Chapter 127
Gideon’s POV
genet
I was supposed to be resting, to allow my body in heal from the men and ply hart endast how could I relax when my son was out there, taken, undandedly frightened?
Consistently, I tried to sit up of even stand, but each time, the heaters led me hark to do fed extremt men he earn was in such a physically weakened state that I couldn’t fight back, even though I desperately wanted to Worn feg pader me back to the bed, I had to go
I hated feeling this helpless. This was my son. I needed to be out there searching for him
If anything were to happen to him…
No. I couldn’t think that.
“Alpha, Xavier said, appearing at the door.
I tensed, seeing him. He would only appear if he had more news, and I wasn’t sure if I could handle any more bad news
“Raven has agreed to assist,” Xavier said. “She is going after Leo with a few of Ivan’s other warriors.
I exhaled a deep breath of relief. I could trust Raven.
But even with warriors to assist her, there was no one more qualified to help her than I was. Leo was my son and this was my responsibility.
Once more, I tried to stand. I even managed to get to my feet.
“Alpha,” Xavier said, worry in his voice. He stepped forward toward me. I pushed past him. My arms were weak, like coodles, but Xavier obediently stepped to the side allowing me to pass.
Yet, even with Xavier standing aside, by the time I reached the door, my body started to give out. I growled against my pain and my body’s weakness, but I collapsed in my own hospital doorway.
The healers and assistants scrambled to get me up off the floor. As I was carried back to my bed in disgrace, I continued to growl, annoyed at myself and my weakness.
I had no trust but to put all my faith in Raven, while hoping that my son could be strong enough to withstand whatever fate was befalling him.
Six was far too young to deal with this kind of fear.
“Alpha,” Xavier started, then glanced away nervously. There was something he wasn’t telling me.
“What is it?” I asked. I was back in my bed now, winded from my escape attempt. My limbs were heavy. I couldn’t move right now, and wouldn’t be able to for a long time.
“I’m just concerned… What will we do if Leo has been harmed… or…. killed…?”
“No,” I said flatly. “My son is alive.”
Xavier gave me a skeptical look.
I placed my hand to my chest. “My son and I share a bond. I would be able to feel if he had died. He is still alive,” I said with

full confidence
Though, his being alive didn’t mean that he was being properly treated. Closing my eyes, I sent a quick prayer to the Moon Goddess, hoping that she would protect my son, and that she would aid Raven in finding him.
Please Hurry
Claire’s POV
“Please go faster,” I told the driver of the car that was taking me to Gideon’s pack house. I’d already told him to hurry multiple times, and the car was already speeding. The driver had stopped listening to me, I was sure, but they still nodded regardless to appease me.
I was anxious. I couldn’t sit still, with my knee bouncing up and down.
The pack house was the last place Leo had been seen. From there, we would hopefully pick up the trail. That was our only lead at the moment, our only chance to find him.
When we finally arrived, I burst out from the car like the woman on a mission that I was. Ivan’s other warriors formed around behind me. We had worked together many times in the past and were something of a well–oiled machine at this point. I didn’t even have to give the order for a few of them to fan out, separating from the rest of us as they went to scour the perimeter.
The guards at the pack house had already been informed of our arrival and our purpose. Because of this, those that had been selected as Leo’s bodyguards in my absence were waiting in the courtyard. I recognized them at once as the ones I had disliked.
Most of them seemed shamed for their actions, the loss of their only charge. Only one appeared to be defiant, the one who had been on his phone rather than watching Leo, who I had scolded the harshest. Even now, he was scoffing as I approached. like my presence was an inconvenience to him.
Like his incompetence wasn’t the reason that my son was gone.
I didn’t speak, having already learned that a lecture to him wouldn’t change anything. Instead, I walked right up to him and punched him straight in the face.
His nose cracked, broken.
“What the hell!” he gasped as he stepped backwards, covering his face with his hands.
“This is the least of what you deserve,” I snarled. “You are a failure of a bodyguard, and I will see you removed from service.”
I couldn’t spend any more time on him and turned to the rest. “Where was the last place you saw Leo?”
They directed me to the spot, very near the edge of the courtyard and one of the side, servant entrances. Someone could have slipped in through that door.
Gods.
“Raven,” said one of the warriors who had been combing the perimeter. He ran to me now. He glanced at the Gideon’s guards within earshot. “We found something.”
I went with them and once, following them out into the forest behind the pack house. We hurried, running through the forest a ways, before the warrior stopped. At once, leaning against the base of a tree, was Peter, bleeding and barely
conscious.
I kneeled beside him.

“Emergency healers are on the way, one of my warriors saitl
Looking at Peter, I wasn’t totally sure he would survive. My heart ached for him.
He glanced at me, furning his head with what appeared great effort. “It’s you”
“What happened?” I asked.
“A rogue had Leo… I tried to stop him… Another appeared behind me. I tried to fight them off..
He started to become agitated. I placed a hand on his shoulder.
“Rest.” I said.
He shook his head stubbornly, but his eyes still slowly closed, his body taking the rest by force that he was trying to deny it.
“Find him…” Peter said, his last few breaths before falling unconscious. “He’s a good kid….”
“I will,” I said. “I promise.”
The promise wasn’t just to Peter, but also to myself.
When Peter fell unconscious, I stood and walked toward the forest. I could see the signs of a struggle. Peter had wounded one of the rogues who had left a pretty obvious trail into the forest.
That didn’t mean the trail would lead to Leo, though. I couldn’t trust it. There wasn’t enough time to be wrong. Leo needed me to find him now.
Rather than follow the blood trail, I turned inward.
Leo was my son. I could almost… feel him through that mother–son bond.
Opening my eyes, I turned away from the blood trail. “This way,” I said.
One of the warriors looked at me with some confusion. “You sure?”
I understood the skepticism. The blood trail was the most obvious lead.
But I was sure.
“This way,” I said again, and started forward.
