Chapter 19

Chapter 19

“Where am I? What happened to me?” Our mother tried to sit up as her eyes fluttered open. She looked around the room, dazed and then the panic set in.

“Why am I here? What is going on?” She started to pull at the tubes and wires off her while Cora called for the doctor.

In a few moments, the pack doctor and a couple of nurses had calmed mother down with a sedative since she was freaking out and disturbing the other patients.

“Your mother needs to rest now for a bit. Once she is awake, we will call for you.” The doctors said and I agreed. She would be a bit better once she had slept it off.

Cora and I walked out of the pack hospital to get some fresh air and discuss what we would do next since Daniel was not coming back and if Uncle Ed head about this, he would demand I return.

I could not leave my family here at Pembroke again.

My mother was broken, and my sister would have nobody else since goddess knows where our father was.

Not that I would want to see him.

But I would have no choice if things did not improve. He needed to give me answers. None of this made sense why he would leave like that. And ordering mother not to shift and stay out of the way.

What sort of cruel fool had he turned into.

I needed to get all of this sorted finally.

“Isla, there is no way that I want to see him. Please. Do not make him come back to us. Look at how he has messed up mother. She is nothing more than

a shell of old self. She is devastated over the loss of her mate.” Cora exclaimed, reading my mind and I sighed deeply.

“I can’t promise that he won’t come back to us, Cora. But I can promise you that he will never hurt you or our mother again. I swear to you.” I assured my sister.

What else was I meant I do?

And Daniel!

Well, he had made his choice.

He had made an even bigger mess for us to clear up after.

To be honest, I could easily just walk away from here right now and leave them all to it. Simply go back to Eclipse and live my life without them.

But they were my family.

Underneath it all, I did care about them.

“We should go speak to Alpha.” Cora grabbed my arm and looked at me with her big eyes.

She was right.

I needed to speak to him finally.

“Fine, let’s go see the idiot.” I mumbled under my breath causing my sister to laugh.

I smiled at her, it was a while since I had seen her laugh properly.

“You!”

Me and Cora rolled our eyes in unison as one of Moras pathetic friends, Gina, came wading over all miss big almighty.

“I don’t know what you think that you’re doing but you’re not wanted around here. So, leave, like you did five years ago. Just go.” She growled at me causing Cleo to stir.

Cleo did not like us being spoken to like that and my eyes flashed as she pushed herself forward before, I could stop her, throwing me to the back of our mind.

Gina looked on with a smirk as Cleo stood before her ready to pounce and attack.

Cleo did not back down so easily these days and Gina was about to find that out in a second.

“You want to be beaten down to the ground before you are thrown off our turf. You are going to get your arse kicked, bitch.” Gina shouted as she shifted into her pure brown wolf, baring her teeth.

Taking no notice of Cora yelling at us to stop being stupid and shift back immediately.

There was no going back now.

This muppet was about to be bought down a peg or two.

Jumping up and sinking in our canines to her left front leg, she let out an almighty howl of agony. Feeling a buzz of satisfaction, Cleo carried on. Sinking canines deeper in and throwing her across the ground aggressively. She came back for more but each time I managed to dodge her, and she got much angrier. We fought for what seemed ages before Alpha Miller came rushing out and ordered us to stop immediately.

Not that we took any notice.

“Gina, Isla. Rein in your wolves, at once.” He repeated.

Cleo did not respond to him since he was not our alpha and no longer our mate. His words had no effect on us.

This bitch started it, and I was about to finish her.

We were not done just yet.

She wanted a fight; she would get a fight.

I was no longer little miss weak Isla that could be bullied into anything.

“Isla, I demand you to stop. Immediately.”

That voice.

“Father!” I heard Cora exclaim.

It was my father!

He stood up on the top steps of the pack house. Looking straight at me with disappointed eyes.

As if he had a right to look at me like I had been out of order.

What about all the shit that he had put this family through?

He was no father to me, not anymore.

Gina backed off and shifted back to her human form, covering her private parts and what a state she was in. Her face was covered in cuts and grazes

i where I had continuously pushed her to the ground.

It made me happy to see the look of disbelief on how I had beaten her. That would teach them to not underestimate me the next time.
