Reginald walked up, glanced down, furrowed his brow, and 

said, “Crying with me isn’t enough, now you have to cry to Ms. Sampson?” 

“You’re not bothering me…….

“So what about you.” 

She was feeling down now, but Reginald didn’t pay attention to her overthinking, he just handed her a bottle of sparkling water. “If you’re thirsty from crying, have some.”

Adelaide didn’t say anything, she turned around and got back in the car. 

After Reginald got in the car, he opened the bag and asked her, “Strawberry, blueberry, or mango?” 

She took a closer look and found that there were many flavors of cakes inside. Actually, they were those individually packaged cakes sold in convenience stores that operate 24 hours a day. “Blueberry.” 

Immediately, Reginald opened a package and handed her a blueberry cupcake. 

The cakes from the convenience store definitely don’t taste as good as homemade ones, but they’re still delicious. Not to mention Adelaide isn’t picky about food, but with her current mood, eating some sweets really helps to relax. 

After taking a few bites, she suddenly said, “I take back what I said earlier, you’re actually pretty good at coaxing people, quite 

experienced.” 

Reginald blinked twice and said softly, “I’ve tricked you once, or 

should I do it now?” 

Adelaide didn’t say anything, she just kept quiet, bowed her 

head, and quietly ate her cake. 

“Stop crying?” Reginald leaned in, arms crossed, and kept his gaze fixed on her. 

“Much better now.” She wanted to cry again, but she couldn’t 

bring herself to. 

The emotion should have passed. 

After making sure she had stopped crying, Reginald began to 

talk about what happened that night, saying, “Tonight’s events won’t just happen once.” 

“Uh–huh,” she didn’t argue. 

“So how do you plan to solve it, huh?” He emphasized the word 

‘endure‘ with a strong bite, as a warning. 

If she dared, then he would make her cry again. 

“I was still thinking.” 

This answer barely made Reginald comfortable, “What if you 

can’t think of anything?” 

If she couldn’t think of anything, then she had to resort to 

extreme measures. 

From her expression, Reginald realized that this woman had 

some dangerous ideas. He snapped, “Adelaide, is your mouth 

just for eating cake?”

“Huh?” Adelaide was momentarily slow to catch on. 

“Can I help you burn off your mouth?” Reginald said. 

Adelaide was speechless, realizing it too late. 

“Buckle up.” Reginald coolly said. 

Adelaide didn’t say anything, she just buckled up. 

The next second, someone started the car. 

The two of them didn’t talk the whole way, until Reginald 

dropped her off at the Sterling Estates. 

After she got off the car, the man with a black face stared at her 

and said, “Think carefully before you talk to me.” 

With that, he stepped on the gas and the car sped away. 

Adelaide was still holding a plastic bag filled with various 

flavors of cupcakes, pursed her lips, turned around, and went 

upstairs. 

She knew what Reginald’s final words meant. 

He wanted her to ask him for help. 

But when she thought about what happened that night, she felt 

conflicted inside.
