was evolving at lightning speed. Even a single day’s delay could mean losing the edge. 

So Liam was getting pretty anxious. 

After his call got ignored again, Liam frustratedly dropped a message in the group chat. 

[Everyone, I made a woman angry. How can I make it up to her?]

Jasper shot back right away, [Bro, how can you even ask that? You’re supposed to be our legendary playboy. I can’t believe you can’t even win over a girl!] 

Liam replied, [It’s different this time. She’s on a whole different level. All my usual moves are useless to her.] 

[Whoa, you’ve got someone special?] Jasper said, raising an eyebrow. 

[Man, why does everyone have someone to crush? Gideon’s got his mystery girl, you’ve got yours, and here I am, totally single. Maybe I should go light a candle at the matchmaker’s shrine or something. At this point, I’d settle for even a messy fling!] 

No one in the group paid any attention to Jasper’s chatter. 

Liam tagged Cassian and asked, [Cassian, any advice?]

Cassian was having dinner with Tessa when he saw the message. He replied, [If she’s into money, give her cash. If she’s into romance, send her flowers.] 

[Tessa, is Cassian always this upfront?] Jasper had to tag Tessa, unable to hold back. 

Tessa replied, [Cassian’s already given both.] 

Jasper groaned, [Why do I even bother torturing myself?] 

Liam didn’t say anything else after that. 

The next day, right as Aurelia stepped into the office, there was a courier waiting at the entrance with a massive bouquet of sunflowers for her. 

Liam picked sunflowers because he was reminded of a photo he’d seen recently. 

In that picture, Gideon had sent Aurelia sunflowers. 

She’d been grinning from ear to ear, and Liam couldn’t get that smile out of his head. 

So when he was placing the order, that smile flashed through his mind, and without even thinking, he found himself choosing sunflowers. 

Miranda asked curiously, “Aurelia, is there someone special?” 

Aurelia looked through the bouquet, but couldn’t find a card or anything. 

She asked the delivery guy, but he just shrugged and said he didn’t know either. 

Still confused, Aurelia saw a message from Liam pop up on her phone. 

Figuring she wouldn’t answer his call, he’d shot her a text instead. 

He wanted to know if she’d received the flowers. and if she liked them. 

Aurelia replied ten minutes later. 

[Go ask the trash can downstairs. It probably knows everything you want to know.] She shot back. 

Liam was at loss of words. 

‘How did I never notice Aurelia had this much attitude?‘ Liam thought, genuinely surprised. 

In his mind, Aurelia was soft and easy to handle. 

Apart from being good–looking, she was good for nothing. 

Just a pretty face, nothing more. 

He honestly couldn’t understand why Cassian had her by his side for seven whole years. 

No matter how good the dish was, after seven years, one’d get tired of it eventually. 

So when Cassian chose to be with Tessa, Liam figured it made perfect sense. 

After all, Tessa was more accomplished than Aurelia, and she came from a good family too. 

She just fit Cassian better. 

 

 

But now, Liam couldn’t help but regret all those old prejudices. 

‘Crazy how life flips the script, Liam mused, feeling a mix of regret and irony.

The flowers landed in the trash, his calls went straight to voicemail. So, in the end, Liam had to go hunt her down himself. 

Just as he got to the entrance of Regal Investment Tower, Jasper tagged everyone in the group chat, asking what they were doing tonight. 

After all, it was New Year’s Eve, a very special day. 

Then he made a point to leave out Cassian and Tessa, saying, [Cassian, Tessa, you two don’t even need to answer. On a night like this, you’re obviously spending it together!] 

Tessa sent a covering–mouth emoji, which pretty much meant she agreed. 

Cassian didn’t reply. 

Gideon replied, [Got plans. You’re on your own tonight.] 

Jasper asked what he was up to, but Gideon just left him hanging. 

Less than two minutes later, Liam replied, [Got plans. You’re on your own.] 

Jasper was stunned. 

‘So I’m the only one flying solo tonight?‘ He thought, feeling totally left out. 

[Seriously, does everyone have someone special now?] Jasper couldn’t help but ask. 

But no one replied, leaving him all alone, just stewing in his own misery. 

Meanwhile, just as Liam finished replying to Jasper, he spotted Gideon. 

He thought about it for a second, then figured he might as well go say hi. 

“You here to see Aurelia?” Liam asked Gideon. 

“Yeah,” Gideon shot him a look. “You here for her too?” 

“Small world, I am,” Liam replied. 

He paused, then explained, “I’m here to talk business, about a partnership.” 

Gideon shrugged. “I invested in InquireMind, so I’m here to discuss work too.” 

“Let’s go together, then,” Liam said. 

So the two of them headed upstairs together to find Aurelia. 

Aurelia was in a meeting, so Miranda showed them in and took care of the introductions. 

Liam looked at Miranda and asked, “Weren’t you with Honoria Capital? Why’d you switch over to here?” 

“Had enough, so I resigned,” Miranda said with a shrug. 

Liam just couldn’t get it. ‘Seriously, who leaves a big firm for a tiny startup?‘ 

Before Aurelia could finish her meeting, Mila showed up.

With the New Year’s holiday, she’d come by to hang out with Aurelia. 

But the moment she stepped inside, she spotted two guys, both insisting they were there for Aurelia. 

She recognized one of them. She’d seen him before at a group dinner

Back then, from the way he looked at Aurelia, she felt something was wrong. Her mind went on high alert, and she quickly figured out he was her brother’s romantic rival. 

So she slid out of the way in a flash, worried he’d get too close to Aurelia and something would spark between them. 

‘No way, he actually tracked her down!‘ Mila thought, totally floored. 

‘Guess it’s time for me to jump in again!‘ she told herself, gearing up to play interference. 

When Aurelia finished her meeting and came out, she saw the two were already waiting for her. 

“Sorry for the wait, I was a bit busy,” she apologized with a quick smile. 

Since they were guests, Aurelia made sure to be extra polite to Liam. 

Liam jumped in, “We didn’t wait long at all, right, Gideon?” 

Gideon just nodded. 

“Liam, what brings you here?” Aurelia asked, turning to him first. 

She figured Gideon was probably just here to check on the project’s progress. 

“It’s about the partnership,” Liam replied. “I’m really interested in the concept of ‘Full–Domain Al‘ you brought up last time. I’d like to discuss it in more detail with you, Aurelia.” 

Liam actually showed up looking genuinely serious about this. 

Indeed, Aurelia had been giving Liam the cold shoulder, but it wasn’t all about holding a grudge. 

She knew Liam well enough. If he wasn’t truly committed, a little freeze–out would’ve sent him packing ages ago. 

So she had to figure out if Liam was here because he actually wanted to work with her, or he was just doing what his father 

told him. 

If it was just his father pulling the strings, she didn’t need to waste her time. 

But now, it was obvious. Liam genuinely wanted to work with InquireMind. 

So Aurelia wasn’t as guarded around him as she used to be. 

“It’s getting late. Maybe we can catch up another time and go over the details?” Aurelia suggested, glancing at Liam. 

Liam paused for a second, then teased, “Do you have a date tonight, Aurelia?” 

It was New Year’s Eve, after all. Most couples would be out on dates. 

Gideon shot her a look too, clearly wanting to know the answer as much as Liam did.
