Adelaide thought about how Reginald had been by her side 

these past few days, and it warmed her heart. “Yeah, Mr. 

Thorton is pretty nice.” 

“Can we get the divorce certificate tomorrow?” 

“Yeah!” 

“Since you’re single now, I think you should give Reginald a try,” 

Cierra continued to pass her the dishes, “I believe if you can find 

a good match, your teacher in the afterlife will be happy.” 

Adelaide didn’t answer, she just kept eating with her head 

down. 

She didn’t want to tell Cierra everything about herself. 

After telling Melina a few words, Adelaide drove away. The Sterling Estates was too far for her to drive, so she decided to head straight to Teresa’s flower shop. She took a shower there, changed her clothes, and then lay down on the bed in her 

lounge to sleep. 

Adelaide was sleeping soundly at first, but then she started to 

notice everything around her was gently swaying. 

It feels like she was sitting on a boat or in a car. 

She moved her arm and found her wrist was hurt by something 

hard.

After a few more moves, she finally realized something was 

wrong. 

The next second, she suddenly opened her eyes and found herself sitting in the passenger seat, the car was moving, and her hands were handcuffed.

Adelaide turned her head and saw Garrett’s profile right away.

the cooling–off period will expire.” Garrett gently looked at her, 

reached out and touched her head. “Darling, we are meant to be 

together, we can’t be separated.” 

“Are you crazy?” How could Adelaide imagine that Garrett 

would actually take her away, in such a way to escape reality. 

“You and Amanda have already set the wedding date, that’s a 

fact that can’t be changed.”” 

“No, there’s still a way!” 

“What?” Adelaide stared at him and asked. 

“If you were pregnant.”

When this was said, Adelaide felt like her brain was blown to 

pieces by a bomb. Instead, she felt a chill and fear. She used to imagine how cute her and Garrett’s child would be, and how happy and content they would be as a family of three. But that was all in the past. Now, she feels disgusted just seeing him, so 

how could there be any talk of having a child? 

It was pitch black outside, with only the streetlights behind us. 

Adelaide couldn’t see clearly in either direction. She felt a chill 

running through her body, wondering where Garrett was 

taking her. 

She forced herself to stay calm, “Garrett, do you know that 

what you’re doing is illegal?”
