Chapter 10Â
Realizing that he was still so obsessed with Adelaide, Amanda felt a surge of jealousy. She wished Adelaide would just die!Â
She bit her lip. “I’m okay with being your mistress. I don’t need much, just a little bit of affection now and then. Is that too muchÂ
to ask?”Â
Garrett replied indifferently, “I’ll get you a set of jewelry.”Â
Hearing that, Amanda felt even more annoyed. “I wanna beÂ
your mistress, not a gold digger!”Â
“I can only give you money. My heart is all Adele’s,” Garrett said,Â
not giving her a chance to make a scene. “Wanna threaten meÂ
with suicide? If you do, make sure you die far away fromÂ
Evercrest!”Â
Amanda felt frustrated. She thought about how hard it was toÂ
get close to Garrett and had to swallow her pride, softening herÂ
tone. “Sorry!”Â
“Get out,” Garrett said impatiently, telling her to leave.Â
She reluctantly pursed her lips, knowing she had to leave forÂ
now.Â
Chapter 10Â
Standing in the elevator, she got an idea. She took a photo of theÂ
elevator floor display and sent it triumphantly to Adelaide,Â
saying: “Adelaide, when you were on the phone with GarrettÂ
just now, guess what? I was in his office too.”Â
When Adelaide glanced at the message, Teresa snatched herÂ
phone away.Â
After reading it, she cursed, “What a shameless, psycho bitch! IÂ
mean, is the psychologist the Pierce family hired even anyÂ
good? With the way she’s acting, it’s not depression. It’s moreÂ
like she has got a serious mistress complex!”Â
Adelaide smiled faintly but still had to set the record straight.Â
“The psychologist they got is one of the best in the country. NoÂ
doubt about it.”Â
“Oh, so her depression has taken a turn for the worse. She hasÂ
gone completely crazy now,” Teresa said, handing the phoneÂ
back to Adelaide. She looked at Adelaide with concern. “You’veÂ
been with that jerk for so long. Are you sure you can let go?”Â
Adelaide took a sip of coffee, her eyes flickering with pain asÂ
she looked down. “I can’t stand infidelity.”Â
She didn’t mind if someone had past relationships, but sheÂ
absolutely couldn’t tolerate them messing around with otherÂ
girls while they were together.Â
Chapter 10Â
Garrett knew this, yet he still crossed the line.Â
“I thought all men in the world could cheat, but Garrett wouldÂ
never.” Teresa cursed angrily, “Cheaters are scum!”Â
Just then, Adelaide’s phone rang.Â
It was her mom, Jeanette Pierce.Â
Teresa saw it and her eyebrows went up. “She’s probably callingÂ
you home. Gonna make up some excuse to get out of it?”Â
Adelaide picked up her phone and smiled a little. “I can’t avoid itÂ
anyway.”Â
Then she answered the call. “Mom.”Â
Jeanette bossed her around over the phone. “Tell Garrett toÂ
come over for dinner tonight. Get here early. I need to talk toÂ
you.”Â
An hour later, Adelaide got to the Pierce’s place.Â
When she walked into the living room, she saw Amanda cozyÂ
in Jeanette’s arms. Jeanette was all smiles, feeding her fruit.Â
Adelaide was about to look away when Amanda gave her aÂ
mean look. She ignored it. “Mom, I’m home.”Â
Amanda piped up, “Mom, I’m kinda sleepy. Wake me up whenÂ
dinner is ready!” Then she got up, yawned, and went upstairs.Â
Chapter 10Â
Jeanette stood up and said softly, “Okay, I’ll wake you up whenÂ
it’s ready.”Â
She turned back to Adelaide with a completely different look onÂ
her face. “Mandy was in such a bad situation last night, and you left with Garrett without thinking twice! Adelaide, do you think because you got married yesterday, you’re really part of theÂ
Barnard family now?!”Â
