Only ten minutes were left before the ceremony started. Julian looked all over the back hall, but he still couldn’t find anyone from the Ross family. His gut told him that Mr. and Mrs. Ross and Shelly probably weren’t coming.
As that thought hit him, Julian’s already frantic heart began to beat even faster, almost jumping out of his chest. It was followed by a wave of annoyance and panic.
Cotton sensed his anxiety and scoffed in his mind.“What are you worried about? Isn’t this what you’ve always wanted?”
“Of course, it is! But…” Julian stopped mid–sentence, his heart pounding even harder.
His wolf really liked Shelly. If it weren’t for Cotton, he wouldn’t have been with her for so long. He always thought Cotton had bad taste for being drawn to a Beta. But he couldn’t deny that when he was with Shelly, he felt a sense of satisfaction and happiness. After all, it was a bond given by the Moon Goddess herself; they truly were a perfect match.
But now, he was about to marry his first love, and he felt hesitant.
Did he really… dislike Shelly?
Cotton kept mocking his hesitation, as if he were a confused pup. Julian ignored his wolf’s words. He took out his phone, his face anxious as he tapped through his contacts and his chats.
A few minutes later, the best man told him to get ready backstage. He finally made up his mind, rushing to the venue while calling Mr. Ross. A minute later, he heard a loud, booming voice.
Julian, isn’t your mating ceremony about to start? Why are you calling Mr. Ross?”
Hearing the sound of waves in the background, Julian’s heart sank. He forced a smile. “Exactly because of the ceremony. I was wondering if you and Mrs. Ross would be able to make it.”
‘Sorry, Julian. Our family is on a trip, so we can’t be there. I wish you and Grace a happy marriage and a hundred years of harmony.”
They were words of blessing, but to Julian, they tasted like ash. He raised his hand to check the time, saying something he barely understood himself. That’s okay, but are you at the beach? You can drive back now. You should still make it…”
There was a long silence on the other end, and then Mr. Ross’s shocked voice came through. “Julian, we’re in Barcelona right now. Your Alpha didn’t tell
you…”
Hearing the name Barcelona, Julian was stunned.

And what did his parents want to tell him?
A flood of questions overwhelmed his mind. He completely forgot about the ceremony and ran back to the backstage area, grabbing Mr. and Mrs. Blake. He was more frantic than ever.“Mom and Dad, Mr. Ross said they’re in Spain. Didn’t you tell them about my mating ceremony today?”
The couple looked at each other. “Their family moved and joined a pack in Spain a month ago. You didn’t know yet? I thought Shelly had already told
you.”
The word “moved” hit Julian like a shock wave. He never thought the Rosses would move away! And it happened a month ago!
Mr. and Mrs. Blake didn’t fully understand what was going on, but seeing how stunned he was, they quickly pushed him toward the front hall, talking nonstop. “The mating ceremony is about to start. What are you spaced out for? Nothing is more important than this right now. We can talk about it
later.”
Julian’s face went pale; he couldn’t hear a thing. He picked up his phone in a daze, hearing Mr. Ross still say “hello, hello” on the other end, and he felt a Пlicker of hope.
Mr. Ross, is Shelly there? Can I talk to her? There’s something I need to say.”
After a burst of noise, Julian heard Shelly’s voice, cold as ice.
“Say what you need to say, or I’m hanging up.”
At the same time, the emcee’s voice came through the door.“Now, let’s welcome the groom!”
Julian didn’t pay any attention. The only voice in his world was the one in his ear.

Her cold tone set Julian’s anger on fire, and his voice rose. “I said I’m getting married. Are you deaf?”
