the lie sinks into her like a cold knife,. 

her face twists–hurt first then betrayal then something darker. “She wouldn’t-” But her voice shakes. 

“Ruby,” I murmur gently, “you just said it yourself. Everything works out for her. She gets everything. She always has.” I watch her shoulders curl inward. “And while you were hurting… she was with him.” 

Her breath comes out shaky. “I knew she didn’t care,” she whispers. “I knew it.”

“You deserved better,” I add, stepping back just enough to look sincere, not pushy. “And you deserve the truth now.” 

Her eyes glisten with something raw. “why are you telling me this?” 

because you are useful. 

Because you’re desperate. 

Because you’ll believe anything that confirms the worst parts of your story. 

But I don’t say that. 

“I thought you should know,” I answer simply. “Especially since… I’m working on exposing the truth behind Taylor and Aiden’s whole thing.

“No,” i answer softly. ” if they are lying you are helping the world. You’re helping yourself.” i let a small reassuring smile slip through. ” you would be the only one brave enough to tell the truth,. 

Ruby inhales sharply at the word brave.,i go in for the final push,.“and if you help me…i will help you.“her eyes flicker with fragile hope. “Help me how?” 

i step closer voice dropping. “i know you still want to be with your boyfriend,. I can make that happen.” 

Her lips part. “You’d… help me leave?” “Yes.” 

a shaky breath escapes her.its a sound full of yearning and spite tangled together,.she nods slow at first then firmer. “Fine,” she says. ” tell me what to do.“I smile.Not wide. 

Not triumphant. 

Just satisfied enough for her to see reassurance instead of victory. 

“Good,” I murmur. ” we will start soon.“she exhales clutching her phone like its the only thing keeping her standing. 

i turn and start walking away letting the cold air cut across my face.my stride loosens the ache in my jaw fading with every step.,
