I stood silently in the distance, listening without a word. My wolf hung its head in shame..
Isabelle, smug and self–satisfied, sauntered over, looking down at me with disdain.
“The gathering’s great, but there’s a small problem. There’s no moss–carpet in the hall, and my pelt is dirty. To make up for this oversight, you’ll hold my train.”
I kept my head down, my tone neither humble nor arrogant.
“Please wait, there are extra moss–carpets in the back–den. I’ll have someone lay them down immediately.”
Seeing my refusal, Isabelle’s face darkened. Her wolf growled.
Ethan entered at that moment, seeing her displeasure and rushing to her side.
“What’s wrong?”
“Ethan, I don’t want to get my pelt dirty. I asked your Beta to hold my train, but she refused! Is she still angry about what happened last day?”
Seeing Isabelle’s aggrieved expression, Ethan immediately embraced her, his eyes darkening as he looked at me.
“It’s just holding a train. It’s your duty. You’re not a first–shift Beta; you should be able to handle such a small matter!”
The pack members began whispering, their comments laced with sarcasm.
“A Beta daring to give Luna Monroe a hard time? She should know her place!”
“Some wolves are born with a silver fang, pampered and cherished, while others are lucky to just hold a pelt train!”
Hearing these taunts, my eyes dimmed. My wolf wanted to bare her teeth and snarl.
Suppressing my discomfort, I bent down to hold the train.
Isabelle led Ethan on a tour of the den, intentionally tormenting me. The train was adorned with countless pearls, weighing heavily on my aching arms.
Isabelle, unsatisfied, ordered more drinks, beckoning me with a finger.
“I don’t want to drink, but our blood–kin are here, so I can’t refuse. You drink these for me.”
“I’m allergic to this drink…”
“Ethan, look at her!” Before I could explain, Isabelle started whining.
Ethan knew about my allergy, but to appease Isabelle, he agreed.
“Don’t you carry allergy herbs? Take it, then you can drink. You should be fine.”
His unyielding tone sent my heart plummeting. My wolf whimpered.
My face paled, I silently took my herbs.
Soon, a group of wolves approached to chat, and I forced down drink after drink.
My stomach churned; I felt nauseous. My head swam, my vision blurred.

In a dizzy whirl, I heard Isabelle scream.
“Ethan, my pendant is gone! Only your Beta was near me; she must have stolen it!”
Hearing this baseless accusation, I briefly regained my clarity. My wolf howled in protest.
“Alpha Ethan, it wasn’t me.”
Ethan looked at Isabelle’s reddened eyes, then at me, his expression grave.
“It was crowded; maybe it just fell off. Let’s look for it.”
Isabelle refused to relent, violently pushing him away.“It has to be her! It’s because it’s your gift to me that I’m so upset. You’re protecting her! If you won’t search her, then don’t come looking for me!”
She stormed off, and Ethan quickly embraced her, coldly summoning the territory guards.
In the next instant, several guards tackled me to the ground, tearing at my clothing.
My mind went blank; I struggled desperately but couldn’t match their strength.
My tunic was ripped to shreds, my underdress torn, my skin scratched and bruised, bleeding profusely.

An overwhelming sense of humiliation washed over me, causing me to cry out for help. My inner wolf was fighting against the physical
restraints.
“I didn’t do it, it really wasn’t me!” But my cries only brought a more brutal response.
The guards grabbed my chest–bind, about to tear it away.
Ethan couldn’t bear to watch and was about to call a halt when several servers rushed over.
“We found it! The pendant was on the stairs!”
In an instant, all eyes in the hall fell upon the glittering diamond pendant in their hands.
Ethan’s furrowed brow relaxed slightly, he waved the guards away.
Then, he picked up the pendant and put it around Isabelle’s neck, his tone softening.
“The pendant is found. Don’t be angry, okay?”
Isabelle finally stopped crying.
Looking at me on the floor, she clung to Ethan’s arm, resuming her whining.
“Thank goodness it was found; I would have been so upset. But your Beta suffered such a great injustice; should I apologize to her?”
For a moment, all eyes turned to me.
Faced with these hostile gazes, I could only curl into a ball, desperately hugging myself.
Amidst my immense pain, I heard Ethan’s indifferent voice. His wolf was utterly unmoved. “No apology necessary. She’s just a Beta. A little humiliation is nothing.”
