Chapter 382 A Sudden Appearance
“Oh! You finally stop pretending.” Damon said coldly. “You never planned to be part of the Spencers. You came back just to make our lives miserable.”
Alice actually laughed.
“Since you knew that,” she asked calmly, “why did you bring me home in the first place?”
Damon choked on his words.
“I’ll say this one more time.”
Alice stepped closer.
“I don’t start trouble. But if someone comes after me, I won’t hold back.”
Damon’s heart jolted hard.
It was fear.
Pure fear.
Every hair on his body seemed to stand on end; by the time he came to his senses, his back was soaked with sweat.
It felt like half his strength had drained away.
Immediately after, Daniel walked up to him.
“Mr. Damon, you should know your place,” Daniel said quietly.
After a short pause, he added, “If you touch Mrs. Nolan again, you’ll be standing against the entire Nolan Group.”
Damon clenched his teeth and nodded.
This was the first time he had ever been humiliated like this.
He vowed to get his revenge one day.
Before, because of blood ties, he had held back.
But today, Alice had crossed his line.
He swore he would make her pay–dearly.

Alice didn’t care about Damon’s hatred at all.
Still, she felt something off. It was like someone was watching her.
Her instincts told her something was coming.
But what?
Not long after, the party officially began.
Nathan and Maria moved smoothly through the crowd, raising glasses and chatting with ease. They blended in well.
It was clear they had prepared carefully before coming.
They even found Damon a good mentor. Rolf Atkinson.
Rolf had once been Windsor’s junior. Years ago, he left the country to build his career
overseas.
Now, his reputation abroad was second only to Windsor’s.
Right there at the event, Rolf officially took on Damon as his mentee, with the media present as witnesses.
Facing the cameras, Rolf spoke gently.
“I don’t care what my mentee was like before,” he said. “As long as he’s with me, I’ll make sure his path stays bright.”
The words sent the media into applause. Damon’s eyes filled with tears.
Eric stood at the edge of the crowd.
He turned his head slightly and looked at Alice.
“Back then, many of Eugenia’s paintings never made it to the public,” Eric said. “That was because of him, wasn’t it?”
“Yes,” Alice answered; her eyes were cold.
“Many of Eugenia’s works were destroyed by him.”
And for that, he would pay the price.

Chapter 382 A Sudden Appearance
Just as everyone was congratulating Damon, a loud bang suddenly echoed from a distance
A man dressed like a janitor seemed to trip over something and fell hard to the ground.
The noise instantly drew everyone’s attention.
“That person looks familiar.”
“I feel like I’ve seen him somewhere before.”
“Wait, I remember. I wrote a report about him. Look, it’s this guy.”
“What? That’s Mrs. Nolan’s adoptive father?”
Huglan lay on the ground, looking helpless and worn out.
“Mrs. Nolan, that’s your adoptive father, right?”
“How did he end up like this?”
“Oh, I get it now. This place hires part–time workers. He must be here to make some money.
The hotel manager rushed over, quickly helping Huglan up and apologizing to the crowd.
“I’m so sorry. Our staff was careless and disturbed everyone.”
In the crowd, Maria stared at Huglan.
For a brief moment, she felt dazed.
It was as if she had been pulled back to a night more than twenty years ago, in that small hillside town.
Her heart jolted.
A strong sense of panic rose in her chest, as if long–buried secrets were about to break free.
Her whole body began to tremble.
Nathan had no real impression of this man. Once he heard the words “adoptive father, he looked more closely.
Compared to how he had just been released from prison, Huglan looked a bit healthier.
He was about the same age as Nathan. Standing there now, he looked more like Nathan’s uncle.

Nathan thought for a moment.
It seemed life hadn’t treated this man well after prison.
Alice had the Nolan Group backing her. She didn’t even care about her biological parents anymore, let alone her adoptive ones.
With that thought, Nathan stepped out of the crowd and walked up to Huglan.
“I didn’t expect to see you here,” Nathan said, his tone full of gratitude.
“Honestly, after I came back, I should have visited you, but I’ve been very busy lately and neglected that.
“Thank you so much for raising my daughter. I truly appreciate what you did.”
Huglan’s eyes filled with tears.
In front of the cameras, he kept wiping his face.
“As long as the child grew up well, that’s enough he said emotionally. “As long as she’s a good person, that’s enough. You don’t need to thank me. Really.”
One of the reporters couldn’t hold back and pointed the microphone at Alice.
“You saw this exchange between your biological father and your adoptive father; do you have anything to say?”
Alice smiled faintly. “It’s my first time seeing someone thank a human trafficker after their child was kidnapped,” she said. “I have to admit it’s quite shocking.”
The moment those words landed, the crowd snapped out of the emotional scene.
