Chapter 9
Julian’s accusation, without even hearing her side, pushed Shelly to her breaking point.

She fought to keep her wolf from taking over and tried to explain.“She was the one who found someone to try to rape me! And she fell down the stairs on her own. If you don’t believe me, go to the private room. The rogue is still…”
Grace panicked and started crying.“No, Julian, Shelly… called me a homewrecker. She said I stole her mate, and then… she pushed me! I didn’t do anything. Why would she lie like that?”
Julian believed Grace, of course.
He held her in his arms and unleashed his fury on Shelly. His voice was like frost.
“You know damn well Grace didn’t do this. You pushed her down the stairs, and now you’re pulling this pathetic stunt? We both know I only tolerated you for the sake of our families. You’re so wrapped up in yourself, you have no idea what a nuisance you’ve become. Get lost! I’m done with you.” Shelly’s heart went completely cold. She stared at him, speaking each word clearly and forcefully.“Fine! As you wish! You will never see me again.” Julian’s anger flared at her cold, unforgiving tone. He watched her stumble down the stairs, and he shot back with a harsh statement. “Don’t let me see you again!”
Shelly knew they wouldn’t see each other again. She didn’t stop. She left without looking back.
After a night’s rest, Shelly tore off the last page of the calendar. She was walking to the garage with her suitcase when her parents called to her.“Shelly, Alpha, and Luna have invited us for one last lunch. Put your things away and come quickly.”
Shelly was reluctant. But she knew her argument with Julian had nothing to do with the elders.
She agreed.
Julian wasn’t home for lunch. Mr. and Mrs. Blake kept calling him, but he didn’t answer.
The food was on the table.
Shelly spoke softly.“He’s probably with his mate. It’s just one meal. It’s okay if he doesn’t eat. Let’s not disturb their date.”
They had a flight to catch. They couldn’t wait.
Mr. and Mrs. Blake put their phones down and told everyone to sit. The meal was filled with melancholy. They talked about old times.
Shelly listened and ate quietly. After lunch, they all took a photo in the courtyard to remember each other by.
At one in the afternoon, the Rosses left with their luggage. The Blakes saw them off at the airport.
Mr. and Mrs. Blake called Julian a few more times. Still no answer.
They sighed, looking at their old friends with regret.“Julian has been busy with his engagement. He doesn’t know you’re moving. He’ll be so sad when he comes back and finds the place empty.”
Shelly gently shook her head. Her voice was faint.“He won’t be.”
The four elders looked at her in surprise.“Why not?”
An announcement played, reminding them to board. Shelly didn’t answer. She just said goodbye to Mr. and Mrs. Blake.
Her parent gave them a check. “We can’t make it to Julian’s mating ceremony. Alpha, please give them our wishes:‘Happy new marriage!”
Both families were emotional. Shelly stood aside, opened her phone, and blocked and deleted all of Julian’s contact information.
She waved to Mr. and Mrs. Blake, followed her parents, and walked toward the boarding gate.
She never looked back.
