Lydia sent a mind–message to Zoe, but there was a moon–cycle difference of several hours between their territories.
Lydia advised him to return to his pack first, saying she would notify him herself if there was any news, but Ethan refused to leave, his
wolf driven.
He stubbornly stayed at his sister’s place, sleeping on the earthen floor, waking up at the slightest rustle of leaves, hoping it was news from Zoe. His wolf was restless, yearning for my presence.
It wasn’t until the full moon of the next cycle that Lydia received a reply.
“Alright, I’ll meet him.”
Just a few words, but they brought hope to Ethan; Zoe was still willing to see him! This meant there was still a possibility of a blood bond between them! His wolf howled with joy.
Filled with excitement, Ethan impatiently summoned his fastest form and prepared to run towards my location.
Lydia pulled him back, frowning disapprovingly, her scent sharp with concern.
“Ethan, you should rest for a day before you go. Haven’t you been without rest for several days? Since Zoe said she’d see you, she definitely won’t break her word.”
Ethan pulled his hand away from hers, his wolf
eager to run.
“I can’t wait any longer. During the time Zoe left me, I’ve been thinking about her day and night. Now I just want to see her.” His eyes were gentle, which utterly perplexed Lydia.
Watching her brother’s departing back as he shifted and sped away, she couldn’t help but sigh softly.
“If only he had known this, why did he act that way in the first place…”
However, Ethan didn’t hear that sentence. His mind was completely on Zoe, and the thought of seeing her soon filled him with exhilarating anticipation.
Even as he ran, covering vast distances with each stride, he couldn’t still his racing thoughts.
How have Zoe been doing abroad lately? Did she have a good life? Is she short on supplies? As a lone wolf in a foreign territory, she must be uncomfortable.
Thinking of Zoe, his heart softened, and his mind was filled with her image.
His wolf felt a surge of protective warmth.
Initially, the pup’s youthful shyness, her supposedly flawless secret longing, was in fact crystal clear in his eyes. But he was always thinking of Isabelle, thus neglecting Zoe.
Even after a night under the influence of moon–wine, he never considered her as his mate. Who would have thought that the Beta secretary who had always been so careful would suddenly confess to him? He rejected her mark, but he didn’t reject that young and vibrant body.
They had sex in various hidden glades. Zoe was very sensible; She wouldn’t do anything for status or to challenge the pack like other she–wolves.
This was good, very much to his liking, and it was also why he had always tacitly approved of her presence in his life.

If Isabelle hadn’t suddenly returned, claiming her right as his chosen one, he had even thought that maintaining such a relationship with Zoe would be perfectly fine.
When exactly did he fall in love with her?
Was it when he saw her diligence in serving the pack, noticed her thoughtfulness, or felt the depths of her longing for him?
Ethan couldn’t say. These four days passed too quickly.
Before he could even react, he had already been captured by Zoe.
But he realized it too late, which caused me to leave, seeking refuge in a distant pack.
But not anymore. He had thought it through; as long as Zoe could forgive him, he’d do anything she asked.
He wouldn’t make her just a secret lover or Beta secretary like before. Instead, he would openly announce their bond; he would undergo the ancient blood–rite, he would claim her as his Luna for a lifetime, and use his entire life to make up for the harm Zoe had suffered.
Thinking of Zoe’s return, Ethan couldn’t help but smile.
A feeling of happiness permeated his chest, making him immensely look forward to the moment he would see her. The long journey finally ended.
Ethan eagerly rushed towards the agreed–upon territory to meet the one his wolf deeply craved.
