Hearing the name, Lydia was enraged. Her wolf snarled, ready to defend.
She helped me up and stormed into Ethan’s office.
“Isabelle, don’t push it! Zoe didn’t offend you. Why are you making her kneel? She’s my brother’s Beta; it has nothing to do with you. Why are you acting like the Alpha’s Luna?”
Ethan was inside.
Seeing my disheveled state, he frowned, about to ask what happened when Isabelle threw herself into his arms. Her scent was cloying and manipulative.
“Ethan, I didn’t! I have no quarrel with Zoe. Why would I make her kneel? I don’t know what I did to offend her, she’s slandering me…”
Hearing Isabelle’s lies, Lydia was furious and slapped her.
“You’re lying, Zoe never lies!” Her wolf roared in outrage.
Isabelle burst into tears.“Ethan, your Beta slandered me, and now even your sister is bullying me. Fine, I will leave.”
Hearing this, Ethan panicked, then stood coldly, slapping Lydia.
“Enough! Lydia, when will you stop? Isabelle is one of us! You should know that!”
Then, he coldly looked at me.
“Why are you slandering Isabelle? If this happens again, you’ll be banished!”
His Alpha command vibrated with power.
Lydia covered her face, shocked.
I regretted involving her and quickly pulled her away.
Lydia was still fuming, wanting to argue, but I had no choice but to reveal that I had already requested to leave my position and planned
to return to my
birth territory.
I shook my head, choked back tears, and told her.
Hearing I was leaving, Lydia was heartbroken, hugging me and crying, begging me not to go.
I just patted her back, eyes red, “Lydia, all relationships must come to an end.”
Lydia cried even harder.
On our last day in Ashen territory, we shared a meal together, filled with unspoken sadness.
That night, Lydia stayed with me in my small den.
I repeatedly assured her that even after I returned home, we would stay connected through mind–links daily.
I would tell Lydia immediately if I found a suitable mate.
We chatted all night, discussing the past, present, and future.
At dawn, Lydia personally guided me to the border of the Ashen Pack.

As we said our goodbyes, Ethan messaged, asking where Lydia was.
Lydia still resented last night’s events. She was about to call and scold him, but I stopped her.
“Forget it, Lydia. Let the past be the past. Don’t clash with Isabelle anymore; your brother truly desires her. She’ll be your sister–in–law, find harmony.”
Lydia’s eyes reddened again.
It was soon time to embark.
I waved goodbye to Lydia, embarking on a journey of returning home.
And I sent Ethan a final message.
“Eight years of secret devotion, four years of foolishness – it ends here. Alpha Ethan, I’m no longer your Beta, nor am I your secret mate. We go our separate paths now. There’s no need for us to meet again.”
After sending it, ignoring his reply, I severed all mind–links.
Then, I crossed the border of the Ashen Pack without looking back.
