Tristian let out a dry laugh, low and mocking. “I’m not gonna kill you, but…”

His eyes slid to Kayla’s long blonde hair, and his tone turned cold. “You’re proud of your hair, huh? Since you won’t apologize, let’s chop it off. Call it your punishment.”
Before Kayla could say a word, Tristian reached out, grabbed a fistful of her hair, and lifted the scissors, ready
to cut.
Kayla put on a wry smile. Without missing a beat, she took a step back and swung her leg hard into the back of Tristian’s knee. Caught off guard, Tristian dropped forward.
By the time he looked up, Kayla had already snatched the scissors from his hand. She yanked his hair back in one swift motion, forced his chin up, and pressed the sharp tip of the scissors directly against his left eyeball.
The point was so close. Just a single twitch, and it would plunge into his eye.
Her movements were smooth, practiced, and merciless, with no hesitation at all.
Tristian’s heart skipped a beat, and a cold sweat broke out as he stared wide–eyed at the deadly glint of the scissors. He swallowed hard, looking terrified.
“K–Kayla, what are you doing? I’m your brother,” he stammered, his voice cracking.
Gone was the cold, untouchable authority he’d worn just seconds ago. What remained was raw fear and nonstop trembling.
Kayla’s cold smile stretched wider. “Oh, now you remember you’re my brother, huh? We’ve lived under the same roof for over ten years. You really don’t know what kind of person I am?
“A few sweet words from Marianna, and you were ready to turn on me. You even tried to lay hands on me. Tell me, Tris, does someone like you even deserve to be my brother?”
Kayla had wanted to ask that back in her past life.
They were siblings, and they grew up together. Kayla hadn’t forgotten how much Tristian used to care about her when they were kids. But after Marianna appeared, it didn’t take long for that warmth to disappear.
Tristian looked stunned, not expecting Kayla to speak to confront him. He tried to stay calm and defend himself, his voice shaky but sharp. “S–She was bullied. That’s a fact.
“Her face was swollen. She was covered in dirt when she came. I’m not turning on you, alright? I’m just being fair. Let go of me right now, or I swear, I won’t-”
Before he could finish, Kayla yanked his hair even harder. The scissors inched closer to his eye. His words turned into a cry of panic.
He dropped to his knees, his whole body frozen stiff. He didn’t dare move a muscle–one wrong twitch, and Kayla could blind him. But even as fear took over, rage boiled in his chest.

He thought, She’s insane. She’s absolutely insane. Once I get out of this, I’ll make sure she pays. Fll ruin her
But Kayla seemed to read every hateful thought on his face. She couldn’t care less. In fact, it amused her.
Watching his expression twist in fear gave her a dark sort of satisfaction.
Her smile deepened as she thought, ‘So this is the almighty brother I used to look up to. He’s such a coward. I wonder what all those people who worship him would think if they saw this?‘
Kayla leaned in just slightly and spoke in a mocking tone. “Tris, are you threatening me? And yelling at me like this? Gosh, I’m so terrified. You know, when I get scared, my hands tend to shake. What if I slip? That’d be terrible, huh?”
Before she even finished, the pressure from her hand intensified. Tristian felt like his scalp was on fire. The pain was blinding, but he didn’t dare fight back.
He forced out a nervous laugh, trying to smooth things over. “Okay, okay, just calm down. Easy with the blade. Kay, calm down. I was just joking. I’m not mad anymore. J–Just put the scissors down, okay?”
