Sandy lowered her head, clearly embarrassed.

Ruby felt drained. 

“They’ll be back any day now,” she said flatly. “I suggest you hurry up. Don’t come here acting cute. It’s useless.” 

Sandy bit her lips and said nothing. 

She could only leave, feeling wronged. 

Michael sat on the couch, cracking pistachios. 

“Mom, I’ve checked the design plans,” he said. “There’s nothing wrong with them. But if we start mass production now, the upfront cost will be high, and the returns aren’t guaranteed.” 

Ruby looked at her son’s lazy posture and felt helpless. 

“The key to the design department is people,” she said coldly. “The ones who followed Eric are the real living blueprints. 

“Use whatever method you have,” she added. “You must keep those people. If you can’t, pack your things and get out too.” 

Michael was shocked. “What?!” 

He didn’t even understand what he was supposed to do. 

Still, he saw how angry Ruby was, took a deep breath, and bolted out of the room. 

One second slower, and he might have gotten hit. 

At last, Ruby felt some peace and quiet. 

She had already stabilized things with the shareholders. Whether Nolan Group had Eric or Oscar no longer mattered. The shareholders would continue to support her. 

That was what mattered most. 

As long as the money was in her hands, she had the final say.

Ruby didn’t hang up the call. Instead, she lifted her phone and checked the news. 

She had been busy setting up her plans lately and hadn’t paid attention to anything else. 

She had followed Eric’s situation in Torenridge, but things were quiet back then. Ruby told her people there to keep an eye on him. 

She never expected that after just one day of not checking, everything would explode.

Nicollo had transferred part of his shares to Colton.

The person she called Rosa was Rosalie.

“Ruby,” Rosalie said quietly, “is this your answer? You don’t want me to come.” 

Ruby’s expression hardened. 

“You should know this,” she said. “If people find out about your connection to me, everything you’ve built over the years will collapse.” 

Rosalie’s voice sounded tired. 

“I’ve already paid the price, Ruby. Do you really think you can escape it?” 

Ruby ended the call. 

She clenched her phone tightly, biting her lip. 

Her eyes were filled with coldness. 

When Alice got off the plane, she went to collect her checked luggage. 

As her suitcase came down the conveyor belt, a staff member was about to help. Just then, someone in a hurry bumped into Alice’s arm. 

The already unsteady suitcase flew off to the side. 

The person rushed over and picked it up. 

“I’m sorry,” he said quickly. “I didn’t mean to. I’m in a rush.”

Alice took the suitcase and smiled. “It’s fine. Go ahead.” 

The person turned and ran off, as if something truly urgent was waiting.
