Huglan snapped back to his senses. Seeing the frustration on her face, he shook his head with a helpless sigh. 

“I do want to talk about it,” he said. “I just don’t know how. 

“I went to prison to take the blame for someone else. That person planned it a long time ago. What they want is far more complicated. Even if I told you, it wouldn’t help.” 

Linda frowned. 

She felt Huglan was being overly dramatic on purpose. 

He spoke in riddles just to get her attention, hoping she would feel sorry for him and support him later. 

He was delusional. 

Before this, she didn’t exactly hate him, but she didn’t like him either. 

Now, though, she felt real disgust. 

“When are you leaving?” Linda asked. 

She didn’t press for details. 

That made Huglan quietly relieved. 

He had wasted most of his life. Linda was his only child. 

If something happened to him in the future, she would be the only one he could rely on. 

“I’ll leave once I get news tomorrow morning,” he said. 

Huglan seemed to sense her rejection. 

His smile faded, and a trace of irritation showed through. 

But since he still needed her help, he held it back. 

He told himself it wasn’t the right time to deal with Linda yet. 

Once the matter with the painting was settled, he would deal with her later. 

Early the next morning, Linda woke up and didn’t see Huglan. 

She searched the entire place. After confirming he was gone, she finally relaxed. 

Linda got dressed and went to meet Rowati.

Rowan laughed, finding her cute, and took her along on the flight.

Rowan glanced around but said nothing. He led Linda straight to their seats.

It was about the Previns. 

Linda grew curious and leaned over to take a look. 

It would help bring her and Rowan a little closer. At the same time, she could catch up on the news.

Rowan didn’t mind the closeness at all. He even turned the screen so she could see more clearly. 

The news said that the Previn Group had officially been split in two. 

One half went to Stella; the other half went to Sophie. 

Reporters had interviewed Sophie. 

She looked calm and steady during the interview. Stella, however, said she did not accept the decision. 

What shocked everyone even more was Rosalie’s statement. She said that no matter what her children thought, she planned to let go of the company. She also announced that she intended to move to Mapleford for her later years. 

When Linda saw the news, she was shocked. 

Last night, Huglan had hinted that something would happen this morning.

Only then did she lean back in her chair and take a short break. 

Sandy and Michael had arrived at the office too. 

The two of them had now been placed inside Nolan Group. 

Sandy was in charge of the IT Department, and Michael had taken over the Design Department. 

These had once been Alice and Eric’s strongest areas. Now, the two of them had been pushed aside with no real power. 

“Mom, don’t worry,” Sandy said confidently. “Dad wants a divorce, but he already agreed to give you one month. We’ve basically taken control of Nolan Group now. I’m sure he won’t refuse to hand the company 

to you.” 

Ruby rubbed her temples, looking exhausted. 

Her divorce from Oscar was not as simple as it sounded. 

Oscar had left many people inside Nolan Group. They could help Eric, but not necessarily her. 

Once the divorce became public, everyone who wanted a piece of Nolan Group would start testing the 

waters. 

If the company weren’t tightly controlled, it could fall apart very quickly. 

She couldn’t let her life’s work be ruined. 

And during this one–month window, after securing Nolan Group, she could add extra conditions.
