Huglan finally spoke, “Okay.” 

But his eyes stayed locked on his phone. 

At last, it rang. 

He picked up right away. 

The voice on the other end sounded neither male nor female. It was clearly using a voice changer. 

“Hello,” Huglan said with a forced smile, his tone overly polite.

The mysterious person snorted. “You messed up. I’ll give you one last chance to fix it. Fail again, and I’ll send your whole family of three to hell.” 

That “family of three” obviously included Linda. 

Huglan chuckled nervously. “Just tell me what to do. I’ll do it.” 

The caller said, “The Rowlands, the richest family in Torenridge, own a national treasure–a famous landscape painting. Before you became a trafficker, you were a famous thief. Stealing one painting shouldn’t be too hard, right?” 

Huglan shuddered. “But I’m old now, and I haven’t-” 

“Alice is going there to get that painting. You can steal it from her. You must succeed. No failure.” 

Huglan froze. 

He didn’t expect to deal with Alice again. 

Meanwhile, everyone was gossiping about Alice’s business trip. 

Ruby had already returned and was taking back control bit by bit. 

All the secret helpers Irene left behind had been cleared out. 

If Alice and Eric left now, it would be like handing the company over. 

That would be a bad move. 

Because of the Global Hotel incident, Alice’s status in the company had risen a lot. 

The shareholders saw how hard she worked and appreciated that she didn’t hold a grudge against Ruby. 

They saw her as a calm, kind–hearted person and treated her much better than before. 

If she stayed and played her cards right, she could have made things very difficult for Ruby. 

But if Alice left, she’d be giving Ruby the opening. 

By the time she comes back, she might not be able to walk into the office anymore.

“If Ms. Spencer is leaving, she must have her own plan.”

“You don’t get it! The adoptive parents are still making trouble, and her real parents are about to come back. 

“If Ms. Spencer leaves, who knows what kind of stories they’ll make up about her?” 

Chloe nodded. “If you can think of all this, Ms. Spencer can too.” 

Janice froze for a moment. 

So Alice knew all this and was still leaving. 

That meant the business trip to Torenridge was really important.

He wasn’t in the mood to take Linda on a vacation.

He would be gone for a week.
