Karen wasn’t pushed away. Instead, his resistance only made her angrier.

She was truly scared of prison.

Alice laughed softly. “If you don’t commit a crime, even if I tried to send you in, it wouldn’t work.” 

Karen hesitated, then suddenly spoke again. 

“If I tell you that secret, will you give me money?” 

Alice didn’t answer right away. 

“You should know what kind of person I am,” she said slowly. 

“If what you say is true, you’ll be rewarded. But if you dare lie to me, then…” that would be the end of you.

Karen was terrified at once. 

Huglan shouted immediately, “I can take less money, but you can’t talk to anyone else!”
