Chapter 18 

It did not take long for me to find my mother; she was laying in her human form sprawled out naked by the stream. I immediately howled in distress and shifted back to my human form. Not caring that I was now naked and sensed that he had followed me. 

I rushed to my poor mother and started to cry because I was scared. 

What if she died? 

She was barely breathing and looked like she had been attacked since she was covered in cuts that looked fresh. 

“Isla, please allow me to help. This is my fault.” he sighed, and I could see that he meant well but that did not mean I was about to give him any chance of hope with me. 

“Here.” he suddenly went behind a huge oak tree. I wondered what he was doing when he reappeared with a bundle of clothing. He was also dressed in a tracksuit bottom and white plain top. 

“What is this?” I frowned and took the clothing that he was holding out to me. 

It was two dresses and some clean underwear. I glanced up at him and raised my eyebrows questioningly. 

“We keep clothes hidden in the forest in case of emergencies,” Miller explained to me, and I nodded gratefully as I pulled the dress over my head. Miller then helped me to pull my mother up and dress her. Then he picked her up and ordered me to get on his back with my mother. He shifted to his wolf form again as it would be quicker for us to get back to the pack hospital. 

I was desperate for my mother to be ok so I agreed and hopped on holding my mother gently as I could. She was floppy and lifeless, and I begged her to hold on. 

She was fading fast. 

The moon goddess had to help us. 

I was relieved when the pack hospital came into view. Miller must have mind-linked his beta because he rushed to us and grabbed my mother down. He hurried her into the hospital so fast I barely had time to her off Millers’ wolf before Mora appeared shouting her stupid mouth off. 

Miller growled in her direction, and she immediately shut up and lowered her gaze to the ground. 

I did not have time to argue with her or listen to her shit because I needed to be with my mother. 

Cora was already there, sitting beside her and holding our mother’s hand. Her eyes were shut, and I hated to see her like that. 

“Please tell me she will be ok.” I pleaded with the doctor who looked up and nodded. 

I breathed a huge sigh of relief. 

“Your Mother is going to need a lot of rest now so she will stay here for now to monitor her. It looks to me like she was attacked by a rogue. You got her here just in time.” The doctor informed us. 

Oh, my goddess! 

Rogues! 

That would mean they were out there still so why had the pack security not picked that up already? 

Alpha Miller came in at that moment and I snarled at him, furious. 

He looked surprised like he had no idea why I was giving him the cold shoulder.

“A rogue attacked my mother. That would not have happened if your security was top notch. I intend to get my uncle to fetch me and my mother and my sister. I do not want them to be here another second. It clearly is not safe,” 

I declared not caring that he looked gutted or that my sister might not want to leave this place. 

My sister had been at Pembroke all her life so I understood that leaving would be tough on her, but it was what was best for our mother. This place was the pits, and I was not afraid to make that known. 

Alpha Miller had a lot of work to do to bring this place back up to a high standard. 

“I won’t stop you.” Alpha Miller announced to me causing me to wonder if he was being serious. 

I wanted that in writing! 

For now, making sure that my mother was ok was the first thing on my priority list. 

“What about Daniel?” Cora piped up. 

Alpha Miller grunted and made me wonder what he had planned for my brother. 

“You better not have harmed him,” I said through clenched teeth. The thought of him injured and not able to call for help make me so mad. 

Did this so-called alpha does not think that he had caused enough problems already for me and my family. 

“Isla, your brother is alive, but he cannot come back here. I know he is Mora’s fated mate and I also know that he impregnated another she-wolf. They have been looking for your brother for some time. He needed to be gone from Pembroke to ensure your family’s safety.” 

Miller’s words threw me, and I was speechless. 

How did he know all that? 

“I will leave you to spend time with your mother. Please do not worry about Mora she will not be bothering you.” he said with a nod before heading back out of the door. 

“Did I hear that right?” Cora also could not believe his change in attitude. 

He really had realised his wrong doings. 

Not that it mattered since the damage was already done. 

“Isla, why do you not look surprised about Daniels antics?” Cora suddenly became suspicious of me. 

“On the way down here, we stopped off in another’s territory. They practically chased us out. Daniel told me then what he had done.” 

Cora groaned and fell back onto her seat. 

“Why does our family have so much drama?” 

My eyes snapped to my mother as we both heard a grunt and her hand moved slightly. 

She was waking up!
