Chapter 16Â
Hearing this, Adelaide abruptly looked up at him.Â
She finally noticed that he was in a bad mood.Â
“Since we’re not meeting the client now, should I get out of theÂ
car?” Adelaide asked.Â
Reginald leaned his arm on the car window, rested his face onÂ
his hand, and said casually, “Ms. Pierce, do you remember theÂ
extra terms of the agreement?”Â
Adelaide kept her cool and said, “Yeah, I remember. But Mr.Â
Thorton, you just said we’ll meet the client another day!‘Â
“We’ll meet the client another day, but I didn’t say there aren’tÂ
other plans for you.”Â
Adelaide was kind of speechless. “Then what else do you want,Â
Mr. Thorton?”Â
“Sit properly.”Â
Adelaide didn’t understand what he was going to do but couldÂ
only obey. She sat properly by the car door. At that moment,Â
her phone rang. She took it out. It was Garrett calling.Â
Chapter 16Â
Reginald said in a deep voice, “No phone calls in my car. Not forÂ
anyone.””Â
Adelaide was silent. She simply muted her phone and put itÂ
back in her pocket.Â
Even if he hadn’t said it, she wouldn’t have answered.Â
Seeing she didn’t answer right away, either by choice or becauseÂ
of his words, Reginald was in a better mood.Â
The phone, on silent, kept buzzing in Adelaide’s pocket till theyÂ
reached Rosecliff Manor.Â
Rosecliff Manor…Â
Just the name made Adelaide’s heart clench. She kept her cool,Â
got out of the car, closed the door, and said, “Mr. Thorton, if youÂ
need to rest, I’ll head back.”Â
“Are you going to show up at Orvenix Group tomorrow with aÂ
swollen face?” Reginald teased.Â
“I’ll ice it when I get back and put on makeup tomorrow,”Â
Adelaide said.Â
Reginald insisted, “Do you need me to come over and hold yourÂ
hand, or are you going to walk in yourself?”Â
Adelaide was kind of speechless. Again, under Reginald’sÂ

dominance, she chose to go inside on her own.Â
After all, she knew Reginald could do whatever he wanted.Â
Once inside, the butler, Draven Rowe, brought over the ice packÂ
he had prepared earlier. Reginald tilted his chin. “Give it to her.”Â
Adelaide took the ice pack. “Thanks.”Â
Draven smiled, “Don’t mention it.” With that, he took theÂ
servants and left, giving them some space.Â
Adelaide held the ice pack and applied it silently, trying toÂ
figure out how to get out of there.Â
“When are you getting a divorce?” Reginald suddenly asked.Â
Adelaide paused at the words.Â
His eyes narrowed a bit, and a cold smile crept onto his face.Â
“You haven’t figured out the divorce, Adelaide? If so, why areÂ
you hitting on me?”Â
“There’s a cooling–off period for divorce.” Adelaide continuedÂ
icing her face. “And Mr. Thorton, you got one thing wrong. WeÂ
had an agreement. If I lost, I’d willingly join your design team. IÂ
lost the bet, and I’ll keep my promise. I didn’t hit on you onÂ
purpose!”Â
“Fair enough.” Reginald nodded casually, his tone dragging outÂ
again. “But you know I like you.”Â
Chapter ToÂ
Adelaide’s eyes flickered, her mind a bit flustered.Â
“Fine, take your time. I don’t mind being the other man,” saidÂ
Reginald.Â
Adelaide was stunned by his outrageous words. “Reginald, do you even know what you’re saying?”Â
Hearing her call his name in a panic, Reginald smirked, clearly amused. “Scared? Let’s just do it fast. It’s just a divorce. It won’tÂ
kill you.”Â
Adelaide almost rolled her eyes. “Thanks a lotÂ
Reginald chuckled, his shoulders shaking a bit. “You’reÂ
welcome. I just want you to get out of this miserable situationÂ
soon.”‘Â
